Halloween's Coming

Halloween's coming!
Halloween's coming!
What shall we do?
What shall we do?
We'll have a party!
We'll have a party!
That's what we'll do.
That's what we'll do.

On Saturday we had a Halloween party with the cousins. We had a wonderful time and did some fun activities!

ASU's favorite fan greeted us with his presence!

We had Belle, the pretty princess too!

A clown, Dorothy, Dancin' Diva, and Sleeping Beauty showed up for the fun as well.

There was fun pumpkin making/carving!

We had mini hamburgers, hot dogs in a blanket, french fries, fruit, and a yummy spider cupcake for dessert.

The cutest ladybug you've ever seen came to give us some really good laughs!

Nannie & Papa, of course, could not miss the occasion!

It was a fun-filled evening with lots of food, sweets, and games. Oh, and pin-the-nose on the witch was the favorite game. We missed those who couldn't come.

We really hope everyone has a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Just call me, FORGETFUL

This morning I fixed some toast, and forgot about it. Yep, I think I put it in the toaster and immediately any thought or memory of doing that task left my brain. Just left it there in the toaster. Didn't burn it, but toast is NEVER good cold.

It's getting a little discouraging forgetting things ALL THE TIME now. Poor Bruce, asks me if I've done what he needed, and all I can say is ... I FORGOT. It seems like such a lame excuse, but it's the truth. Yes, I know it would help to write it all down, but then I'd spend more time writing things down than getting anything done. I really try hard to remember everything, but some days I just get so distracted. Does anyone else have this problem? What do you do to remember things?

Happy Anniversary!

Here we are six years ago today!!! I'm dedicating this post to my wonderful husband!
TOP TEN REASONS WHY I LOVE YOU...
10. It's fun to watch you play with the children.
They love the time you spend with them, and it makes my heart laugh to watch.
9. You are so willing to pitch in and help with whatever I need.
8. The dipples that form in your cheeks when you smile at me.
7. You let me talk and talk even though it might be late at night.
6. You are worthy and ready to give blessings when needed -- to anyone.
5. You are service oriented. You will drop whatever you are to doing to help someone in need.
4. You are such a great strength to me. When I am stressed, your presence calms me.
3. You are wise. You have great insight when we discuss the gospel together.
2. You listen when the spirit speaks to you.
1. You love me -- quirks and all.
So, here's to you, my love -- I'm so grateful that I get you FOREVER!!!

I'm it!

I got tagged by two different people last week, so I'm just going to combine it into one! Here it goes!!!

HOW DID WE MEET?: Bruce & I met in a singles ward. He was new to our ward and I was hosting the dinner club. Then later we played on the ward volleyball team together, but didn't go on our first date until about two or three years later.

WHERE DID YOU GO ON YOUR FIRST DATE?: We went to a Stanford vs. ASU football game.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TOGETHER?: This Thursday we will be celebrating our 6th anniversary! WAHOO!!!! And we're still SOOOOO in love! (I'm hearing the gags as I write.)

WHO SAID 'I LOVE YOU' FIRST?: We can't remember, but we did say a lot of them and still do!

WHO SINGS BETTER?: Me.

WHO DOES THE LAUNDRY?: Me. However, when needed Bruce gladly helps out.

WHO DOES THE DISHES?: Well, most of the time it's me, but Bruce does them when he's tired of seeing them in the sink. Right now it's hard to keep the kitchen clean while Rebecca is awake. She likes to climb on the chairs, then the table. It's really hard to do dishes and watch her at the same time. Plus, I'm not a big fan of unloading the dishwasher, so sometimes the dishes get a little piled up.

WHO SLEEPS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BED?: I do.

WHO PAYS THE BILLS?: Automatic bill-pay does for the most part. If a check needs to be written for something, usually Bruce takes care of that. I'm supposed to be the book keeper, though. Well, me and Quicken.

WHO MOWS THE LAWN?: Bruce -- since we've moved into this new house, Bruce has been working hard on the backyard. It's looking so nice! I love it that the lawn is staying green!

WHO COOKS DINNER?: I cook dinner Sun.-Fri. and on Saturdays Bruce grills something absolutely scruptious. He is the better cook in this house. It's just convenient for me to cook the rest of the week. I can do it, but Bruce always makes everything taste really good. He's got the knack.

