Bear Lake

Uncle Kurt and Stephanie decided to get married at Bear Lake so we got to take a family trip up north. I have to say that that was probably the most beautiful drive I have ever been on. The leaves had already changed and the colors were so vibrant. We tried to stop and take pictures but weren't in the most ideal place to get a good photo. Both Sardine Canyon and Logan Canyon were beautiful. Sadie kept saying how she wanted us to buy a tree like one of those we were seeing. I couldn't have agreed more.

Not only did we get to drive to Bear Lake, we got to stay in a cabin on the beach with all the family. It was so much fun and the view was gorgeous. The wedding was beautiful too with the lake as a backdrop. And best of all, it was fun to simply spend time with family and relax a little.

Silver Wolves

Soccer is over and Sadie is really going to miss playing with Weston. She already told me that she wants to play on the same team as him next year. Everyone once in a while she would get a little distracted during the games and tug on him or pull his arm, but he didn't seem to mind. And even though she didn't kick the ball much, she sure did a lot of running. She seems to enjoy the running more than anything else.

Ledgemere FHE

It's that time of year again. We got to go up Big Cottonwood Canyon to do our annual FHE at the Ledgemere campsite. The girls loved climbing rocks and were fearless. It was making me sick to watch for fear they would hurt themselves. So I warned them of the dangers and let them decide what they would do. They decided to continue climbing without even a second thought. Thankfully we finished the evening without any serious injuries. But I did have some very dirty children.

The hot dogs, fruit, and potato salad were super yummy but my favorite part was singing around the campfire and having a short lesson. There's something about being in the mountains that makes me realize how blessed we are to live in such a beautiful world and I feel the Spirit so strong.

Rivalry Week

For years I have been wanting to mow a Y in my lawn and I've either forgotten or it has snowed. This year I remembered and it was so much fun. I have had more phone calls, texts and drive by's. It has been great! All the Ute fans threaten to mow it or paint it red. The BYU fans ask how I did it. That was the other fun part. I just eyeballed it. I used my girls toy lawn mower to push a light line in the lawn and then copied it with my mower. I was a little nervous when I got started that it wasn't turning out right, but I was pretty proud of it by the time I finished.

Then today, game day, we all dressed in our BYU blue and had blue milk for breakfast. Our ward held their annual tailgate party in the afternoon where we ate some yummy food and socialized with our fellow BYU and Utah fans. And to finish off the evening, Josh got to go to the game. His co-worker gave him a ticket. Unfortunately, his seat was in the Ute fan section and BYU lost the game.

Silver Lake

Sadie's first field trip was to Silver Lake up Big Cottonwood Canyon. She was lucky enough that Josh happened to have the day off work and was able to go along and help out. They did a letter treasure hunt using the signs posted around the lake and happened to see a big bull moose. Crazy!

King Daddy

The girls spent a lot of time preparing a birthday present for Josh this year. Kali learned how to play a simplified version of his favorite Hymn (How Firm a Foundation) on the piano. Sadie and Ashlyn colored him pictures and then all three of them worked together to make him a crown so he could be a king. They actually made him two crowns because they didn't know how big his head was. It was pretty cute.

Chill

On our way home from church, I looked back and this is what I saw. Ashlyn has an obsession with sunglasses and was just enjoying her chance to wear them while looking all chill.

Pony Rides

Aunt Kellie gave us tickets to a fun afternoon at Riverton Hospital. The girls got to enjoy some fun bouncy slides and go on ponies rides. That last time they rode on ponies was so long ago that none of them even remember it. Today was Ashlyn's first time and she was a little nervous. But she sure looked cute on the pony with her pink cowgirl boots on.

Toe Sucker

Emma has discovered that she has toes and that she's limber enough to get them in her mouth. Thankfully her feet don't touch the ground much these days because she sucks on her big toe like it's her thumb.

Olives

For some reason Ashlyn calls her wrinkly bath tub fingers "olives" instead of "raisins" like the rest of us. I have no idea where she got it from because I'm positive she knows the difference between the two. She likes  eating both raisins and olives and hasn't ever confused the two when talking about them with me. But for some strange reason, her bath tub fingers remind her of olives instead of raisins. Silly girl!

6 Months Old

This chubby thing has finally turned a corner and become a little happier these days. She's sitting on her own for short periods of time and I think it has helped her to be a lot happier. We recently introduced her to some baby vegetables and she does NOT like them. The three times we've fed them to her, she has made a face with the first spoonful and spit it out, gagged on the second spoonful to the point of almost throwing up, and then cried hysterically on the third spoonful. And even though she looks very chubby and has some good leg rolls, she's only in the 25th percentile on weight and 30th on height. (We still like to call her chubby anyway or as Josh prefers, little pudge or pudgy.)

Lots of Love

Not only does Ashlyn love her baby sister, but she also loves being a big sister. She's always asking if she can hold Emma. And even when she's not holding her, she likes to get her toys, wipe up her spit up, sing to her and show her books. The only problem is that Emma doesn't always enjoy the activities as much as Ashlyn does. It can be frustrating at times, but it's also very sweet. There's nothing better that having your sisters be your best friends.

Ice Skating

Kali's first discovery session this year has been ice skating and she is loving it. She's pretty good at it too. I would say that she's probably as good as me, if not better. They did hockey one week and speed skating another week and Kali was the only one brave enough to try the correct skates. She really struggled with the hockey skates and changed them back to figure skates after a little while so that she could stay on her feet a little longer.

Copperton Park

We also continued the Parry family tradition of going to Copperton Park for lunch. The girls got to do all sorts of fun things like play with blocks, color with chalk, ride scooters, play on the playground, race cars, and serve as ball girls for the guys playing tennis.

Playing on the tennis courts has become a tradition for the guys now. Kali and Sadie wanted to play too but aren't quite ready to compete with the guys so they had to settle for ball girls instead.

Millcreek Canyon

Once again we got to enjoy a yummy breakfast up Millcreek Canyon this morning. It's always fun to spend time with family and the girls love being able to play close to the water.

Rainbow

We have had such a dry summer this year that it was exciting to finally have a rainstorm today. Not only did we have a downpour, but it hailed too. And then next thing we knew, we were looking at a large, bright double rainbow. It was so beautiful. My camera doesn't even do it justice.
