Regional sales director huh....

Finally met up with ty just now. It was a long awaited treat from him. He had promised to treat me if he passes all his modules and he indeed cleared all. We were supposed to meet at 7pm orchard mrt station control. I arrived at 705pm and was 10 minutes earlier than him. He had rushed from his company at tuas.

We walked over to Sakura at Far East. It is a halah thai restaurant. We had hot plate black pepper beef, sweet & sour fish, sambal kangkong and rice. My drink was some kiwi juice offering for $1 per glass. It tasted yucky. The worst drink I had ever came across! Chatted a bit over dinner with him. He was wearing a formal white long sleeve shirt and grey pants. Quite smart looking. As usual, he was crappy.

Went shopping after dinner, as ty wanted to get more working shirts. While at Zara, he tried on some shirts and decided to buy 2. This shop offers nice shirts. The design and material are nice, but the shirts are damn expensive. Each of the shirts costs at least $89. He spent around $198. Ty also wanted to get a tie and a belt. However, as he spent too much for the day already, he decided to buy them at a later date.

We decided to chill out at Starbucks after shopping, as it was still early. He treated me to my favourite hot cocoa. It was nice of him. Then he talked about his work and shared his "interesting" life experiences. After about 30 mins, we walked to the mrt station and parted ways.

Well, all the best to the future regional sales director who is going to be based in Shanghai. Bon voyage on your journey to Shanghai on 11 Aug.

Argh, my fringe is still as short as before.

masters?

Had a discussion with dong and sf. sf is undertaking a fyp that is quite similar to mine and dong has asked me to assist her in the initial stage. So there I was, being asked to join in the discussion.

After lecture, I walked slowly to dong's office. We were supposed to meet at 930am. I thought I was late, but sf was not there when I reached. Nevertheless, dong talked to me and asked about my report which I had asked for extension to hand in next week.

Dong: "Busy with your report?"
Me: "Yup, 3/4 done. Trying to plot out the xrd graphs."
Dong: "I see. Anyway, I hope you can help sf with her fyp. She's doing something similar to yours, but with an additional material added. As for your report, you can take your own time to finish."
Me: "Ok. Thanks"

Then after that he went on and talked about ms480, about the slight change in syllabus etc. After which, sf finally arrived. dong made some introduction and went on to asked sf about her project. It was the same old stuff that he mentioned to me 6 months ago. "I don't push students. I hope they will work independently....blah blah blah"

As sf was discussing with him, dong was constantly mentioning about my project and sort of praising me. Argh, can't take it. Then, while he was searching for a journal on sf's project, sf turned and talked to me.

sf: "You masters eh?"
Me, shyly: "Of course not. FYP. I started last sem."
sf, shocked: "Oh."

Wah, do you know how awkward that was, to ask me all these in the presence of dong? However, being the usual nice person that I was, I just smiled at her. Haha. After more discussion, we proceeded to the laboratory.

Dong showed her some equipments like the xrd, sem and tem machines and brought her to the laboratory where she is supposed to do her experiment. He showed her the chemicals. I brought out a chemical which was bought under my name and dong took a look at my samples which was put together with that of nq's.

Dong: "You got label your samples?"
Me: "Haven't. Will do so soon."

He left shortly after. sf then went around asking me questions. "How often do you do your fyp eh?" "What did you use?" "What do you think I should do" Then she went on and asked what did I do, as dong was sort of praising me just now. I said I did nothing much. She didn't seem to believe. Whatever. Then she was asking the default grade for IA and fyp. I said "B" lor. But she added "A lot of people got A for IA leh." Ok, so she got A also lah. Oh, an academically consious person. She wanted to start her fyp this friday. I was thinking, "Wow, so kan cheong eh."

While we were waiting for the lift, I was mentioning about the techinicians and about Irene, saying she got mood swings. She suddenly appeared behind my back. It was so damn scary. But she was in a surprisingly good mood today.

Irene: "Have you finished your project?"
Me: "Haven't. Now rushing through report."
Irene, smiling: "Better finish your project fast, then don't need to fight with others for machines."

The lift came and we walked in. I was asking sf why she chose dong's project. She said she don't understand the others and at least the title of dong's project she understood. Then she asked me back. I was saying I thought my project was interesting, but it turned out otherwise when I was doing it. Irene suddenly added some comment like "It's always like that, doing and reading are very different. So must go around and ask first." She was eavesdropping on our conversation! When we left the lift, she still turned around and looked at us. I bid goodbye to her and she smiled back. Weird.

