Post Ike Trip to Utah

Thanks to my husband I was able to take a trip to Utah to escape aftermath of hurrican Ike which was Sept 13 2008. I started my tour of Utah on the 1st of Oct starting in Logan, UT at my youngest daughters house and have now ventured down to Salt Lake to visit my parents and Amber my oldest. While in Logan we did lots of shopping for crafts for our girls night on Saturday and also made numerous trips to Great Harvest bread [yum]! Cassie and I also went and had brunch with Clynn and Louise and had a great time visiting and catching up on life. Saturday and Sunday were your typical conference weekend for the Almond girls. Time between sessions were spent shopping, eating and crafting; what more could a girl ask for? Overall it has been a wonderful time and its not over yet!

Riding in Style

So apparently my parents are not quite ready to enter into the technology phase of life and don't use their blog. Although it could be useful for posting pictures so I don't have to beg you send me some :) and then maybe we all could have seen your new car sooner and your kitchen that you have redone which I suppose will just be a surprise when we come for Chrsitmas :) Anyway, my dad has recently purchased himself a fun little toy, that I have not seen in person but hear that it is pretty amazing and has more features than you can imagine!

It's Beginning to Look Like Christmas!

Not the best pictures, I was expermenting with different settings, but you get the idea. Also the tallest tree in the house is about 3 feet, but we have lots of them.

A new addition was added a Christmas pointsetta. The weather was alot nicer, but it was really breezy.

Our main Christmas tree in the living room

We have the nutcrackers guarding the entrance, and the carolers singing to the visitors.

A little Christmas spirit.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree, how bright your lights are shining.

News From the Front Line

We got to talk to Sean about ten days ago. He is continuing his application process to the academy. Because of the situation in Iraq, they are going to wait and have him take his ACT’s when he gets back to Germany. This will give him more time to study. A couple of weeks ago they sent out an F-16 which came back empty, meaning they bombed somewhere (he hasn’t seen the video on the hit yet) but he was given the lanyard for that missile. It is treated like an award. When the jets come back loaded they replace the lanyard on the missile until the next load. So he was excited about that. Finally, he was named Airman of the week. What a great accomplishment to be recognized for this. I will be watching the newsletter page, and will send you a copy when it is published. He is doing well. He said it is beginning to look like Christmas in the mess hall. They have also been given packages from support your troops programs. He said he had the best cookies. He also said it was nice to know that people where thinking about them during this time of the year. The weather report is COLD. He said it is getting to be about 20-30 degrees. I didn’t know it would get that could over there. I guess the go from one extreme to another.

HAPPY Thanksgiving!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year in my brand new kitchen! That's right, it is finally completed and I couldn't ask for more! Baking went wonderfully in my new double ovens and extra counter space and cleaning was a breeze for those big pots and pans in my new larger kitchen sink. And of course best of all my two daughters and son in law flew down from Utah to spend Thanksgiving with us! And as usual the weekend went by way to fast and before you knew it they were head back home.

These are my old seminary kids!
