Elfie

Elfie did not disappoint this Christmas...
even though he showed up a little late he was able to drum up plenty of mischief.

One night he even wrapped the kitchen table
up and wrote a note indicating that it was a gift.
 What a tease!

Above: The children write several notes every night for Elfie and wake up early because they are anxious to read his responses.

All of the girls worked hard to save up money
and buy gifts for one another this year.
Because Aspen is not yet old enough to be a part of the Family Economy, earning money take much more effort, yet she was determined to complete countless chores to earn up money to buy each of her sisters a gift.

She just so happened to be ill on the day it worked for us to go to buy the gifts, but she was so eager to finally buy the gifts that her yucky feelings vanished for our
quick trip to the dollar store.

After what ended up being a very tedious gift selection process I watched her eagerly stand in line with her bag of money (you can see it in her hand) ready to hand it all over to pay for these gifts for her sisters. It was one of those times when, as a parent, you realize that you are learning precious lessons from your child.

Christmas

Christmas managed to happen this year amidst the moving chaos.
Check out Reese above eating a candy cane while opening a gift...
she is practicing to be a multitasking mother already!

We made cookies for Santa, as we always do on Christmas Eve.

Daddy worked throughout the night on Christmas Eve
and kept a happy face on throughout gift opening...he's had a lot of sleepless nights of practice.

A few favorite gifts!

Quite honestly one of my best gifts that day was to sit down and have Aspen sleep on me just like she did when she was a baby. She was out cold for a good two hours and I soaked up every moment of the experience wishing it would never end.

We had the Stewart family over for dinner that night but failed to take any pictures.

By the next evening our house looked like this.
