The Dove Conundrum

Greetings. Thank you for stopping by the Guild Hall. Today we received a frantic message from a couple that were about to be married tomorrow afternoon. It seems the two dozen doves they were planning on releasing at the ceremony had gone missing. The bride was desperate to have them back as they held sentimental value to her. I wasn’t one to turn down a quest, especially from a bride-to-be, so the Guardian of Glitter and I set about creating a tracking spell to see if we could locate the missing doves.

I started this shaker card by cutting the rectangular frame and wedding couple out using the “Stretch Your Imagination” cartridge. I assembled the shaker part, filling it with wedding confetti I purchased at the Everything-For-One-Brass-Coin stand at the market. The banner I cut using the “Rock Princess” cartridge and stamped it with the My Pink Stamper “Birthday Crazy” set. The base of the card was embossed with my Cuttlebug, earning my +111 bumpy XP points.

On the inside I stamped the sentiments using the Lawn Fawn “Sophie’s Sentiments” and “On the Mend” sets. I kept it clean inside since it was going to be signed by a large group of people.

This card will shake up the following challenges:

Once we got a lock on their location, it was simply a matter of riding there and retrieving the stolen birds. We were surprised to learn that the thief was none other than the bride’s own sister. It was revealed that two of the doves were actually the girls’ parents, having been transmogrified by an evil wizard a year prior. The problem was when the bride purchased doves to release at her wedding, they no longer knew which ones were their parents, all the doves looking the same. As she was still holding onto the hope they would be able to change them back, the sister didn’t want them released for fear of losing them forever. It looked as though the Guardian of Glitter and I had a long night ahead of us concocting a reversal spell.

The Rockin' Wisps

Tonight the Lady Commander of Copics, Guardian of Glitter and I headed into the village to attend a rock concert that was taking place. A group called The Whispering Wisps was playing and we thought we could use a night off from questing. That’s not to say that we didn’t bring any weapons...especially after what has transpired at previous concerts in the village.

This card was created for the Creative Card Crew’s music challenge that is happening now. Make a musically themed card for your chance to win a prize from our two sponsors: Marianne Design and KennyK Downloads.

I started this card by colouring the KennyK “Cabaret” image with Prismacolor pencils. I then cut out the guitar using the Rock Princess cartridge. The stars I cut using the Accent Essentials cartridge and the shape the sentiment is on was cut using the Art Philosophy cartridge. This earned me +333 triple tech XP points for using three different cartridges on one card. The sentiment I stamped using The Greeting Farm’s “Creeper Crew Collection” kit.

On the inside I created the sentiment using the Lawn Fawn “Jessie’s ABCs” set and then stamped the music notes with the Crafty Secrets “Party Animals” set.

The envelope was also blasted with the little music notes, using colours that matched the front of the card to make it all matchy-match just the way I like it.

This card will jam in the following challenges:

It turns out The Whispering Wisps did not try to murder any of the townsfolk and were actually quite talented. The lead singer, Wyonna, wooed the male attendees with her tight leather outfit and sultry voice, but that was as dangerous as the night got. After the concert was over, the three of us headed back to the Guild Hall singing Whispering Wisps songs along the way. That’s when we were attacked by brigands...there can never just be a quiet night. *siiiiiigh*

A Sudsy Load

Good day dusty traveller. Since moving into the Guild Hall, I have always disliked the laundering chambers. Mostly due to the complete lack of decoration. There are no pictures and no window coverings to speak of. It literally echoes in the chamber. For the past fortnight I have been spending my nights by candlelight in the crafting chambers working away to rectify that problem.

click for +55 enlargement exp points
I bought this collage frame super cheap from Wal-Mart specifically to make something for my barren laundry room. Here is the finished project complete with mini clothes pins, buttons and pearls all glued on. Let’s go through it a panel at a time though...

Every stamp on this panel was an ink virgin until this project. The shirts are from the Unity “The Man” set. I paper pieced the ties onto a different colour cardstock then stamped them with some flowers from the Unity “With Sympathy” set. The tag is also a Unity stamp, but I don’t know what it’s called as it was included free in an order with no packaging. The sentiment is from the Unity “Loads of Love” set.

