Someplace in Thyme

I have been creating since I was a little girl. I am happy to say that having my own website has opened up a whole new world for me. Trying new mediums is a joy and sometimes a real eye opener. I sell what I create on etsy and my website, someplaceinthyme. If you have questions, please email me at cpeterson72@q.com. I welcome new blog friends and am honored if you find my little piece of heaven interesting enough to follow.

Happy Pink Saturday

Thankyou Beverly from How Sweet The Sound for making Pink Saturday possible for all of us. Please be sure to check Beverly's blog for the list of all the participants this week. I will keep this short but very sweet. These pretty geraniums are growing on my front porch in a statuary basket and look beautiful. I had lunch this week with my daughter in law and grand daughters, which was the delight of my day. Please enjoy.
A little close up.

Just look at those baby blues!! We had lunch Thursday at the Cheesecake Factory with the grand children and Amber. Always so fun.....
An angel for sure.

Our precious daughter in law, Amber, with our grand daughters Jenna and Allie. You can see the love. We are so blessed.
Big sister, I am soooo lucky and grateful to have Allie in my life. How could possibly ask for more??!! I hope everyone has a wonderful Pink Saturday, be safe and have a great weekend. See you next week.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY

Starting today I am offering Christmas items on my website someplace in thyme. You may wonder what a lovely bowl with birds on the sides and gorgeous faux cookies have to do with the holidays, but these cookies come with hangers, just in case you would like to hang them on the holiday tree this year. As strange as it sounds, it's never too early to start planning and thinking about what gifts you want to give, or how you want to decorate. The holiday season will be here before we know it.
These faux cookies all look good enough to eat! Each one comes with a gold hanger if you would like to hang them from your tree.

This sweet holiday pillow with angel and jingle bells will be coming to my website this week. Perfect for your holiday chair.

This is a sweet pair of vintage jello molds that have been given a shabby cottage makeover for your holiday tree. Paper roses, ribbon and faux pearls all combined with german glass glitter for a wonderful holiday addition. These would also be lovely presented on the outside of a gift box.

Here's a close up of the tree with all it's decorations. So pretty and one of a kind too. I will be adding beautiful one of a kind holiday keepsakes every week, so please be on the lookout for that perfect gift or decoration.

It's Time For PINK SATURDAY!

This week I wanted to share with you some of my hand woven baskets. As you know, I am a weaver and have been weaving for almost 20 years now. I thought you might enjoy seeing some of my work. Please check in with Beverly at How Sweet The Sound for the list of participants this week. Check out their blogs to see what they have been up to. Enjoy the pictures and thankyou so much for visiting me this week.
I love the border on this basket. I wove pink flowers into the back and the front. This sweet little basket is the same pattern I wove last year for my then, two year old grand-daughter. This was her Easter basket last year.

This large, round basket has a solid wooden bottom and handles on the sides. I use this for my Halloween candy, it's great.
The pattern name on this basket is "glove" basket because it can be hung on a doorknob to hold gloves, keys, mail ect. when coming and going. I used a pineapple on the front.....did you know that the pineapple is the universal sign of welcome? It's also good luck!

I used a stencil to handpaint the pineapple on the front of this.

This beautiful basket is wonderful displayed on a peg, hook, or used as a wall basket. It can also be placed on the doorknob to hold mail etc. When using your baskets, think outside the box for some unusual ideas.

A close up of the curls on the front of this basket.

This basket shares some of the southwest colors with you. The rim is a little different and I like that.
This is a close up of the x's woven into the basket. That's all for today, I hope you enjoyed seeing just a little of what I like to do in my spare time. Have a great week and see you all next Saturday. Happy Pink Saturday to you and yours.

HAPPY PINK SATURDAY

Lets all say thankyou to Beverly from How Sweet The Sound for making this possible. Please be sure to stop by all the posts and add a comment to show support........you just have to love this little guy, he "or" she eats bugs!! This is some of the pictures I took at the botanical gardens while I was visiting the Chihuly artwork. Altho I caught the desert blooms at the end of the season, there still was plenty to see and admire. Please enjoy the show.

how about some crepe myrtle?
these blooms actually belong to the Vitex Ash tree in my last picture.
isn't this the truth!
this statue is in the herb garden at the botanical gardens and is named "mother earth".
this looks like some kind of alien to me.......

everything comes alive in the spring.
pretty in pink.
here's a close up. I like this one.

I don't know if this is editable or not, interesting tho.....what do you think it would taste like?!

how's this for strange looking?

the desert loves red.

you can eat this cactus and find them in the grocery stores.....

Pretty, but funny looking at the same time.

THE BEST BLUEBERRY MUFFINS

After much thought, I have to confess that I don't know of anyone that doesn't like blueberries. They can be fresh, dried, frozen or whatever, but they are good, that I know for sure.....AND, they are good for you too.
One of my passions is collecting cookbooks. I discovered William Sonoma Cookbooks years ago and have to say that I have never tried anything from their books that wasn't fantastic. The following Blueberry Muffin recipe is from their Muffin cookbook. Please try it, you won't be disapointed.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees and grease 12 standard muffin cups with butter or butter flavored nonstick cooking spray. You can also use muffin papers.

TOPPING:
stir together....1/4 cup all purpose flour, 2 T granulated sugar and firmly packed brown sugar. 1/4 t ground cinnamon all in a small bowl. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut or rub 2 T cold butter (cut into small pieces) into the dry ingredients just until coarse crumbs form. This can also be done in a mini processor.

MUFFINS:
In a bowl, using an electric mixer on medium speed, cream together 7 T unsalted butter, at room temperature and 3/4 cup granulated sugar until light and fulffy. Add 2 large eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition until blended into the butter mixture.

In another bowl, stir together 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour, 4 t baking powder, and 1/2 t salt. Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture in 2 increments, alternating with 1 cup of milk, and 1 1/2 t vanilla extract. Stir just until evenly moistened. The batter will be slightly lumpy. Using a large rubber spatula, gently fold in 1 1/2 cups fresh blueberries or frozen unsweetened blueberries, unthawed, just until evenly distributed, no more than a few strokes. Take care not to break up the fruit and do not overmix.

Spoon batter into each muffin cup, filling it level with the rim of the cup. Sprinkly each muffin with some topping.
Bake until golden, dry, and springy to the touch, about 20-25 minutes. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean. Transfer the pan to a wire rack and let cool for 5 minutes. Unmold the muffins. Serve warm or at room temperature with maple butter.

MAPLE BUTTER:

1/2 cup unsalted butter at room temperature, 3 T maple syrup
cream together the butter and maple syrup in a small bowl until well combined. Store covered in the refrigerator before serving. Makes about 1/2 cup. Enjoy
