as you can see... i am getting very bored with school... lifes the same every weekday... weekends are not much better... oh... this week end is london games... and sunday is victorians day! ... hmm... its great that victorians finally have a proper organisation in the u.k. ... catching up with rafflesians and erm... hwa chongians?? brain child of a few good men frm vj in uk...

24/7 production coming up... good thing that i am only involved in a small part... want to watch the musical wicked... but kinda clash with rehearsal... will see how after todays rehearsal... see if i can afford to skip one for wicked... dont think it will make a diff... see how...

must whack musicals now... next year dun need artsoc membership liaoz!!!

Blogskin Update: version 2.1

haha... well... i tweaked the html template a bit due to the fact that i cant stand the way firefox makes my blog looks... i mean... come on... just take a look at that scroll bar in my chatbox... if its grey, ugly and totally does not blend in with the rest of my blog's colour scheme... den you are using firefox... if the scroll bar is nicely blended into the blog's colour scheme... den you are using IE... its simple... firefox makes my scroll bar stick out like a sore thumb.. its hideous...

anyway... i changed the template to so that it fits both 16:9 widescreens and 4:3 screens better... so firefox is not to be blamed totally... even though i dun like firefox... yup... and i got rid of my post's column's scroll bar (which firefox disfigures) as well... so double problem solved... yay

also.. its a pain that IE and firefox browers read html differently... found out the hard way last week... i modified my skin and it looked great on IE... but was very screwed up on firefox... had to change it so that the html accommodates both browers... sux...

oh... and when you scroll... only the posts should move... if the chat box or links scroll as well... den i think its time to upgrade to IE 7 or higher... firefox should be fine... i think...

and of course... i cant possibly check all types of browers (like netscape and safari)... and i am not a professional web editor or designer or whatever u like to call them... so if this blogskin looks wrong on ur browser... i would appreciate a constructive "your blogskin sux" comment...

Down to Earth

Hmm.... a simple drawing by a simple guy... i like things simple... i like them easy on the mind... the simplest things are usually the hardest to produce... simple?... its more than that...

Well, its green week.. and i went to watch the movie by al gore about global warming... it was screened at my lecture theatre and i tot it might be interesting... 'an inconvenient truth'... and it was frightening... i was shocked at the severity of it... so severe that it reminded me about revelations... about the end times... i always held that global warming was over-rated... that the earth is much more resilient than wat 'dooms-day' environmentalist want us to believe... i was wrong... so wrong... when someone gives u a statistic and then gives the scientific scource of that statistic... it is hard to discredit it... looking at pictures of glaciers that we used to have 20 years ago... looking at how much antartica shrank in the last 30 years... well... all i can say is that the guy who was the next u.s. president... hit home the message...

perhaps its time to start recycling... put aside dreams of owning big luxurious cars... maybe i should take up the green technology module is year 3... maybe i (we) should really spread the message... our future is at stake... no less...

more importantly... there is still hope... remember about CFCs and the Montreal Protocol?? well... 17 years down the road... the ozone is no longer enlarging... and we are starting to see signs of it returning to pre-1970 conditions... which is great news...

well... we already hold the technologies to reduce CO2 emmisions... whats lacking is the moral and political will to do so... the kyoto protocol is not good enough... we as civilised beings must endorse green technology... and disencourage dirty technology... please throw away that suv... protest against irresponsible coal power plants... Afterall, is it really that hard to use public transport??... to build wind trubines and solar cells??... to use energy saving bulbs and turn off the lights when not needed?? we can do our part... earth is our only home... treat it like one...

CNY!! Chinese Fondue!!!!...

Happy Chinese New Year to everyone!!!... especially family and friends... cny in london not so happening... but at least fireworks and fire crackers are legal here... went to chinatown to see the fireworks... somehow the bang bang bang reminded me of live firing...haha... anyway... had a good pseudo cny 'reunion' yesterday with the malaysians, our swiss friend stephan and his sister... and we had CHINESE FONDUE!!!! oooo.... aaaaahhhhh.... yummy.... den we had swiss chocolate fondue.... oooo... ahhh... and yummy again... hahaha

yup we went shopping to get our chinese fondue... den got it prepared and enjoy!!... yup yup... we also lau yu shen prepared by one of the subwardens whos a malaysian... haha...

yup chinese fondue!!! haha... chinese fondue??! wth is chinese fondue?!!! i hear u ask... chinese fondue is actually steam boat... haha... thats what the swiss ( or at least stephan called it)... haha... wow... eye opener.... chinese fondue... doesnt it sound so exquisite??... haha... i bet you din know that... now u know how i felt when i first heard it... dun believe... go and google chinese fondue... and realise that chinese fondue is quite well known... haha...

