HEY EVERYONE!
This week was fun. We just got back from a day in the City. Went to the White House ( which is SO small) walked around the mall alot and checked out the Aerospace museum. It was way fun to get out of the ordinary. We are becoming Metro pro's now. IT was BLAZING HOT this week so we go visit members and Less actives a lot from like 10 am- 4pm because its way too hot to walk around. I never thought that i would use a handkerchief but um...You need it to wipe the pearls of sweat off the face. MAN.. whew...
DONNA ( our investigator) CAME TO CHURCH on Sunday! We were SO excited!!!!! She absolutely loved it! We are meeting again with her this week and hoping she can come again this next Sunday. We also got to teach the Law of Chastity in Gospel principles class. SO FUNNY, but good. We were really happy that the Bishop just happened to attend our class that day. We would have gotten some crazy questions. ( one can only imagine:)The lesson went really well though. Donna leaves in two weeks so we are working as fast as we can and as fast as the Lord will allow. She is GOLDEN! And so ready! Time is the only thing working against us. She even participated in all the classes and was nodding her head up and down in approval. ( that's what African Americans do in church... they Praise the LORD!). I love it... All their prayers start off with... " Father, GOD... Dear Father God .... we praise you this day... Father God"... Ill miss that a lot!
We are still working with Jack. Its been a little struggle since he really doesn't understand how to recognize if the church is true or not. But we still love him. I think that I'm really going to be taught how to work with Less actives in this area ( they are people who don't go to church always) and they are the hardest for me to work with because they know exactly what they should be doing and how to do it. But I'm learning patience and long-suffering ( best way to put it). Half the people here are less active or completely inactive.... SO frustrating. But sister Frost and I are having a good time, transfers are coming in a few weeks and we are worried because we want to stay down here together...But the mission President knows best. LOVE YOU all hope you have a great week!

Albino deer! August 13, 2009
HELLO YA'LL!
this week was HOT UP IN HERE! We got a call out from our Mission President on Monday to stay out of the sun as much as possible because with humidity it was about 110 degrees and It was hard to breathe. really. Maybe us sisters are just wimps...We have a new phraise that we made. There is this gas station called the WAWA. So Sister Frost and I stop and " get a fresh one from WAWA" for soda. haha. We feel like we are starting to fit in here in Maryland. We drive on peoples grass and everything!
I had to speak in spanish this week. That was funny. Sister Frost said that ever since I have been down here she hasn't seen any Latinos until I came. So the Spanish Elders were happy when I got them a new investigator. Thanks to my new Spanish -English dictionary I got for a dollar. We were driving and saw an Albino deer! It was the coolest thing ever. We are going to go back and try and take a snapshot of it later just like we did to the Amish this week. haha We stole thier souls. A whole family was crossing the intersection in their buggy and we followed them. We know a girl that has an Amish stalker ( Amish Dave, as she calls him) so she's going to try and see if we can get a buggy ride.
Brother Geer heard that I liked ice cold watermellon. So guess what I got yesterday for dessert? Watermellon that had been sitting in dry ice for hours! He's such a punk but it was funny and delicious. The Geer family spoils us. We are teaching this guy named Jack who has been meeting with the missionaries for a year or so now. He is so close to getting baptized he just hasn't felt like he has recieved his answer. So we are working with him. We have a new investigator named Crystal and her daughter Mia who really wants to come to church so of course we are excited. We have another lady who thinks that she is a prophet. She just up and decided that she was one day. So of course THAT was an interesting lesson when I explained to her that SHE was NOT a prophet. So I am really looking forward to our next meeting. Don't worry that she called her Paster friend ( who is also a woman) to come over right as we pulled up. Good times. I don't think that she likes me very much. Oh well. I stumped her a lot.
I love you all. and I WOULD LOVE LETTERS.... Its just me and my companion out here all the time. So send anything you want.:)

