After 3 weeks

I have to admit this, I miss Simply YOUnited.

t has only been slightly more than 3 weeks since we've multiplied. Time passes by quickly. With a blink of an eye, believe it or not the first quarter of the year has just ended. Everything came and went quickly. So quick that it just makes me wonder where am I standing now.

Haha =P Anyway, I hope both Glow United and Hearts United are doing well. I will keep praying for both Glow and Hearts United.

All things are possible through Christ! Right now, I have to keep reminding myself that. Keep the faith and keep believing!

Goodnight!

warm greetings from Brissy! =)

hello everyone back home!!=)

Greetings from Brisbane! how is everyone doing now? how's cell? i'm really glad to hear that the cell has multiplied! congrats to wai nyan being a new cell leader! whoa, is exactly one month now since the day i arrived Brisbane, should i say time flies? maybe yes and maybe no because my heart still missing everyone back home. But as time goes time, i feel i'm quite adjusted to the life here and God has been really awesome and good to me. He had answered my prayers, He surrounded me with so many new friends, they are really kind and caring. thank God for siew ching for taking care of me for the 1st week, she has been really nice to me, she is just my big sister here..haha.. without her help, i think i will be very lost here.

i've settled down in Hope Brisbane Church and also have been attending cell every friday night.People in Hope are so warm and kind, just like SIB-ians. The service in Hope is quite similar to SIB, the difference is most of the people in HOPE are uni students and yound adults.hehe.

i am staying with 3 singaopreans housemates, they are really nice people and keep the house very clean, i would say the house now is cleaner than my house back home. haha..uni is too huge, is quite tiring to walk from one class to another one, but i am quite used to walking now. i really miss driving my car in Mal. haha!

talking about my eating habit here, for SURE, i've gained weight, my face is getting rounder and chubbier, i ate too much cabo food as well as dairy products. i promise myself to lose some weights before i come back for good. haha!!!!

i'm still adapting to the culture here, must always get up early to get things done but as u can see now i am still not in bed yet.=( shops close around 5pm even on weekends.=( no "mamaking" like in kl.Also, i am still learning to listen to the aussie accent, they speak real fast sometimes till i need to pardon them few times. >< href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvIJFonPlp3ECQpJBt3mJ83U__05n0GkHn2gtH3oxb5MUb3TQ5Fc7CXh7oXngKJr_g7Wb08xbcBv7OO_NuGzxKa1Ogi4lPSm-oq4NdpScmkpVQWedshqlmMsEpBKRdlJ79jwWbYw/s1600-h/DSC04395.JPG">

WE'RE MEETING AGAIN!

Dear all Simply YOUnited-ians,

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

After the relatively long silence, once again, let's START THE YEAR AGAIN WITH A BANG! =o)

Wow... we're in year 2008 already.
As I spent a little time to look at my year 2007,
it sums up to one phrase...
AMAZING GRACE!!!

Truly, throughout year 2007, there were so many things that weighed me down, in so many areas, in so many ways. Mistakes, pride, weaknesses, disappointments, disapprovals, and so much more.

But as I look back in year 2007, it's truly GOD. It might sound clique, but it really IS HIM! Not because I was worthy & did anything so great (tho' there were many good & awesome moments)... but it WAS/IS simply His AMAZING GRACE.

Truly, we have an AMAZING Father in Heaven that looks down, carries us in His hands, & help us journey on.

SO IT'S TIME TO KICK START THE YEAR AGAIN!!!
Are you ready to LOVE JESUS MORE THIS YEAR???

There is a NEW + EXCITING START that Simply YOUnited is embarking on this year. I truly encourage all to NOT MISS this 1st cell meeting of the year because we are ready for the NEXT STAGE!

DETAILS...
DATE: 11 January 2008 (Friday)
TIME: 8 pm

(PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE NEW TIME FOR CELL)

Greetings from UK!!!

Hello everyone!!!

First of all ...
I MISS YOU, SIMPLY YOUNITED!!!!

How's everyone doing ? Wow, Lindy, sounds like fun!!! I wanna go for cell too!!

Anyway, for those who didn't know. I had a really funny encountered at the airport before I board the plane. My flight from Kul-Dubai supposed to be at 12.30am on 20th Nov'07. The thing is, KLIA has recently imposed on a new rule which is the credit card holder must be present to prove that the ticket is being bought by the person.