Next panel. Ummm...yikes...probably should've cleaned the dust off this frame before taking pics. Oopsies. *ahem*...moving on... I cut some of my beloved My Little Shoebox paper for the background. *sob* The clothesline I diecut using the Country Life cartridge. The little birds and gnome are all from the Lawn Fawn “Gnome Sweet Gnome” set. I stamped them onto watercolour paper and using Distress Markers and my Hydra Brush of +77 wetness coloured them in.

This next one is a panel from a piece of Cosmo Cricket paper...I believe the collection was called Clementine. Well, the 12x12 sheet had six different panels on it and I used three for this project. I added the buttons from the Unity “Sew Cute” set by stamping them onto coloured cardstock and simply cutting them out.

This image was also cut from the Country Life cartridge. I embossed and inked the bubbles and the tub before gluing it all together. The little decorative corners I cut using the Art Philosophy cartridge.

I was super pumped to use my ink virgin “Simply Anya” from The Greeting Farm and the laundry basket (also previous uninked) from the Unity “Loads of Love” set and this panel actually ended up being my least favourite. "Simply Anya" I stamped onto watercolour paper and used Distress Markers and my waterbrush weapon to colour her in. This panel earned me +44 sadness exp points because I was disappointed with the end result.

The background of this was another panel from that Cosmo Cricket paper. The underwear and sentiment came from the Unity “Change is a Good Thing” set. I had fun going through my scraps and finding different patterns to stamp the underwear on. Teehee.

The only panel that has nothing to do with laundry. I decided to make one with our last name. I diecut the letters using the Rock Princess cartridge. The background paper I stamped with a bunch of different Unity stamps. The bird I don’t know what it’s called as it was another packageless freebie (and also an ink virgin). The feather, uninked until now, is from the Unity “Tail Feather” set. The vintage looking gal in the corner who got her ink cherry popped on this project, is from the Unity “Gossip, Hot Flashes & Crazy” set. Oh...I lied...they’re not all Unity stamps...in the top right corner I stamped something from the Tim Holtz “Reflections” set. I diecut the flower and whooshes from the Art Philosophy cartridge, stamping the green parts with that same “Reflections” stamp. That was a LOT of different stamps for one panel - sheesh. I did manage to collection +824 inky exp points for using so many uninked stamps!

Okay last one. Err...this is simply one of the panels from the Cosmo Cricket paper. I literally did nothing else to it other than glue it onto some background paper so it would fit the 4x6 slot.

And here it is hanging in my laundry room! YAY!

This collage will wash up in the following challenges:

After hanging my new creation on the wall a door suddenly materialized behind it! It seems I had triggered some sort of spell by hanging a piece of art in the exact spot the invisible hidden door existed. With great trepidation and a little excitement I stepped through the door into the blackness beyond...

Cupcakes 4 U

Tonight is the Cupcake Cascade celebration in the village square. This is my favourite festival of the summer for the simple reason that...well...I love cupcakes. Om nom nom nom!! The Lady Commander of Copics and I basically starved ourselves all day, in anticipation of pigging out on the sugary cakes at the festival. My stamina points were at an all time low, but luckily I managed to roll a solid 18 on my d20, granting me just enough power to make it to the square and begin inhaling the little treats.

First thing I did was stamp The Greeting Farm’s “Birthday Anya II” onto some watercolour paper and colour her up with Distress Markers and my Hydra Brush of +88 wetness. Next I used the Unity “1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Thousand Cupcake Calories” stamp and Spun Sugar Distress Ink to create the super subtle background. I then pulled out the Rock Princess cartridge and used it to die cut the sentiment.

On the inside I created the sentiment using the Lawn Fawn “Sophie’s Sentiment” set and the Unity “Fabulous Girl” set. I also stamped some more cupcakes on the bottom.

The envelope was also attacked by the cupcake stamp, tying everything together and earning me +2945 sweet exp points. Yum.

This birthday card will celebrate in the following challenges:

The festival was so much fun, with bakers from all over the realm in attendance to peddle their tasty wares. I do believe that we will have to spend tomorrow in the training room to burn off all these extra calories though. Maybe I can find a spell that would accomplish the same thing....hmm....

