Choosing auspicious date for wedding

My previous entry was talking about us, getting our first home together.

Moving to early 2016, I keep thinking of when we should get married and when is the boyf going to propose.

There were friends proposals keep popping up on facebook. And friends started talking about wedding planning which also got me excited.

I didn't want to look like someone who was really desperate to get married(but secretly i am, haha) so we started counting backwards from the rough time we would get our first home. And next year(2017) was the best time before we get our house. That also means we needed to start planning for the wedding coz it would be less than a year to go.

We consulted our parents if they would like us to have our wedding date calculated by a master or just a date that we like would do, and my dad being traditional, wanted the date to be a good date for us.

The most popular masters would be Master David Tong and Master Long Tian Xiang.

We knew Master David Tong would be out as we heard alot of restrictions for couples who consulted him. Master Long wasn't as restrictive (he had his reasons that i heard from friends).

So we contacted Master Long thru sms, and gave him the necessary information he needed to calculate dates for us. His messages were usually in Chinese and quite comprehensive on the next steps that would be done.

As many couples are getting married, he also forewarn us that the appointment to meet him might be a month later after he had prepared the booklet for us.

He came back to us that he had our booklet ready and we booked appt to meet him about 3- 4 weeks later!

26 March 2016
the day for the appointment, we didn't know what to expect, but we knew Master Long had a big house.

Boyf drove and we went into a neighbourhood of landed houses. We thinking woo not bad until we got to the correct address, we were thinking WOW, this is huge! (as below)

(stolen from someone's dayre :x)

you can't see the whole house here but he had a few branded cars parking there and a pool at his house!

very fascinated by his house, we met his grand daughter playing the piano at their living room, and she was shoo-ed to the room haha. we met this old man, he was pretty nice explaining many things, like how to calculate ba zi and stuffs about our personalities etc.

he also went on to explain how to use the 3 years worth of dates, what was necessary for guo da li and the actual day stuffs to take note.

and with all these information we were out and started looking at dates we could use for our wedding.

Initially we wanted to choose it on our anniversary but it wasn't a choice to start with. but we saw a date in the booklet which is a day after our anniversary! it would be really meaningful and easy for us to remember and celebrate altogether!

So there we go! 18th March 2017. :)

How did it all started? // Applying for SOBF

2015

This was the year where both of us started working, income getting stabilised for both. So we were thinking if we should plan for the next stage of our life.

I would say it came quite naturally that we should apply for BTO and plan for wedding. Even though I secretly wish he would propose first before we apply for BTO together. haha

but come to think of it, during the course of our discussion, the boyf did propose in some way *just no ring or planning* :)

May 2015

We were looking at the options we had and we both agreed to stay at the west side of Singapore and at Jurong area so there was HDB launching of new flats coming up, zooming into the BTO launches area in May 2015, there wasn't any for Jurong area.

We researched in details on the Sales of Balance flats, what they were offering, and found one that would be at Taman Jurong, which we will be near to 2 of my close girl friends! and we thought it would be a good midpoint between our parents too. I was excitingly sharing that in the future, we could just ask each other to hang out at each other's place when we get too bored at home! *really hope it would still happen, friendship bonds need to be strong!*

Of course we had to ask permission from our parents about this too, coz this would means that we would be getting married soon too.. so we set up dinners with our parents on separate occasions to ask for their blessings to apply for our first home together.

i remembered it was a working day, and when the launch started online, then we keep refreshing to check how many people were applying the estates that we were interested, so as to see how much chance we had.

finally, it was the evening, boyf and I was sitting in front of his computer excitedly, doing our application on the HDB website!

after all that, it was a waiting game..

first letter came in, a notification letter of acknowledgment that they received our registration of SOBF.

I couldnt remember when did the results came out, and we got a queue number! It was 13 out of 100ish, so we were pretty front of the queue!

After getting the queue number,  we zoom-ed into the project that we were interested and blocks and units available that were good! The project had quite alot of units left that we could select, but the really good ones or obviously taken, so we pray hard the first 12 people wouldn't select our project or the unit we want!

and fast forward on 28 Oct 2015,

coincidently, we wore our favourite NBA team's t-shirt and went to our first HDB appointment!

it was also the day that the new NBA season started!

so this is us after selecting our desired unit.

11 Feb 2016

we went for our second HDB appointment and there were countless of signing on agreements, confirming our grant and loan applications were all in order and we paid our first deposit for our home! *CPF money fly away*

CAN'T WAIT FOR OUR NEW HOME TO BE READY IN 2017!

Starting afresh

Hello and hello earthlings, it have been 4 years since I blogged.

I wanted to blog on the previous one but I thought, maybe I should move on to a new one since 4 years have passed. those are memories at our 4 years mark. too much emo that I don't really wanna show now. haha!

so I actually re-starting blogging again as we have started on our wedding preparations!

I really want to have a place to pen down and hopefully one day I would look back and reminisce these times, that are quite precious.

I forgot how to blog but hopefully the rusty skills will come back!

sooo BYE for now!