35 year old black widows! - August 5, 2009
HEY FAMILIA!
This has been a week.... So funny story about Tamera (whose child was missing)... guess what.... Shes missing too.. we have gone just about every day to her house this week and called her ( knowing people were home) and she hasn't answered us back. Vanished... so I hope all was well with her.I guess we gave her the comfort she needed.. and that was it. haha. Weird!.
We did some service this week for a less active lady in the ward. OH MY,am I grateful for a Mother that was clean and taught us how to work! We barely even made a dent in the corner of her living room... Sister Frost and I really should have gone in there with masks and flame throwers to kill / disinfect everything.. I killed more black widow spiders in 2 hours then I've ever seen before in my entire life. My favorite part was all of her children who just sat there and watched us clean up their mess.... as I politely threw away their stuff when they weren't looking.. They didn't even know they had it anyway because you couldn't see the floor. so TOO BAD!
We also stopped to check on this house and found the house that John Booth ( I think thats his first name..) hid out after he shot Abraham Lincon. kind of cool I guess.
Our investigator Michelle has a baptism date now for september 6th! So we are excited for her to work towards that. Alot is going on in her life and because of the economy. She has nine other family members living in her house with her husband and 3 kids so she's kind of going crazy right now. Other then that we are trying to find more people to teach and getting to know the members better. I had snow crab for the fist time for dinner which pretty much consisted of Sister Frost and I playing with the legs of the crab and trying to figure out the best way to rip its legs apart to actually EAT the dinner. Good times... But all is going well. I am getting use to country folk with no teeth and the fact that everyone goes to Chick Fil-A here because of the FRIED CHICKEN! I love you all. have a great week!

White Plains Down South : July 24,2009
Hey everybody!
Transfers today! MY NEW COMPANION IS SISTER FROST! From Mesa, AZ!. And I am here "down south" in the southern most part of Maryland, almost to Virgnia. FULL PROSELYTING! Which means NO VC for the next 3 months! AND IM SO EXCITED TO BE HERE! ITS AMISH COUNTRY! so instead of SAVING thier Souls , I'm going to STEAL thier souls by Taking Pictures of them! haha. just kidding... well not really. It will be fun! I'm senior companion now ( which doesn't really mean anything) but Sister Frost has only been out 3 transfers so she's still learning. Everyday will be an adventure. I'M excited too because I don't have to wear a Blazer all the time like I do when Im in the visitor center.
I got a chance to say goodbye to a few people in the Qwince Orchard ward yesterday. Good people. I hear that the ward here LOVES the missionaries and we get fed everyday!:) It will be really nice to work with memebers that care, because its not always the case out here. All the sisters that have been down south says that it feels like home. So i'm ready for that feeling and to get to work and see some success.
Wayne Marshall is going back to Jamaica and I hope Dawn is doing well we will see what happens with her( thats left overs for Sister Binte).
I'm pulling all the christmas music together and I might learn a little French and Spanish this christmas to spice things up. oi Oi! I'm healthy and strong.. I think my sick streak has passed. I'm just excited to have a new environment and new people to work with . Hope all is well ! I'll have more next week! STAY CLASSY SAN DIEGO!

