Viola!
Inside our cozy digs.
Ben and Mackenna got right to work making our first dinner, Mackenna's favorite, cheeseburgers.
It was a success. (And we were starving!)
Testing out their camp chairs by the fire.
They loved moving the pieces of wood into the fire pit. We were impressed by how strong Dakota was...
How cute are they?
Roasting marshmallows.
After an hour or so of playing in the tent with their flashlights, the girls passed out in their sleeping bags. They both slept through the night until 6:30 AM.
Such a big girl on her pillow and sleeping bag!
On Saturday morning, we got up and drove down the road for a 3 mile hike to see Piazza Rock, a large rock that sits along the Appalachian Trail. It is said to look as though its floating in the air.
Here we are, arriving at the parking lot where Route 4 meets the Appalachian Trail.
Mackenna had to wear her back pack, with her Rapunzel Minnie Mouse in it for the ride.
Mackenna walked about half of the way, before she rode on Ben's shoulders. She did really well, just needing help over the large rocks.
A few times they both went up the hill like this!
A happy camper.
We made it! The hike was about 3 hours round trip, and all worth it to see Piazza Rock. Not sure if you can see us right under the rock in this photo that Ben took.
After our hike, we took the boat out on Rangeley Lake. Saturday was a beautiful 80 degree day.
Dakota took the wheel.
The best part of the ride was when the girls finally fell asleep!
After the boat ride we walked down for a dip in the lake.
For dinner, Mackenna made her own pretend fire, for her hot dog. And, cooking her hot dog over the real fire.
We had a great trip, but were very VERY happy to come home to hot showers and a cozy bed!
