Red Slurpees
Jackson started taking swimming lessons last Monday. He had a tough time at first--he is a cautious kid and it takes him a bit to warm up to new situations (many of you will remember nursery, play group, etc). Matt and I couldn't let him give up, though, it is such an important thing to learn. So, we tried again on Tuesday. He walked right into that pool and never looked back! I was so proud of him! As a reward one day we went to 7-11 near the Hidden Park and we got red slurpees (I loved getting them as a kid). It was a great day, even though his slurpee ended up all over the car, I now can always look at the new red interior of the mini-van and remember how proud I am of Jackson (gotta have eternal perspective when raising kids--right?). Note: It's amazing the perspective you can have when sitting at your computer, 3 days later--I'm not sure it was there at the moment I saw the entire back seat of our new car covered in red--I seemed to have erased that moment from my memory...

To my amazing family...
Since we have gotten back from vacation a week and a half ago, I have been pre-occupied with Relief Society things to take care of. It seems that everything hit at once and my sweet husband and kids kind of got lost in the shuffle. For three days straight I have had to leave them with wonderful sisters in my ward (and a wonderful mom!) for various r.s. tasks and Jackson and Reagan have been such troopers. My Matt, who always seems to get the brunt of my stress, has been so patient and understanding. This is just a little note to tell them how much I love them, let them know how important they are to me, and to help me refocus my perspective and try, once again, to learn to balance...

Confidence of a Sage
My dad, who is the Stake President over in Placentia, asked Jackson to help him with his Seminary Graduation Talk. My dad was telling the seminary graduates that it wasn't so tough to memorize scripture mastery scriptures. He then said if an old guy could do it (my dad had memorized them all) and a young guy--- Then he had Jackson come up and say the scripture he had memorized for Primary (Amos 3:7). Jackson went right up there with Matt, my dad held him up, he looked out at everyone and then said his entire scripture into the microphone. I was so proud of him! He definitely has the confidence of a Sage--
House Update
For anyone wondering about the house...here is an update:
This is what our house will look like on the outside (the paint colors are pretty similar to this house, too).
This will be about the size of our backyard and it will be a rectangle shape, like this one (not huge, but double the size of our current one!):This is what our house will look like on the outside (the paint colors are pretty similar to this house, too).
Here is the exact color of the cabinets and granite:
