bye!

It's been three months since i last posted! If you are still reading this blog, let me know. I'll give you an award for the most faithful reader. haha.

Anyway, FYP is finally over, and exams will be in two days. After that, Europe beckons, and then, it's anybody's guess. I thought this will be a good time to take a break from blogging, so i won't be updating here anymore (twitter is the new in thing. haha). So...if you wanna catch up, just give me a ring -- the good ol' fashioned way.

Au revoir! :)

the other way round

I think the governments got it all wrong.

We were meant to have a two-day work week, and have five days of rest.

I finally have enough time to: do my assignments, go for FYP interviews, transcribe, write, read, practise my guitar, do my quiet time, iron the clothes, wash the toilet and...write more on this blog :)

There's a sense of joy and fulfilment in finishing all of the above, a change from the usual rush in getting everything done with just 24 hours a day.

And i'm now blogging almost every day! Not on this blog, but for a class. So go here if i'm not updating enough here!

ah-ha.

As i read on a NYT article:

I haven’t ever found any great writing on that wonderful and often unappreciated art form, the insult.

There are two kinds of insult. “I was bored by your book” is one kind. “Your book? Once I put it down, I couldn’t pick it up,” is the other.

How true indeed.

the lovers, the dreamers, and me

this is for you ms crescent moon. hahah :)

a little insecurity around

Two modules and a two-day week.

This looks set to be a rather enjoyable sem - a final one for learning and self-discovery.

And this journey has already started.

I was talking to B - one of the most vocal persons i've ever known - after class today, and she shared how she always gets so kanchiong when speaking in class that she stammers.

And then there was J - the friend whose humour to put others around her at ease i've always admired - saying she felt she was boring sometimes, simply because she takes an interest in a supposedly boring topic.

To think i had always thought i was the only one who stammers in class, and the only one who felt boring.

Moral of the story? There are always moments when we feel lesser than we really are. When our jokes fall flat, when our voice squeaks in class, when others slap high fives over Bleach (or whatever it's called) and we're left wondering what that was all about.

In these moments, remember: you're not alone. And you're probably better than you think you are :)

back to school - one last time

Looking at the photo gallery of my new science and tech module, there were all kinds of unexpected faces:

the jc classmate - check
the sports camp programmer - check
the band junior - check
the ex (and/or current) gf of a friend - check
the people who probably thought their matric photos would never see the face of the earth again - check

If there was a piece of advice that was neglected during all the orientation camps i went for, it's probably this. We should have been warned that the photos would be displayed to all our course mates in all their glorious geekiness.

Anyway, it's too late to complain now, not when i've just finished my last ever school holidays.

A swimming outing, two rounds of muscle aches (thanks to stanchart and inter-school games) and three days of house-painting later, december has passed.
A new year beckons with all its promises and uncertainty.

To quote from jane, i wish you in the coming year

eyes that will perceive beyond the obvious,
ears that will listen to life's stillness,
smiles that will warm hearts around you,
hands that will do extraordinary deeds,
feet that will stand firm on your beliefs,
and a heart that will remain steadfast.

Blessed new year! :)

joyeux noel!

The carols, the little gifts, and just that air of celebration. Christmas is always so good!

Have a blessed Christmas everyone! :)
