Once in awhile, a leader with great calibre that has the ability to change the mindset of the people will appear and lead the country. History had shown us this to be true. Look at leaders of countries like our Tun Dr Mahathir. Honestly, he is the best Prime Minister that ever governed our country in my opinion. But no matter how great a leader can be, they will never overcome something called racism. Even though the recent victory of Senator Barack Obama of the United States of America becoming the 44th President of that great nation... there will always be racism. Therefore, when someone gives a statement such as this ... I tend to disagree. Yes some of us might say that our country gained out independence thru negotiation and cooperation from all the races but some of us will always remember the May'69 incident.
Racism will never be eliminated in our country unless the leaders take the first step in showing that it is possible to overcome the colour barrier. For example, we never had a Prime Minister from other races... so as the USA until recently of course. Some might agree with the article above which mention that anyone can be PM but i think most of us have forgotten the social contract that the the founders of our country has laid.... the social contract had made it impossible for anyone of other race to be PM. You might say look at the USA.... how can Barack Obama win the presidential election. Well its simple, their democracy is much more liberate than ours. They vote for people they believe who can bring change. Not people who will gain from the win. This shows that our people have an attitude problem that they have to oevecome if we ever want to progress forward and not backwards. You should go to youtube and watch Barack Obama's speeches. He is always thinking about the people from the low-middle income people which makes for a vast majority in any country in the whole world. He talks of single mothers that have to work two jobs just to keep their children in school and to put food on their tables. Finally we have another great leader that will bring change not only to the USA but to the world as well...