Shrieking Harpies Strike

It has been about three moon cycles since the last musical performance at the village square, which, after the last debacle, doesn’t seem quite long enough. After the Wolf’s Bane concert disaster, you can image my concern when I got word that their sister band, Shrieking Harpies, was planning on playing in the village square. I wasn’t taking any chances and rounded up the whole Guild, making sure we were well armed before heading to the village square in anticipation of the worst.
This card was created for the Creative Card Crew’s “Bling” challenge that is happening now. You can win a $15 voucher from our sponsor Scrapping Center who sell a multitude of crafty items!

One of my co-workers at the horse carriage repair shop spotted this card and requested a “girl version” in pink for her niece. {QUEST ACCEPTED}! I started by colouring The Greeting Farm’s “Leslie” using Prismacolors and paper piecing her hat. Instead of colouring the button on her hat, I glued an actual button overtop and added a rhinestone to the center, earning myself +79 blingy exp points. The guitar I cut using the Rock Princess cartridge. I used Glossy Accents on the guitar and added more rhinestones and a ribbon. The shape for the sentiment was cut using the Art Philosophy cartridge. The sentiment came from The Greeting Farm’s “Creeper Crew Collection”, which incidentally is also the set the image is from.

On the inside I embossed the one side with music notes using my Cuttlebug. I stamped the pulse lines using the Dylusions “Bordering on the Edge” set.

I stamped the pulse lines again on the envelope to make it all matchy-match and added some little music notes.

This card will be rockin’ in the following challenges:
Anyone for Anya: Recycled Week (the vellum for the wings was recycled from a “protective covering” that was on a wedding invite I received and the ribbon was recycled from a wedding favour I received...different weddings - lol)

Surprisingly the concert went well. The Shrieking Harpies played for about two hours and everyone left unharmed. The four of us were on our way back to the Guild Hall commenting on how perhaps we overreacted, when we spotted the worst. One of our barns was aflame and our house gnomes were rushing around frantically trying to control the blaze. I sprinted up the hill the rest of the way to the Guild Hall. Grabbing Olga, who was rushing to the barn with a pail of water, I demanded to know what happened. Through sobs she said once we had all departed for the village, some bandits showed up at the Guild Hall, stealing various items and setting the barn ablaze. Some of the hellhounds had been slain trying to fight them off. Shaking with anger I asked if she knew who they were. Olga choked back a sob, “They...they said they were part of a group c-c-called the Shrieking Harpies.” We had been played for fools. Lured away so the Guild Hall could be looted. Vengeance would be mine.

Fashionably Sassy

In the market square today there was to be a fashion show. Apparently a famous designer from across the Pearlescent Sea was here, displaying his newest designs. The Lady Commander of Copics and I decided to have a look and maybe find something to replace some of the old tunics that are getting a little worn. When we arrived, there was no mistaking who the designer was. He wore a silky black tunic and a puffy pink scarf. The man seemed rather stressed, throwing his hands up in exasperation and shouting orders at his troupe of halflings.
I created this card by stamping The Greeting Farm’s “Sunday” image on several patterned papers and painstakingly cutting his clothes and hair out to paper piece him together. I used the Art Philosophy cartridge to cut the large “stamp” border and embossed the edge piece with my Cuttlebug. I used the Rock Princess cartridge for the stars.
Earning myself +183 sparkly exp points, I added some glitter to the stars and some square shaped gems to each corner of the card. The sentiment I stamped using the Dylusions “Say It How It Is” set.

On the inside I used another postage stamp cut from Art Philosophy and some stars I had left over. The sentiments were stamped using the My Creative Time “Wow! So Many Candles” set and the My Pink Stamper “Birthday Crazy” set respectively.

I stamped the envelope to coordinate with the card. The green is a little “off”, but it was the closest match I had to the neon green I used on the card.

This sassy creation will sashay into the following challenges:
Desert Islands Crafters Challenge #52: (used #1- no flowers #3 - no markers #4 - follow a sketch #6 - use glitter #7 - bling it up

The Lady Commander of Copics and I didn’t end up purchasing anything as the fashions that were on display were a little too impractical for our needs. We did however enjoy the “show” as we sipped on tea at a nearby cafe and watched as the diva designer lost his cool on everyone he encountered.