Blogskin version 2.0

originally, the blog skin cant be viewed properly on firefox... which is weird cos its fine on IE... and both reads the same html language... so i have no idea what went wrong... i probably deleted or added some extra thing in my script that just screwed up the firefox brower only... i designed using IE you see... so the preview and blog was viewed and edited by what i saw on IE... anyway... re-did the html and now it works...

btw... i did not do the full script from scratch... yeah.. i merely edited the minima black template from blogger to get where i am... yup... added a new column... used www.dynamicdrive.com to add my mini scroll window for my posts... changed the colours and fonts and background... and drew some random thing for my background... haha...

ok... now it works on both firefox and IE... the only thing is the scroll bar for firefox... cant change the colour of the scroll bar... sianz... anyway... just use IE... haha... looks better... haha.... but both work now... yay..

Dirty Green Blogskin!!!

hmm... looks like my blogskin's colour has gotten some unwanted attention... well... glad you guys noticed my new blogskin... haha.. kinda hard not to since its in goey green or what ever you think it looks like.. (for optimum viewing performance, please use 32-bit colour display on control panel)... hahaha... just joking..

actually, i intended the colour scheme to be largely blue with some striking orange to contrast it instead of the current green and purple colour scheme... however, i just could not find the right shade of blue... a lighter blue will be too glaring as a background colour while a darker blue would render my post difficult to read... the contrast between blue and black is horrible... and i wanted my posts font to be black... so blue was out... red was too CNY but this final shade of green worked very well with the black font colour of my posts and was not bright and glaring... i have no idea why this is so... maybe different lcd screens will yield different results.. anyway... thereafter, i added purple in place of the orange... to give contrast and some eccentricity.. hehe.. haha... yeah.. this is how it got its colours... used this site to help choose my colours too... as in which colours complements and contrasts green or any other colour... yeah... http://www.colorschemer.com/online.html

Also, i designed this blogskin to be viewed on widescreen lcd.. cos my lappie is a typical 16:9 widecreen... so when viewed on a normal 4:3... everything will look squashed on the top... i am still trying to rectify this... maybe some of you know how to adjust the height of the scroll window of the main column to fit the screen instead of my current method of fixing it at 450px... please do enlighten me...

wierd Saturday

ok... this is how my saturday went... not terribly exciting but its unusual... good and bad...

at 1 or 2 am, the fire alarm went off. (what a way to start a weekend!! -_- haizz ). ok... at that time i had just slept like 15 mins ago ... only to get a rude awakening... i was understandably grumpy... and extremely irritated... after much deliberation, i grabbed a jacket and went down... it was cold... it was drizzling... i was miserable... some one tried to bake brownies... got bored and decided to get everyone else in the hall 'involved' by having a gathering at fire evacuation site... after investigation, the culprit was later apprehended, banned from baking for a year, given 5 strokes of the cane and deported to antartica... god bless him...

at 1 or 2 pm, played floorball at the official sing soc london floorball grand championship!! haha... ok... i was exaggerating... its a tournament of six teams organised by imperial sing soc... but but but... my team [LXG] topped our group! haha... pleasantly surprised... maybe cos the best team is in the other group... we call them the london all stars... b'cos almost all of the team members are national floorball or hockey players... well, anyway... LXG lived up to its name that day... yeah ... LXG stands for lou xia gou... aka... underdogs... haha... the other funny team name was KFC... haha... klement's floorball club... haha... cool... interesting... awsome... LXG will play KFC in the semi...

