This is really embarrassing! Although I am writing this blog to keep as a journal, I am not well at keeping up on it. I would really like to have a place that my kids can go to someday, and remember all the things that once went on in their lives. So we will start with a yearly round-up of memories from 2015.
January 2016 - can't remember what we did, probably skiied a lot at Nordic Valley! Simone in 2nd year of school at WGU, and serving in the Primary Presidency in ward.
February - celebrated Valentines Day as a family by going to see the Wedding Singer put on at Northridge High School! Great play!!!
March- my friends from the neighborhood had a surprise b-day luncheon for me at Zupas!! Caprice and Remy started tumbling at Pitcher's sports.
April- Adrienne's baby Landen was born April 19th! Cutest baby ever!! We also celebrated Easter with the Geyers, and the whole Whitney family at a rental cabin in Cedar City Utah! Super fun!! Saige got driver's permit- ahh!
May- end of school- went to my friend Stephanie's house in Arizona- swimming, park, Science Museum! Benson started new job at Legacy Fields Homes and loved the change!!
June- Saige took driver's ed. the whole month. Remy went to a summer camp at Clearfield rec. center, Caprice went to Retreat for Girls at USU with her friend Brooklyn Wood. Caprice also went to Brighton camp with the Beehives from the ward.
July- 4th of July in Logan with Brett's family, who recently moved to Utah- took all the kids and cousins to Bear Lake and played in the lake and sand!! Probably one of the best things that happened all year!! Went to Victor, Idaho and stayed in a beautiful rental cabin for the Whitney family reunion! Saw Yellowstone, played tons of games, bike riding, played with cousins, visited museums at Jackson Hole, and went to an awesome entertainment/dinner show!
August- Angel Wagner's family visited- went swimming, played games (of course), and put pennies on the train tracks to get smashed! Hiked to Timpanogas Cave in American Fork canyon. School started. Saige started 10th grade at Northridge H.S. in Layton! Benson called as Elder's Quorum President in the ward. Caprice was in Weber city parade with her friends in student council at High Mark. Went on a ghetto camping trip up at Monte Cristo in Huntsville- was so hot that we decided to use our air mattress to go down the river.

Caprice started cheer class at Pitcher's sports. Benson started up a competition soccer team in Mountain Green and coached Beckhem. Remy did Mountain Green recreation soccer.
October- Saige and I ran in Northridge's 5k Freight run- rainy and cold but fun! Halloween: Saige-Captain America, Caprice- homemade gumball machine costume, made by her and Grandma Stewart, Beckhem- Han Solo (costume also made by wonderful Grandma Stewart), Remy- the new Cinderella. Beck and Remy went Zombie fishing (sponsored by High Mark) at a lake in Farmington and caught lots of fish!
November- November was a month to remember for sure! Started with Beckhem's 11th birthday- celebrated at "Get Air" trampoline arena with all his neighborhood friends! Celebrated Remy's 8th b-day with a trip to her favorite store "Build a Bear Workshop" with cousin Cianna, followed by a sleep-over. Then Remy got baptized by her dad, and we had a lot of friends and family come support her. Saige also had an awesome 16th Glow in the Dark party at the church gym- Benson DJ'd, dancing, games, tons of great friends! Saige got driver's license and earned her Young Women medallion!! Beckhem earned Arrow of Light. Celebrated Thanksgiving at Brett and Melanie's house- went Black Friday shopping!
December-Skiiing at Nordic Valley! Saige started volleyball at Utah Bouncers- trained by a coach that was in the Olympics! Simone started delivery job at the Goodwood restaurant. I feel like I need to do a recap of the entire year of 2016. I was in school working on my Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education, so I did not have much time to blog. However, I do not want to regret not taking the chance to journal our family's lives.
Benson: Still working at Tailor Built Homes in Salt Lake. Commutes every day, but received a gift (a new car) from his boss, so now gets better gas mileage, which is a bonus!! He also was busy being Elders Quorum President in our ward, and coached Beckhem's competitive soccer league (that he and a friend started in Mountain Green). Benson's love for board games continues, and his collection of games increases every year...