Mom,
Thanks SO much for the COstco DELIGHT.. im so excited.... Sister BINTE loves Costco because we go around and eat tons of samples.... Tell chrissy Im proud of him... he should start his generals before i get home so when he gets back from the mish he can go straight to a UNIVERSITY!!!! Like.. BYU WiTH ME...
MOM HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOU CUTE LITTLE MUNCHKIN YOU. HOPE you have a great day!
HEY EVERYONE!!!
HOws it going???? WEll. 4th of July was fun...... we had a ward breakfast in the morning..... kind of awekward because it was all the people that we didn't know yet. But I won the contest for guessing how many M&Ms where in the JAR. Of course I got that right when it comes to chocolate....:). Then we had to work at the VC at night and the Senior Couples are so cute. They wanted all the foreign sisters to have a traditional American meal on that wonderful day of Independence so they made us hot dogs, patato salad and other goodies. Then they put mentos in diet coke and we watched it all blow up! The best part was on the way home; we carpooled with other sisters and it was 9:15 and the exit we were suppose to get off of was PACKED with people because the Fireworks were there right in front of us! SO we pulled over like everyone else on the freeway and watched the fireworks. Fireworks on the FREEWAY. YEAH!
I got to do a skit this week in our weekly training meeting for the visitor center. Everyone started calling me SISTER BARBARA because I pretended I was a movie director with a NEW YORK JEWISH accent so they thought I sounded like Barbara Streisand. It was fun...
I have been super sick and feeling useless the last 4 days. I have an ear infection that does NOT want to go away, even with all the medicine. My poor companion has had to play mom these last few days. I'm very grateful to her for everything. GERMANS ARE SO STUBBURN - don't worry mom she is FORCING me to take all the rest I can get. So thats been the last week. Not too exciting and I'm deaf in one ear so I feel like people are yelling at me all the time because I can't hear - but it makes for funny come backs....
Dawn has been ditching us by not coming to church the last 2 weeks and she was sick. But she did give us a call saying she is serious about us coming to teach her and that she really wants to learn. She's reading the Book of Mormon and everything else that we gave her so that's a good sign and then it makes me wonder because she also told us that along with all her other issues she has a huge lying problem... HAHA!
So extra prayers will definitely be in affect this week. Hope all is well, Miss you like a Coconut tree misses it's coconuts.

Summer is here!! June 26, 2009
HEY MY LOVASSSSS!
Its SUMMER and its getting hOOOOOOOOOTTTTT over here! We humid. I am in for a treat! SERIOUS! I have to drink 2 liters every day just to make up for what i'm sweating off. things are going good. I learned this week that there is an expression in Germany when you have a close friend or someone that you can do anything with , and I quote my companion " I would totally steal horses with them". ahha which means You could do anything with them they are so cool!.. So funny...
The work is going. We just met this girl Dawn the other night who seems sincere and really has a desire to learn about the Gospel. (which is refreshing) because people have a tendancy to be nice and tell us a specific time to come to their house... KNOWING they won't be home.. funny, funny, funny...
I got robbed this week! But it turned out to be a benefit for me because we came home right when the electricians where there in our apartment (we live by ourselves...) . They slipped a $20 right off my desk.... AND let's just say THAT DID NOT SLIP MY EYE! ... I was LIVID and made them feel bad for stealing from missionaires because THEY KNOW I WAS NOT LIEING.. and so after 20 minutes.....I MADE 35 BUCKS! haha....
YOU DON't MESS with SISTER MAMA WALT...definitly as a representative of the Lord! I made a 15$ profit for them to cover their dishonest friend. That was an exciting day.... We went out to Costco and got dinner after. What a blessing!
Interesting story #2 : We were knocking on this one door this week and all of a sudden we both look down at the bottom of the door and there were two Nazi swasticas with these little feet next to them on the bottom of the door. And SISTER BINTE... being GERMAN (straight from BERLIN) was a little upset... and I had a reality check that there really still are Nazi supporters out there... He didn't answer the door... but we saw him go to his car after...CREEPY! I would be scared to see the inside of his house. We won't be going there again.
Other then that.. Have a great week! I would SO STEAL HORSES WITH ALL OF YOU!

Mongolian Throat Singing : June 16, 2009
HELLO!
Well this week has been a great week. I'm now officially 22... big whoop. My companion is fun and teaching me funny words in German. She gave me a back message for my birthday and made me pancakes for breakfast with Nutella. We went to costco for lunch and it was a good day. My favorite part had to be the Mongolian Celebration that was going on that the Visitor Center that night. I ushered for it and it opened my eyes to a whole new world of THROAT SINGING..... never seen it before... SO COOL and weird sounding.... but i LIKED IT! and immediatly wanted to u you-tube it !. One of the other sisters and I tried it out on the car ride home and decided that we wanted to become the first women duet for throat singing in AMERICA. The most CLASSIC part of the evening was when he THROAT SANG to " I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU by Whitney Housten" Ummmm yeah , never , ever in my life would i have even thought to have seen that one. haha. mongolians are funny.
The work is coming along, we a have a few new investigators. We are trying to work a lot with the ward here, since half of them are less active (meaning... do not come to church always on Sunday)so we are trying to get to know them better and see whats going on. There are a lot of them that are apostate less actives( which always leads to interesting conversation as to why....) ... enough said about that... Wayne is doing alright, he's working later and getting ready to go back to Jamacia soon so we aren't too excited about that.
I am going to physical therapy for my ankle... which is a really good thing..so ill be doing that twice a week for the next month. ELectric shock therapy is GOOOOOOD! But I love you all and miss you like crazy!
take care xoxoxo

