What was that?

This last few months our little boys have really been saying some funny things.

Mom: Tyson - Sammy has to go with you to help.
Tyson: I can "hangle" myself mom.

The little preschool the boys were in was called Tiger Tots
Cooper: Mom its time to go to "Lion Tots"

One day Coop & Tys were playing and I kept hearing Tyson say
"Coop stay out of the Woba"  over and over finally I asked him what was"Woba"-
"Mom you know the stuff that comes out of Volcano's"
Oh yea Lava- just what I was thinking!

Todd's uncle past away last month and we took our family to the funeral in Preston, Idaho. We didn't do much explaining to the kids thinking they would be distracted doing other things.  The girls understood that Uncle Dwight's physical body would be in a casket but that his spirit would be in heaven.  I didn't talk to the boys at all. The casket was high enough that Cooper could never see in it.  But at one point I had to pick him up and hold him and he could see in the casket right over my shoulder.

This is our conversation:
Cooper: Mom, Mom- what happened to him?
Mom: oh he was sick and he died.
Cooper: Oh- oh
Coop: he saw a dragon...... he saw a dragon and died
oh he saw a dragon and died.....dragon...dragon and died.
Mom: SHHHHH.

I have no idea where the dragon thing came from....the ONLY thing I can think is from the movie How to train your dragon? I am actually hoping because that seems pretty innocent compared to where else he is getting his ideas from.

2 it is!

Today he is 2! I can't believe it and if I must say he is one cute little 2 year old.  This morning he didn't really get it was his birthday but by the end of the day he knew there was something special for him.

He is blowing the candle out himself.  He wouldn't even wait until we were done singing.

Loving his cupcakes. And "cheesing" for the camera.

His very own ride on.  He is soooo excited!

Love this guy more and more everyday!

Keep watching for our Virginia pics- we just got home from being with G & G Sleight.  We had a GREAT time.  One of my very favorite things was watching my kids catch fireflys.  What is so magical about those little bugs.? Truly made me want to freeze frame time watching them run around.
Hope your summer is up and going....

Happy Father's Day!

This is one lucky dude because he has 5 little people and a wife to appreciate him on Father's day. We sure love him and to show how much we had orange rolls (rhodes---let's be realistic we have church at 9), we bounced around the church pew all during sacrament mtg.,we gave you some alone time after church (that may or may not have been interupted by an on call run), by default we made you a nice ham sandwich for dinner and then we took you have some lovely dessert with your inlaws fruit trifle and scotcheroos. And just as we were ready to go to bed there was a lovely smell of your REAL dinner. (because I forgot to put the roast in the oven)

Oh wait.....this sounds like everyday in our life.
You are LUCKY, You get Father's day EVERYDAY! (hee hee)
We love you so much!

The end already!

May started out with Piano Recitals, Choir Concerts & end of the year programs.
By the end of the month we were all ready for a little break from just stuff.

The girls ready for their last Choir Concert!

                  The last day of school!
Syd got Mrs. Rasmussen for 2nd and Sam got Mrs. West for 3rd.  We are really excited.

This little girl earned the citzenship award in her class. The award was given to one boy and one girl in every class.  It means that she was a great citizen in her class, always helping others, always on task, never in trouble and just an all around great kid.  We sure think so too. Yea for Syd!

Tyson's end of the year.

He did it.  There have been many times this year that I didn't think we would make it to this point.  It's not that he didn't like preschool.  Once he actually made it to school he was fine.  It was leaving the house, getting into the car and physically walking through the threshold of the Miss Karla's house that took all the effort.  Once he was in the door he was fine.  No tears and all good.  The kid knows how to make his mom crazy.  We LOVE Miss Karla and I know that Tyson tried her patience but she was so great with him.  I am proud of this little guy.  He really has grown up the last month and I think he is gonna think kindergarten is swell.

Oh ...lovely! Just for the camera.

The month of May our local High School does a preschool for an hour a day and both Coop and Tyson went this year.  Cooper would cry because he wanted me to stay and Tyson would say "it's okay Coop, I will go and it is fun so you don't need to cry"- My mouth about dropped open-
On the last day of school the teacher that oversees the preschool- (she knows us because there has been a Sleight in preschool the last 4 years) asked if Tyson was heading to Kindergarten because she was going to miss him.  My heart melted.  She said she has loved having him in class because he is so clever...he asked her trivia all the time about what animals do.  "what lives under water and has long legs?" "A Squid."  I wish you could see his sparkly little eyes when he asks you these questions.
It is so lovely to hear that somebody else loves your child.  Especially one that you have been struggling with all year long.  I learned this year that with time comes maturity and sometimes you have to let them grow into things.  I have learned to have more patience and that sometimes it is okay if they won't get into the carpools car- it isn't the end of the world if I have to get in the car and drive him myself.
I just hope I remember this patience with my next one in line because I am sure my little Coop is gonna try me in a whole different way. :)
