Sadie's non-stop, fun-filled second birthday...

We started first thing in the morning with an old Enslen family birthday tradition, cake for breakfast. Then Sadie opened her presents before Daddy went to work and big sisters went to school. She loves her puppy towel, so we got her a ducky towel with slippers. Sibley made Sadie a custom scrapbook. Sadie also got a Hello Kitty backpack. Every morning before school, she sees big sisters put on a backpack and she wants to wear one too and be just like them, so now she can. And, without even knowing it, Grandpa got her a Hello Kitty purse, so now she has a matching set.

She tried to blow out the candle on her cake as soon as she saw it, even before it was lit. And later in the day, we dressed her in a pink dress with a cupcake on it and she tried to blow out the candle on her dress. She also stuck her finger in the cake and sampled the icing as soon as she saw it. Then she grabbed a spoon and tried to dig into the cake before we even cut it. I guess she thought she got the whole thing since it was her birthday.

Chick-Fil-A

After Bryant got off work, we picked up Grandma and headed to Sadie's favorite place, Chick-Fil-A with a playground. (I like Chick-Fil-A playplaces too because supposedly they clean their play equipment more.) And Sadie loves Skyler's best friend, McKenna, so we brought her along too. Plus that, since McKenna was with us, Skyler the teenager wasn't quite so fussy. Sibley, thank you for always being so good to help me with Sadie in the playplace.

Playground

After Chick-Fil-A, we headed to the mall. Sadie loves the playgrounds at San Tan. As if the playgrounds there weren't enough, they also have the puppy store, Build-A-Bear, the Disney Store, and Dairy Queen all right there by the playground! (And it's shaded, which is so nice. And there are these two comfortable Adirondack chairs.)

Build-A-Bear

I had a great coupon for Build-A-Bear, so we had been planning on taking Sadie there for her birthday and letting her pick out some things. We went in to get started on the Build-A-Bear process, but Sadie was not the least bit interested. She kept heading back out toward the playground, so we took a hint. This is the only camera footage we got inside Build-A-Bear because we weren't in there for long. Of course, the big girls begged me to let them build a bear, but I told them they had to wait until their birthday.

The Disney Store

Since Sadie wasn't really interested in getting a bear from Build-A-Bear, we walked her down to the Disney store. She LOVED the Disney store. We watched to see what she liked the most. Her favorite things in the store were the sippy cups, so that's what she got, 3 sippy cups.

Sadie at the pet store

Here is a video of Sadie telling the puppies, "Be nice!" and "Eat your nummies!". Also, here is a still shot of Sadie clinging to a stranger's leg. She thought it was me. Oh well. And here's a photo of Sadie and one of the many friends she made during our outing. She is a very friendly girl. She says "Hi" to all the little children she meets.

Dear Sadie,

You just told me I had a booger in my nose. I checked and you were lying. Also, today you told me you were Sadie Slade. You said I was Mama Slade and then you named every other member of the Slade family, including our last name.

Also, you got into Skyler's mascara and you look like a dalmation again.

Yesterday you wrote all over the tablecloth.

A couple of weeks ago I left you in the backyard while I watered the flowers in the front yard. When I got back the the backyard, you had walked into the living room with the hose in your hand and you were soaking the carpet. Now we really need new carpet.

Ahhh...the life. Thanks for the pool Grandmama!

So proud of my Daddy...

Daddy was elected Elmore County's new Probate Judge on Tuesday. I'm so proud of him. It was a very emotional day for me. I knew Grandaddy was smiling down on Daddy. And I was so relieved that it was finally over and of course that he had won. I was very worried about all of the lies his opponent was spreading about him, i.e. he was really a liberal Democrat, he was taking advantage of and stealing money from an old lady, and he was going to use taxpayer's money and hire someone to do all the dirty work for him. Even though these were all laughable accusations, I was worried that people who didn't know him would believe them. Turns out, lots of people know him and didn't pay the rumors any mind. He got 67% of the vote and won in all of Elmore County's 28 precincts. I am so glad when good things happen to good people, and when people work hard for something and get what they deserve. I love you Daddy and Grandaddy. I know Daddy will do Grandaddy proud. He knows and loves every nook and cranny of Elmore County! He starts his 6 year term on January 1, 2013.

Spring Break Arizona Staycation...

Daddy got a few days off for Spring Break, and gas is outrageous, so we are having a staycation this year. So far we've been swimming a couple of times and gone to the Sea Life Aquarium. (Daddy has gotten caught up on a lot of overdue doctor's appointments. He has Plantar Fascitis.) Today I think we'll go hiking.

After 4, tickets to the Sea Life Aquarium in Tempe go down to $8. We took advantage of this yesterday and checked it out. So fun and so worth it! Even the big girls liked it!

Sadie liked to growl at the fish and try and scare them. She also worried about where their Mama and Daddy were if she only saw little fish and no big fish around.

There's an indoor playground in the museum. Even Skyler got in on the playground action.