Simone: Worked three different jobs in 2016, because one was not enough ha! Worked for Goodwood restaurant doing deliveries and catering jobs, worked at the kid's school (Highmark Charter) in the school store, the Hawk's Nest, as well as taking sub jobs. Also worked for the Ogden Rec. Center in the daycare on day a week to get free monthly membership fees (which proved to be useless because no one in the family ever used it... ). Simone was very busy with her duties in her calling as 1st counselor in the Primary, as well as finishing her Bachelor degree at Western Governors University. The hardest part of her schooling was getting in the 80 observation hours as well as completing her 3 months of student teaching. Simone loved student teaching in Mrs. Hill's 1st grade classroom from August 2016-November 2016. She graduated with her Elementary Education Degree in November 2016! Best day ever!! She decided to then pursue her dream of opening a preschool in the basement of her home in April 2017.
Saige: Where do I even start? That girl likes to be involved in everything! Saige is super social and loves making friends everywhere she goes. Benson says she is always "running for Mayor" because she talks to every person she meets and asks about their lives, even random people she's never met. She started Track and Field at Northridge H.S. in the spring. She found that she loved doing Pole Vault and Discuss throw. She had done Cross Country in the previous fall, and after passing out at one of her meets in Logan, and her body constantly aching from the long runs, she decided NEVER to run Cross Country again! She was good at it though and completed many races, she is a good runner but feels that running is too hard on her body. In the Fall of 2016, Saige tried out for the Northridge volleyball team, but didn't make it on, so the cute volleyball coach who adored her asked if she would manage the volleyball team instead. She found that managing the team was a perfect fit for her personality because it combined being social and rallying up support for the team with participating in volleyball practices. The coach said she was the best manager the girl's volleyball team had ever had, and awarded her a certificate that honored her with "lettering in team management." After a long season of late nights, Saige decided to train with the Utah Bounce competitive volleyball league. She endured many long, late-night practices and finally became an official member of the Utah Bounce girl's volleyball team in Novemeber. Saige was also involved on the HOSA commitee as a chairman at Northridge H.S. She attends meetings, and events where the HOSA club is involved. She even participated in a HOSA convention and won 5th place out of 30 participants in a speech contest. Meanwhile, Saige continued to serve on the youth conference, and stake dance committees at church. She also attends Missionary Prep classes to start getting prepared for her mission in the future. Saige also enjoyed dating and going to various school dances. And let's not forget the awesome experience of getting her wisdom teeth out during the summer by her amazing Uncle Jake!! We stayed with Jake and Kellie for a week and then when Saige was recuperated, went to Lake Tahoe with their family and stayed in a cabin for 4 days.
Caprice: Caprice loves life! She is always happy and outgoing! At the beginning of 2016, she was serving as Student Body President of the 8th grade class at Highmark Charter School. She strived to get good grades and continually kept her 4.0 grade point average! She was involved in tumbling where she learned her back-handspring, just in time for cheer tryouts in March. She made the cheer team and attended a summer week long cheer camp in the hot summer sun, where her team took 1st place in every division. They were the youngest and smallest team in the competition. Caprice enjoyed cheering at school volleyball and basketball games as well. Caprice took sewing lessons from a friend in South Weber and finally finished her full size chevron quilt, which she now sleeps with on her bed every night- it was a big accomplishment! During the summer she put on her 3rd annual princess camp where local girls in the neighborhood come and participate in planned games, crafts and dances. The money she saved up, was to be used for her upcoming 9th grade business trip to New York. Caprice spent many hours babysitting for neighbors and friends in the area, and worked on the Wayman's Formosa Shaved Ice truck at various events in the community. She also went to Retreat for Girls in Logan for the second time, and enjoyed the Mountain Green girl's camp. Sadly, Caprice experienced back pain during the whole year and as it progressively got worse, we got an MRI and found that every vertebrae on her back was protruding up into the upper vertebrae. After meeting with a doctor at Primary Childrens hospital, they determined her condition to be a birth defect otherwise known as
Scheuermann's disease. Caprice's spine is so straight there is no shock absorbers in the spine to alleviate the pressure that experiences with every foot step, so she experiences back pain a lot.
