The Holiday Season!

I can't believe it's been almost a month since I last posted!
I wanted to write today and record the fun times we have had these last few weeks.

In follow up to my last post- we were able to get together with our friends from the courts and my brother in-law plus his date. We had so much fun! We went to my in-laws and made homemade pizza and baggie icecream. The whole time we talked and laughed. It was a good time with good food and good company.

Thanksgiving was so wonderful and not just because we were in Kauai. Ok...maybe that is why! The words that describe the time we spent there are: green! warm, humid, driving, sunning, splashing, kayaking, hiking, napping, reading, eating, looking, enjoying, playing, relaxing, participating, making memories!
I really was amazed at how green everything is- I was even more so when we came home and witnessed the contrast! We woke every morning to the crow of a rooster, at least he sure did try to wake us up every morning : ) Then the days schedule varied but mostly we played in the ocean and worked on our tans. It was so fun to be there with everyone, it made the trip whole, a good family vacation. We also shopped and went on a fun little adventure in the rain forest. Kayaking against the river flow isn't something I suggest, or not wearing bug spray in the rain forest. The trees were beautiful though and the waterfall we hiked to was as well.
Other memories-
One of Chad's good friends and his wife took a break from BYU Hawaii to be with us for Thanksgiving and that was wonderful! Theyre great friends and it was fun to catch up and spend time with them! We're excited to have them back in SLC later this month!
We finally bought Chad a new pair of sunglasses, I think his last pair broke in July.
I read the three books of the Inheritance Cycle - definately fun books to read, and they move pretty quickly which is nice, thanks kate!
We saw a big ol seal at a beach in Poipu, and sea turtles at the spouting horn!

We had a wonderful time and we're already getting back into the swing of things and prepping for the Christmas season! The only dilemna we're facing is that we can't find our Christmas decorations! ... they'll show up sooner or later : )

Happy Holidays!

New Friends

About a month and a half ago, one of my and my brother in-laws friends told us that he knew a couple that was moving into our court!
Turns out that he taught the husband while on his mission. And that's where they became good friends and then they moved out here! We introduced ourselves and since then we've been talking and doing things almost every week. They're a cute couple, and they are a lot of fun to have around and we are loving getting to know them.
I have really enjoyed getting to know our new friends especially the wife. She is a super sweet girl! She's from England and has an adorable accent, she is staying at home till she gets a job so when I'm home all day on Tuesdays and Thursdays we've been able to do things and talk. Last week we had lunch and it was so fun to sit and talk and get to know about each other! New friends are so fun!

Other fun things that we are doing...
we're trying to organize a friend get together with another couple in our ward. We found out that we have a fun connection in that our brother (my in-law) and the girl he's dating are their good friends. It's been fun trying to find a night that coordinates with all our schedules, and when it finally does happen(maybe on Friday) I know we're going to have so much fun!
we're going to a musical at hale center theater with my "other" family and I am going to the premier of Twilight with my sisters next week. Both exciting events!
next saturday we leave for thanksgiving vacation in hawaii! I'm excited to go for my first time and to be in hot weather again!
we're expanding our meal selection. Every week I'm trying to make
something we havn't made before. I'm taking from the recipes that we got from our wedding and any suggestions...
I am listening to Christmas music on the radio!

We hope all is well with you and yours! Thanks again for checking in on us!

Quotable

Here are some quotes from "standing for something" that i've liked and wanted to share...
"Love is like the Polar Star. In a changing world, it is a constant. It is something that, when sincere, never moves. It is the very essence of the teachings of Christ. It is the security of the home. It is the safeguard of community life. It is a beacon of hope in a world of distress."

"By and large, if we complain about life, it is because we are thinking only of ourselves. For many years, there was a sign on the wall of a shoe shop I patronized that read, " I complained because I had no shoes until I saw a man who had no feet." The most effective medicine for the sickness of self-pity is to lose ourselves in service to others.
The best antidote I know for worry is work. The best cure for weariness is the challenge of helping someone who is even more tired. One of the great ironies of life is this: He or she who serves almost always benefits more than he or she who is served."

I'm only a quarter of the way through so I am sure there will be more to come. I am really enjoying the words of pres. Hinckley, they convey his love and faith and knowledge in a beautiful and uplifting way.

picture attempt

I've been wanting to post some pictures, lets see if this works, If Not, then I'll have to hound my sister in-law till she teaches me how : )
These were taking inbetween conference sessions by our famous photographer friend and brother

just another day in paradise

Fall break which I consistently refer to as Spring Break was a lot of fun! I got to hang out with the office girls( I miss them), Play with my hubby on Wednesday and my mom on Friday. Such Fun!!!