hmm... it may or may not be a well known fact... but london cops are well known for driving on the other side of the road in times of emergency... in other words... cops are allowed to disobey the law when needed... anyway... experienced it for the very very first time yesterday... reminds me of grand theft auto... got car, got road... can anyhow drive... kinda dangerous though... but with all the sirens and flashing blue lights... on-coming traffic will just have to give way... haha.. maybe i should zhng my car to have sirens and flashing blue lights as well.. but i need to get a car first...

oh well, thank God my sunday was normal... other than a mech eng photoshoot... last sunday was pretty much the same as this sunday... yup yup... the routines of life... boring... a well deserved rest day before monday starts all over again... but but... this week contains v-day and cny... wow... what are the odds of that? should be interesting... haha

snowed again!!

haha... snowed again... and quite heavily in the morning... someone actually wrote a big "happy v-day" on the queen's lawn... haha... too bad by midday the sun's ray turned most of the snow into sludge... yucks... weather also damn cold... suddenly, global warming doesnt seem like such a bad idea... bbbrhrrhhrrhh... still not used to the cold... will never be... i hate the cold... got some pics in my phone but i dun know how to send it to my comp... so cant post them... hmm.. oh well.. too bad...

end of spring week 4

hmm... another good weekend... went paint-balling on saturday!! ...haha... not cheap... but still a tiny bit cheaper than singapore... so... well... glad sing soc organised it... was fun!! oh well... we din win much... i guess army training does not help at all when it comes to paint-balling... haiz... all the sing-ka-por NSmen got trashed by civilian ang mohs... haha... and really trashed... like we won one game, drew one game and got totally defeated in the other six games!! haha... hmm... i guess edwin our safos "future general" should rethink saf doctrines and training... hahaha... so malu... if was war... i would have died 8 times liaoz... but it was an experience... body aching sia... both from muscle aches and bruises... discovering new bruises each time i bathe... haha... at least i am not as bruised as others...

went to lip en and xiufang's place for dinner after that... haha... good to have such dinners... should have it more often... its just nice to sit around, chat and eat home cooked food with ur friends... definitely not something we do in singapore... well... it just feels different from eating out... guess both have its pros and cons...

well... haven really thanked God for my progress test... yup... because i wasnt happy about it... i really deserved more than wat i got... i mean... how can anyone be satisfied knowing that you could have gotten more... or knowing that things should/could have been so much better... anyway... when good things happen to you... you thank God... wouldnt it make sense that when things dun go ur way that you blame God too? but as you know... things dont work that way... simply because all things happen according to His will... and i guess His will overwrites my will... just too bad... i am afterall just mere man... weak and dependent on Him... yup... prayed to let Jesus know that i wasnt happy about what i got and that i want more next time round (final exams... hehe...) you know... it is not about the results... resultswise, for me at least, i did not do too badly... got an a for all the tests and placed sixth overall... (the other two singaporeans placed higher at 1st and third) .... which means (as i had probably explained in a previous post) that we are in the top fifth of our cohort and our school term would end on 1st june... or about 3 weeks before the official end of the school year... but still... for such an easy test... i really should have done better... getting 80s instead of the 90s and 95s is sad... really... Ben Loh who top the course got full marks for 4 of the 5 tests... yeah... said it just to show how attainable 90s and 95s for tests were... haizz... i know that i am better than my 80s... its not about the numbers or results... its about fulfilling ur potential and expectations... oh well... sorry for whinning... cant really do anything about it except whine... maybe if i "whine" enough... God may just give in and let me have my way like the parable of the women and the heartless judge... haha... i know... whining is not good... but i dun really care... i cant help it that i still feel dissatisfied about the progress test... decided to finally personally tell God about it... dun know what took me so long to cast my cares and feelings upon Him... as a singaporean, it should have been my first instinct to go to Jesus and comprain and comprain... and comprain... haha... i realise that i always pray about present worries and for future blessings instead of complaining about the past... and of course not forgetting to thank Him for the good things in life... or at least the things that i appreciate and have not yet taken for granted... haha... hmmm... maybe i should comprain about the dull winter weather and to ask for snow too... haha... oh well... dear Lord. I pray for snow. I want snow... Pleeaasee send snow. Pleeaaasseeee. please. please please please send snow. Thank you. Amen. =)

oh well... ok... time to get my laundry...
