Completely quackers

We have had the photo's of the ducks and ducklings for a few days. It seems that because I have told the duck story to a few people it is so silly to blog.

Will try my best to relay............

The road you see is very narrow and it is also very busy.
We couldn't understand why the car in front was wandering all over the road. Until we spotted the Duck and her brood.
The car in front passed and I think it was at the point where I snapped them all waddling down the road I also shouted STOP!

So we did...(as you should).
The duck decided that she wanted to change sides and ambled across to the other side of the road while a car came around the corner of the bend.
Our car horn honked and we shouted and waved to a very bemused driver. The oncoming car stopped. GREAT!

The duck waddled on taking her new family up the other side of the road the way she had just come. The traffic on both sides of the road started to build up. The car behind us, the car behind them got out, (how on earth did they have a box in their car?).

At this point Amie yawned in the back seat, just after I had whipped her blanket from under her.

People behind us were milling around trying to catch the duck and the ducklings.............
So what did we do?

Left them all to it....
They were far better at catching ducklings..................................

There are all kinds of tree huggers

Our camera isn't sharp enough to catch the birds unless they are right under the lens.
But I'm sure you get the general idea.

There are some tree huggers who are really full on, like the Thrush.

Some that are just nosy.

Some who turn their back and not really bothered.

The stream in May

The water in the stream is really good quality.

You will have to take my word about the fish.

The best things in life, are free

After spending two and a half hours walking in the bluebell wood yesterday,

meeting new friends.

Amie has spent the day recovering and snoring at her very loudest.

Walk through a blue bell wood

We wait all year, just to see the bluebells.

They are back

The Slow Worms are back.... and Amie knows where the nest is.

Recipe for Radish and Rocket

Clean the just pulled radish (red one's) under the tap.... or a bowl of water if you don't want to waste water.
Don't waste WATER!
Clean the newly picked rocket.
Put it up to your mouth and munch......
Take a radish and do the same..............
and munch and munch till you have to go and pick some more.

The first things out of the garden this year. They always taste the best.

1920's Travel Gramophone

Having a 1920's Gramophone is one thing, but if you have nothing to play on it, it is another.

Luckily for us, we found a couple of records.
Does the gramophone work?

OH YES!

Dartmoor where the earth meets the sky

Thought you might like to have an idea how lucky we are here at Soggibottom Cottage.
Yesterday we were on the beach, this is the view from Haytor on Dartmoor.

Why would we live anywhere else?

Talking to Sparky Brand and Rebeccaswayround

Now who are they kidding?
They phoned because they were hoping the waft of Sunday Lunch would go down the phone.

Going to eat it out in the garden........
You are both going to have to wait a little longer for yours!

The "Ness" at Shaldon, South Devon

A half an hour trot along the beach this afternoon turned out to be three hours or more at Shaldon. Lots of comments about fairies and gnomes lately, so thought you might like to see something to do with smugglers for a change.

The tunnel goes down through the cliff, Amie wasn't quite sure but happily went with us. It got colder and colder the further we went. Think she might have needed her sweater.

Spooky stuff...... pleased the lights were on, and it echoed, but we could'nt think of anything to sing.

Daylight.......

For all Amie Soto Blossom Fans

The tunnel comes out here.
Shame it was misty and grey.

It has been mentioned that Amie hasn't been on here for a while. As you can see she doesn't sleep all the time and loves the beach. So Amie Soto Blossom No 1... fans here she is.

In Devon the fields meet the sea. Sad to say they often fall into it too.

Now I know what your thinking. Rock Painting. It did cross my mind.
How on earth would I get it up the tunnel?

Dinky cars

After seeing so many old toy cars at the toy museum in
Cheddar we finally cleaned and polished the toy cars
that had been in a box for ages.
Thought you might like to see them.

Oldies are the best...........even if they have been well played with.
I'm sure I should have re-worded the last sentence, but will leave it with you!

Pay it forward bears

Three pay it forward bears.

One has gone....

Two left...........

Felted little bears.
To have one, the idea is to leave a comment on this post
and pass on the Pay it forward idea on your blog.

Bunny, let me know which felted little guy you want.
Sparky really doesn't need anything else to be stored at Soggibottom.

TWO LEFT

Love the idea of Pay it Forward

Love the idea of PAY IT FORWARD.
The first three to leave a comment on this post will receive a handcrafted "something" from Soggibottom. You have to leave your email address or contact so that I can send you this "something".

The only cost to you is your giving spirit. As you have to pay it forward on your next post on your blog to keep the giving going.

For a better explanation visit WHEN LIFE HANDS YOU SCRAPS (click on the right on the list of some of our favorite sites).

The "something" crafted from Soggibottom........ is,....... not quite sure yet......
Tony has just made a great cold frame for our garden....... promise it won't be that.
Promise it won't be the shells I picked up from under Paignton Pier either.......

Busy lady, but as always I keep my promises........ er.... sorry.... it's not AMIE SOTO BLOSSOM either. You wish..!

Cheddar Toy Museum

Toys for boys ladies.
I should have added this along with the posts of Cheddar Gorge,
but have kept it so BREDAN could see some real cool, old cars.
Yes, Bredan it's you........

Think you will find these have the steering wheel on the "right" side.

To all the motorist around this weekend. Have fun and take care.

Most of all, hope everyone has a really great Easter Weekend.

One day old Easter Calves

Have lots of other pics to put on here but after seeing the twin calves this afternoon, the others will keep. The twins, one of each .
A change from the usual chicks and Easter lambs. Cute, ah!