Now I'm back to school and it's of course not as bad as I'd thought. I had my first swim class for this session and it was perfect! I never realize how much I miss it till I hit that cold water and start pulling with super weak muscles! I am excited to get back in shape and have fun in the process!

Finally!!! My brother is coming home next week which means I'll probably post next week about how happy I am, but for now I'm complaining about how completely forever long these last two years have been! When I think about how it felt to have my otehr brothers go I don't ever remember feeling like those two years were long at all, but with my best bud it has been almost everyday that I've thought, this is taking soooo long! Good thing that all ends Monday at 4!!!! I am so excited to see him, and hug and laugh and see how he's grown and changed! It'll be so wonderful! I'm kinda sad that I won't be at home with him, just for the reason that I'd love to spend tons of time with him, but I like my house and situation too much to really want that : )

So life is still great,
especially since I mopped my floor today. I have a hard time getting around to it but until I do it's there in the back of my brain saying "clean me"...
anyway that's what I get to do for fun inbetween studying, yay!
oh I'm reading Standing for Something for the first time and I'm loving it! I pull it out eveytime I get on the shuttle and it's the perfect read to get me through the day. Very uplifting- and logical, clear, great, everyone should read it!

Autumn

It's October! Which means that we just listened to a wonderful General Conference and that fall break is next week!
It also means that two of the classes that I've really enjoyed this semester will be ending. I took golf and yoga for the first session of this semester and have had so much fun learning how to do yoga and learning how to golf so we can golf together! It's a bitter sweet end- it means that now I have to continue to improve on my own and that I no longer have that time commitment, but also that now I know how to do yoga and golf! Granted I'm not really pro in either, but I know enough to go and have fun doing it whenever!

I'm also excited it's October just because it is. For some reason October this year has a "magic"ness to it. It might be because my "lil bro" and brother are home this month from their missions. It might be that I can put out my favorite decorations and feel all festive at home. It might be that the weathers changing and that always makes me excited. It might be that I am just loving life and can't help but feel that everything is new and wonderful and there for the taking and loving.

Hope my random comments are interesting and informative! Thanks for joining me on my blogging journey! Hope youre enjoying it, I sure am!

Time

Everyday seems to be going by more quickly than the one before. Septembers mostly over, school seems to be slipping by( which is awesome)
... I wish I took more moments to stop and appreciate what's happening right now.

so I will

We're having a lot of fun living where we live and getting out and spending time with friends and family. With our callings we get to meet a lot of the fun couples who move into the ward- it's always fun to see a couple new faces and gain new friends. We went to a ward progressive dinner last weekend and really had fun just mingling and talkin.
I helped with my cousin's wedding shower and it was so fun to prepare for it and play with my family yesterday. What I really loved was afterwards, coming home to have mu hubby waiting for me( I thought I'd have to be alone without him for a couple hours but he hadn't left yet!)
I can't believe that we are aunt and uncle once more. Our new nephew is adorable! I can't believe that we'll repeat the experience next wednesday and meet a new niece!
Chad and I went with some of our good friends to Ghost Town last weekend. It was a funny movie( I keep telling everyone that there are scenes when you're laughing so hard that you can't breathe) but we loved afterwards when we were able to talk with them and catch up and laugh.
I took my father in-law to the airport on Wednesday and it was so fun to stop into the office to pick him up! I got to see all my office friends and give hugs all around! I really miss my coworkers- not so much the work though(I'm loving the just-school life)!

In the end whether I'm noticing the moments or not Life is Wonderful! I think it's funny when people ask, how's married life?, of course it's wonderful! We get to hang out everyday with our best friend and they're always there, and we love it!

My first post

Well here we go. I am attempting to join the world of blogging, so that everyone can check in on us and see how we're doing.

Sum up

We celebrated our one year and six months anniversary of marriage on Wednesday of this week. It's amazing how much time has gone by.
Our life is on a pretty regular schedule now. I have three more semesters in school to get my bachelors in exercise science, so I go to classes all day. Chad is working at 3-form as a project manager, he's making the big bucks so that I can just focus on school. He is still looking for a better job, hopefully the opportuniy for one will come soon.
We spend our weekends playing because we're tired or studying during the week- hopefully we'll be boating on Saturday( we'll see what the weather allows).
Once in a while we get out during the week- we broadened our horizons( ok just my horizon) and ate greek food last week. Chad said it's pretty heavy stuff, and he's right!
Sum up; life is wonderful and there's not much variation, so I'm not sure how often I'll post news, I just thought blogging would be a perfect way to share how we are doing.