Beckhem: Beckhem has really grown over the last year! He is in 6th grade now, and has tried many new activities this year, with just a little coercing. He started out the year skiing a lot with his dad at Nordic Valley, and became more confident. Beck played soccer for Mountain Green Competitive soccer league, where his dad was the coach. Beckhem also loves scouts! After attending a week long scout camp with his dad in the beautiful setting of camp Bartlett in rural Idaho, he fell in love with archery while working hard to complete his archery badge. HIs dad got him a bow and he started practicing archery in our backyard. He also got his braces off (and the dreaded expander) and had a whole new beautiful smile. In the fall, Benson convinced him to try out for wrestling, and once he began wrestling training, he realized he really liked it and was surprisingly good. The coaches voted him as "Most Improved" on the team! Beck ran for student body officer along with 25 other 6th grade students at Highmark Charter, and was nominated by his peers as Vice President of the 7th grade. He said the main reason why he ran was to get the cool letterman sweater!
Remy: Wow that girl says the funniest things and is always making everyone laugh around her. She is loved by her teachers and friends! Her witty comments and creative personality bring a smile to all our faces. Remy was a big third grader this year! She had some speech therapy during her 2nd and 3rd grade year to correct her "R's" and her slight lisp. She improved by the end of 3rd grade tremendously. She could say "earth, rabbit, and so many more "r" words with ease. She took piano for the year and started getting progressively better, but hated practicing so much that we decided the fits weren't worth developing the skill of piano playing. She liked playing songs she could sing too, but really loathed the practicing- darnit! At one of her piano recitals, she asked if she could sing to her piece- it was adorable! Remy took tumbling the entire year and improved a lot! She also played soccer, during the school year as well. At the end of the school year, she complained of back pain, so after getting an MRI (which she hated), and an x-ray, we took her to Primary Children's hospital where they diagnosed her with "the beginning stages of a stress fracture in one of her lower vertebrae." She was told to take 3 months off of tumbling, so it would properly heal. She constantly twists and stretches her back to relieve the pain. In the summer, she signed up for a jump roping class as a way to stay active.

Bass Lake w/ Geyer Family! July 2014
Saige and Caprice in VA. w/ Gregory cousins
The girls flew to Virginia (by themselves) to stay in Virginia with Aunt Chelsey and her family! Two weeks with cousins and non-stop fun! IN this picture, they are at the famous "D.C. Cupcakes" (as seen on t.v.) , in Washington D.C.! This is just one of the many fun things their fun aunt Chelsey and Uncle Aaron took them to do!! Their trip was amazing!! They couldn't stop talking about it!!
Beck also had an awesome experience with cousins this summer! He went back to CA. to Uncle Brett's house for 2 weeks, they were so nice to host him! It was two weeks with all boys! I was afraid he would never want to come home!
Remy couldn't figure out where her siblings kept on going... she loves having all the "kids" around her. She would prefer them being around versus being alone with her boring mom and dad :( !
Portugal, 2014
The summer started out with a bang! Bens and I returned to where he served his mission a some 20 years ago. We met my Dad and his wife there and stayed with them in a small apartment. WE stayed 10 days, and toured everything! Museums, castles, cities, etc... The pastries & breads were amazing!
Whitney Kids, First Day of School 2014
WE decided to put the kids in a local charter school this year. Saige will only have one year there, but we felt like it was a good change for her. This is my first year with all the kids in school all day, so I am focusing on going back to school to get my Elementary Education degree! In a couple years when I finish, maybe I can be Remy's teacher :)