Jamacia Mon!!!! May 29, 2009
HEY EVERYBODY!
We are teaching WAYNE from JAMAICA MON.... He says MON after every sentence and I love it. He is visiting his cousin ( who is a member of the church) for the next two months. So we are going to try and teach him before he goes home. :) and baptize! He is a really humble guy and so ready to hear the Gospel. We want him to make us some jamaican jerk chicken too! haha. DA GOSPEL IS TRUE MON, I KNOW IT MON. Even if one person to teach is all we got right now, I know this area is going to bloom. Its only two weeks until transfers so we are going to work extra hard before sister Lanthier goes home.
It has been raining alot here and everything is so green! WE had a girl pretend she didn't speak english and she was from France so we wouldn't talk to her. As soon as my companion started speaking French she knew she was busted and " had to go suddenly". BAhhahaha. The excuses that people make up sometimes when they don't want to talk to us is SO FUNNY. I really appriciate people who flat out say they aren't interested because we ask them if they know anyone else and then Peace out. Things are going well at the Visitor Center giving tours to people and I'm learning alot about other religious backgrounds from tourists that come in. The more I learn, the more confirmation that I have that the message that I share is absolutely true and the more I love being a missionary and doing what I'm doing. Hope all is well! we haven't gotten ahold of BIG TONY ( the giant) yet... maybe next week. LOVE YOU ALL. YOU'RE IN MY PRAYERS.

Hope all is well! we haven't gotten ahold of BIG TONY ( the giant) yet... maybe next week. LOVE YOU ALL. YOU'RE IN MY PRAYERS.

TRUE PARENTS... The second coming...MAY 20, 2009
HEY HEY FROM DC!
This week has been really interesting. Things are going well we are working with this couple, Annie & Tim they are really fun. They are probablly in thier late 50's. Tim plays the Base guitar and so we decided to sing some hymns for them. This time we spiked up (Amazing grace) with a little bit of base! haha. Hes not very good. haha. But we had fun.
Ironic: Sister Lanthier and I were having a descussion on GIANTS, how after this life we will have giants because they exsisted back in ancient times. Two hours later we knocked on this door and My companion was speachless. I looked up and saw this GIANT body opening the door and you couldn't even see his head through the screen. So I had to pipe up to say who we were and why we were there while forcing out the words so we didn't look rude. HE WAS A GIANT ALMOST 8 foot tall ( NO JOKE) african american guy. WE shook his hand and ( my hands are pretty big for a girl) I FELT LIKE A MIDGET hahah . HE WAS HUGEEEEEEEEEEE. But he said we could come back and teach him. He was a B.F.G ( BIG FRIENDLY GIANT named TONY). haha.
We also met this guy who told us about TRUE PARENTS and how He was a Korean Moon God who went to hell and back and fought off demons and came back to tell us how to be TRUE PARENTS and that only through True Parents we can get back to GOD and that ADAM and EVE MESSED Up so thats why Jesus Came... So I asked him from what source he got this information and he told me a WEBSITE.. haha. oh gosh. I love poeple in MARYLAND. So if anyone wants to look up the TRUE PARENTS religion haha BY all means tell me whats up because it was probablly the weirdest thing Ive ever heard. Just another precious moment recorded in my journal. I am so gratful for the knowledge that I do have! Thats about all for this week. I love and miss you all!The ankle is doing better no worries!