So guess what, so happened that the tickets that we have is booked online by my brother in law and the credit card is definitely with him. Like duh! of course... so we couldn't board the plane. MY sister and I were so shocked! My goodness. Imagine, we were the last one in line to queue for check in. And the best thing was, on that same night, there were to 2 flights going to Dubai and both check in line got mixed up.

There was a delayed for those who were boarding the earlier flight. So yea.. .what a start for a "holiday".... LOLX.... So.. after much awaited time with plenty of phone calls made here and there, with lots of prayers.... Finally they rescheduled us to the next flight at 2.30am. I was in Dubai for 3 days.

Then I left Dubai to UK on Friday. I'm currently staying in Sovereign Harbour, in Eastbourne. Its a beautiful place. And I've yet to take any pictures! I'm staying in an apartment by the beach. Its sooo beautiful. Lots of pebbles by the beach and every morning, you can see many residents walking along the beach with their dogs. Haha! What an English day. Lolx...

So yeap, that's my update for now. I hope to visit a church this coming Sunday. But I'm still not familiar with the place around here. So really, need to pray hard!! I will post up more pictures next.
Take care everyone!! God bless!! Love ya all!!!

We were playing an ice breaker game at cell group. Yee San's brilliant idea of having everyone write down nasty actions on pieces of paper whereby the person who "loses" has to do whatever was written on the paper. So lo and behold, Yee San lost... and her so-called punishment? To kiss Wai Nyan. LOL.

She didn't even wanna give him a peck on the cheek... sungguh tak sporting langsung. On one hand, Wai Nyan looked like he was wishing that Yee San wouldn't kiss him; and on the other, Yee San is being pressured by all of us to kiss him. Muahahaha! Anyway, enjoy the vid!

P/S: Yee San... see? Told ya that I'll post it on the blog! :D

Lord I offer my life to You

All that I am, all that I have
I lay them down before you O Lord
All my regrets, all my acclaim
The joy and the pain, I'm making them yours

Chorus:
Lord I offer my life to You
Everything I've been through
Use it for your glory
Lord I offer my days to You
Lifting my praise to You
As a pleasing sacrifice
Lord I offer You my life

Things in the past, things yet unseen
Wishes and dreams that are yet to come true
All of my hopes, all of my plans
My heart and my hands are lifted to You.

Isaiah 41:10

So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Luv,
danLo

First Week Back in Birmingham

Hello all. Not much's been going on but as promised, this is my just-got-back-to-uni update. Haha. :)

I got back a week ago and have pretty much settled down and gotten into the rhythm of everything. (I hope.) Last week was basically just getting used to the time difference (i.e. sleeping to my heart's content) and shopping. :) My first 2 days back I was alone in my house cause my housemates weren't back yet so, I had lots of quiet quality time to emo and miss home. Haha. I think I've had too good a summer holiday so, it's been harder to get over that whole homesick feeling one gets the moment one says bye to one's mum. :) I didn't have to fly over on my own cause my parents were going to Kenya so, I got to fly with them to Dubai where I had to sit and wait very patiently for 4 hours to get onto my next flight and continue watching Toy Story. :)

This is my mummy.
If you see her in church you can go up to her and say 'hi aunty'. :)

Since Yun-Ni put picture of her room, I put also. Hahahaha. :) There is no picture of the other side of the room because that side looked like Reptar had waded through all my belongings, eaten them up and spat them out again. :)

I'm currently living with 2 girls: one from Singapore and one from Indonesia. They're both doing medicine as well so, I literally see them ALL the time. The one from Indo was away this week travelling with her family so, I spent the whole week with Tracy doing nothing. The boredom factor increased with every passing moment and we had to constantly entertain/annoy each other. This eventually led to a brownie baking fest and then proceeded to eat all of it. :)

Apart from that, I haven't really done anything interesting. When I do, I will blog again. :) I had my first day of lectures today. It was a looooooooooooooooooong day of introductory lectures. But it was really good too cause I got to see friends who I haven't seen over the summer. It was also a tad frightening cause, there are people missing as well. Not literally, but missing in the batch. There are people who didn't quite make it in the 1st year and therefore could not proceed on to the 2nd year. That is just scary. I even know some of these people and it's really sad cause they won't be in my year anymore. My housemates and I have decided that we need to study even harder cause, we've got a terribly long journey ahead of us and we can't afford to.. fail. :S I've got some pretty decent targets and goals set for this academic year and I'm really trusting God to help me accomplish them. So, please pray for me and my year of challenges ahead! :)

I think that's pretty much it. I miss you guys back home. :) Hope everyone's well! xx

Oh ya. These are my housemates (plus a boyfriend) on our way to Cheshire Oaks.

