"He will feed His flock like a shepherd;
He will gather the lambs with His arm,
And carry them in His bosom,
And gently lead those who are with young." Isaiah 40:11

A June Wedding
I've been working as the event planner and florist for Meredith Botts Jordan's wedding since November. Her mother and mine have been friends since high school, and Meredith and I were sorority sisters in Delta Beta Sigma, a national high school sorority. The wedding ceremony was held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Mobile on June 16th, and the reception was held at the Ezell House.
Naman's Catering provided a delightful spread of heavy hors d'ouvres and included a magnificent cheese table and carving station, as well as a special lemonade and tea station in addition to three beer and wine bars. Cakes by Judi created a three-tiered beauty consisting of a pound cake layered with strawberry filling and covered in cream cheese icing and decorated with a scroll work pattern and the couple's initials. I added a mix of delicate peonies, Star of Bethlehem, ranunculus, Majolica roses, and Queen's Anne Lace to the cake layers to complete the confection masterpiece.
I crafted an English Garden theme for the flowers using all white posies for the bouquets, centerpieces, boutonnieres, and door baskets. We added a greenery garland around the door, and filled every empty space with a plethora of white flowers. Gerbera daisies, Belles of Ireland, Asiatic lilies, white hydrangeas, white roses, Queen Anne's lace, Majolica roses, peonies, ranunculus, white mums, alsotromeria, lily grass, pussy willow branches, and hundreds of white rose petals completed the design.
In honor of the couple's new last name, a "Jordan" almond prayer and a thank you from the bride and groom were framed and set on the table next to glass containers filled with a white and ivory assortment of the candy coated almonds. Guests were invited to use silver scoops to fill a bag with the delectable candies.
As the couple left for their honeymoon, they were showered with lavender. Thanks to the Botts' and Jordan families for allowing me to be a part of your special event!

Christmas 2006 - Suzanne Jones' House
In December, I was busy decorating for the holidays--my house and others. Suzanne Jones was gracious enough to seek out my help for a number of parties she was hosting in her new home. To provide an elegant but unfussy design in the dining room and foyer, I used a palette of shimmery gold and soothing cream in both the flowers and linens to complement the dark woodwork against the neutral walls. In the kitchen, I kept with a more cheery and family-friendly design by hanging glass ornaments and ribbon from the chandelier and finishing off each window with a green wreath and sprinkling other festive accents throughout the room. To see photos, check out my photo website: http://simplyinviting.shutterfly.com/action/. I hope you enjoy!