Weekends

Saturday: 30 July 2005
Initially wanted to meet dq, sr and some of my jc friends for skating at ecp. dq was to teach me how to skate, as she paid around $90 to attend some skating lessons. However, it was raining damn heavily on that day and the "gathering" was called off. Nevertheless, I still went ecp. By the time I reached ecp, the heavy rain had stopped and was replaced by slight drizzling. As the floor was slippery, it was impossible to skate, so I suggested jogging. zw agreed. Then we started jogging from the bicycle shop near mac till we reached the chalet area, as I wanted to go toilet. Stupid mac toilet was always crowded. We continued our jog after that. It was a slow jog to bedok jetty. The weather was damn cooling. Passed by the seafood eating area, there was some construction work going on.

Finally, we reached bedok jetty. There was quite a number of people fishing. We stayed there for quite a while and observed them. There wasn't many fishes that day. Only saw 3 people caught some very small fishes. After about half an hour, we decided to jog back to the mac area.

When we reached the mac area, we stopped by the beginners' skating corner. The ground was slippery, hence there was only a few people skating there. There was one uncle offering to teach you how to skate and blade yourself. Quite tempting, but my legs were too tired to skate. Passed by mac and bought a fish dipper for $2. It tasted nice. After that, we went geylang for frog porridge. We ordered 4 frogs and got 3 for free and there was free porridge also. 4 frogs were cooked in spicy sauce and 3 frogs was cooked with spring onions. The frogs in spicy sauce tasted nice, as the ones without chilli tasted sweet. Overall, it was a damn filling dinner. Went orchard after that.

Sunday: 31 July 2005
Woke up damn early. At 7am! Was very tired. There was some badminton session with my ia friend (sq), her bf (yc), 2 other guys (bk, sim) and zw from 8-10am. Haven't been seeing my ia friend since jan. She has graduated with a third class honours from eee and is looking for a job. We reached clementi sports complex at 815am and was the earliest. The others were still on their way. However, we could not play first, as I only brought along a racket, so we waited. After 15 minutes of waiting, bk finally reached. He brought 2 rackets and there was no shuttle cork. Luckily, he found one on the floor. Then, both him and zw started playing, as I didn't want to play. Feeling bored, I went to explore the area.

Finally at around 9am, sq, yc and sim arrived. At that time, I just started playing against zw, as bk was making a call. 5 minutes later, I went to rest and chatted with sq. Then the guys started playing doubles. sq wanted to play but no one asked her to replace him and I just laughed. At around 10am, there was another group of people using our court and we had to leave. However, they noticed that there were some empty courts around. So they sneakily went to continue their play there. zw was tired and sq finally got the chance to play. they played for about half an hour, then sq and bk came back and me and zw replaced them. Paired up with zw. We lost to sim and yc. But it was fun. We left around 1145am. We were going to kbox for klunch.

Walked to the carpark to put our belongings in the car, then we proceeded to kbox. We were to sing from 12-3pm I nearly held a concert, as most of them only requested for a few songs. Probably too shy I guess. Haha. The food was taking a long time to be served. The soya sauce chicken tasted yucky and the laska was not really cooked. The noodles looked like rubber bands. Luckily, they willingly exchanged the laska for us. The person finally came in and chased us out at around 325pm. As yc wanted to bring out his dog for a walk at ecp, we decided to proceed there. yc, sq, sim n bk went to yc's hse to get the dog, while zw and I went around looking for food.

Supposed to meet yc, sq, sim and bk at ecp mac at 415pm, but all of us were late. It was very crowded and the more popular parking spaces were occupied. The parking slot we managed to find was very far. It was a long walk to mac. yc managed to find a nearer parking slot and they were already there eating. The dog was lying on sq's lap and is looks cute. Being scared of dogs, I stayed clear of it and only resorted to touching the dog's fur. It was damn soft.

After they finished their meal, we proceeded to the skating shop. All of us rented skates. Better ones are rented for $10/hr and the lousier ones for $7/hr. There was one hr free for every one hour rented. Some of us rented the more expensive ones as the cheaper ones were mostly rented out. As all of us were beginners, we had a hard time making our way to the beginners' corner. There was a slope. We were sort of fully geared with protection. I had to be helped out by this girl from the shop but she was not being helpful at all and I fell down on my butt. Argh, very demoralising. After much trying, managed to make my way to the railings there. Held on to the railings and tried to balance myself. I was told to bend down whenever there was a tendency of falling. As I got more confident, I skated around without the help of the the railings and took off the protection gears as those were too smelly and hindered my movement. yc was the better skater among us and bk fell down a lot of times. In total, I fell down on my butt thrice. Finally, managed to balance and move around by myself, though was still unsteady.

2 hours were finally up and we proceeded to bedok for ba chor mee. The orders took a long time to reach. But it costed only $2 each. Then, it was home sweet home. Heard that there is going to be another outing next sat or sun. Hmmm.