Dear Simply Younited-ians or Simply-ians, or however you call yourselves, greetings from a very ulu place in Wales!

For those of you who do not know, i am now studying in the United World College of the Atlantic in Wales. Its actually really cool because its a very very multicultural environment here as they have quotas of how many students they want from each country. Its so interesting because everyone is from really different backgrounds, cultures and religions. in my house, ive got israelis and palestinians living together, and ive even got refugees studying with us. almost 20 percent of the students are from the UK though.

just to give you an idea of how multicultural my housemates are, in this picture, there is a german, an american, an english, a welsh, a dutch, a palestinian and two norwegians. i was the photographer. hehe.

When i first arrived at the college, i was just so awestruck because it is so pretty here. Honestly, this is as pretty a school can get. There’s this really old castle here where we eat, have activites and even have some of our classes.Sometimes, when i walk into the castle, i still find it hard to believe that i am studying in a castle and it just seems so surreal. And its just not any castle, its so rich in history and it is also rated as the most haunted castle in Wales! (By the way, i just came back with a bunch of first years from exploring the castle at night. It was really scary. There are so many dark staircases leading to so many places, like secret passages!)

thats me with my argentinian housemate. we hiked in the forest quite a bit to get up to that watch tower. you can see an aerial view of the castle in the background..

Not only that, we have an awesome garden, an amazing seaview, and a huge forest by the cliff. There’s even a sheep and cow farm in campus!

the dandelions here are humongous and i love it!

My room is really quite basic though. I have a really small cupboard, a drawer and just a bed. And the worst thing is, the showers are COMMUNAL. So that means that i have to bathe naked in front of all the girls everyday! Im really not used to it yet! Still very shy...heheh. but i will get used to it sooner or later cause im going to be in this college for two whole years! Food here is not that great too. Sometimes its really tasteless, but sometimes its really yummy. They try to make some asian/foreign food so that the students feel more at home, but theyre really hopeless in doing those. In these aspects, it makes me miss home a lot. Im still not used to sharing my room with 3 other people, and im also not used to not having my family around me. But i have really been so busy since i got here, so i guess that helped me adapt more, and not think about homey stuff.

the super basic room.

I have not started studying yet because so far i only had orientations which goes on for two weeks. But it has really been interesting because i got to try out so many activities too. Ive done rock climbing, sat on lifeboats and i even drove them, archery etc.! And i will be having a camp soon and there, i will be learning how to surf and also doing water activities like coaststeering. I really cant wait. It is quite cold here but its bearable. One thing that i really like about this school is how they treat the services you choose to do as important as your academics (i only study from 8am-1pm on weekdays!) I will soon have to choose a particular service where i will spend a minimum of 2 hours, twice a week on it. I can only choose one and so far, ive been thinking of doing either social services or lifeguards. I want to do social services because i think its really fulfilling but i also want to do lifeguards because i get to learn how to surf and i want the exercise so i wont grow fat here. Haha. There are also so many activities that im thinking of joining and there are a lot of opportunities to get involved in noble causes here.

On a lighter side, people here are really friendly. I think its especially so because most of the first years do not know anyone when they first came and they make an effort to make friends with other ppl.

malaysian, mauritian, scottish and hongkee.

I have not attended any church services here, but ive found people who told me that there is a church in the nearest city, which is a FORTY FIVE minute walk away! But i was told that a few families volunteer to fetch the college student every week. Very near to my castle though, is the oldest church in wales, because the family that used to reside in the castle was one of the first christians in wales, so they built a church there. The cemetery there is so scary and old too! But im not planning to attend tht church because its catholic. There is also a christian fellowship here which meets once a week if im not mistaken, but i will only start all these when the orientations are all over.

I really have been enjoying since i got here and i think this will be a very interesting place to study for the next two years of my life. But to be realistic, i still feel a little homesick and im not used to quite a lot of things yet.

Well, i guess thats all i have to say so far about the one week that i have been here so far. Ill be coming back in december which isnt that far off so ill see you guys then! Till december, take care and God bless!