WHO DRIVES WHEN YOU ARE TOGETHER?: Bruce does. I like it better that way. I feel like I can sit back and enjoy the ride when he drives.

WHO IS MORE STUBBORN?: I don't know. I wouldn't really define either of us as stubborn.

WHO KISSED WHO FIRST?: We don't remember, but it was a fun first kiss I can say that much.

WHO IS MORE SENSITIVE?: Me. I'm the more high-strung out of the two of us. Bruce is more laidback and relaxed. I worry too much about little things sometimes.

WHO PROPOSED?: Bruce proposed at the temple on the east side. I screamed, "YES!!!" before he could even finish the question. My favorite part was when he said, "The ring sparkles like your eyes." Yep, sounds like it's straight from a romance novel, but he said it to me and my heart just went "pitter-pat -- I'm in love."

WHO HAS MORE SIBLINGS?: I do. I come from a family of seven (4 boys, 3 girls) and Bruce a family of four (3 boys, 1 girl)

WHO WEARS THE PANTS?: It depends on the situation. I think I talk about what needs to happen and what needs to be done more often. But, Bruce makes suggestions as well, and always has better solutions too. Bruce and I tend to work together pretty much every day. I think it's necessary these days to really help each other out. We share many of the responsibilities of the children and the house. We hope we're teaching our children to work as well.

3 obsessions: I really wouldn't call them obsessions because I think that's an awfully strong word.
1) my family
2) paper crafting
3) reading (when it's a good book, I become invisible)

3 words or phrases that I use the most:
I don't think I have any. Can anyone else answer this question for me?

3 things I want to do before I die:
1) Travel w/Bruce, especially back to Italy
2) go sky diving
3) take some art classes

3 things I've learned:
1) Our Heavenly Father is in charge and truly seeking to get us all back
2) I'm stronger than I think (not physical strength, but the strength within)
3) that prayers are ALWAYS answered

3 places I'd love to go:
1) Vancouver, Canada
2)New York
3) on a church tour that includes everything but Nauvoo (we already did that trip)

3 things I want or need:
1) new wardrobe
2) & 3) my house completely unpacked and decorated

Well, there you have it!

Hunter update and a prayer

Hunter is doing great! It amazes me what antibiotics can do. He is back to his happy little self. His eyes and nose have cleared from the conjestion and he looks so healthy. He's talking more, smiling more, and sleeping much better! A happy mom is a well-rested mom!

I'm so grateful to all the doctors and nurses, but most especially to my Heavenly Father for watching out for our "little man." Thank you for all the comments and concerns on my last blog!

On a much funnier note...
Bruce and I always look forward to the end of the each night when our kids say their prayers. Sarah always includes the whole world, the neighbors and all of us to sleep well. Last night was the funniest and most sincere prayer. Our favorite part of her prayer was:

"Please bless the bad guys that might try to get us that they will die or be nice."

So if you know any bad guys, please warn them in advance -- shape up or they might be shipped out.

A trip to the hospital

Over the past few weeks Hunter has had a cold, conjestion, all that good stuff. On Tuesday he had a fever. I thought the conjestion may have turned into an ear infection so I took him to the doctor.

The doctor couldn't find anything unusual at first and decided to check the oxygen in his blood. He thought it was a little low and decided to send me to the hospital to get a chest x-ray and some blood work done.

I took the girls to my mom's and then meet Bruce to go together. Now on to the adventure of our lives -- for this week.

We get to the hospital and Hunter starts to cry a little. I started to nurse him when we were called back. He then became very agitated (this is the nice way of saying that he cried and cried and cried for over an hour). They wouldn't let me nurse him to calm him down. See, Hunter doesn't take a pacifier or a bottle. He wants Mom and Mom only. By the time they finally let me try to calm him down he was so agitated that he couldn't relax enough to nurse. His pulse got up to about 225 - 250, which is extremely high for an infant.

The doctor came in to access him right away. Besides the other tests, he decided to take a urine sample and an EKG as well. This is where we were very fortunate because Hunter had a UTI (urinary tract infection). Due to the infection they decided to admit him to the hospital and watch him for 24 hours.

Here's the little trooper in his "cage".
When they put in an IV they really tape it up so it doesn't go anywhere.

It was a pretty rough night in the hospital. He was so high strung and over tired that he couldn't get into a deep enough sleep. He finally fell into a deep sleep at 4am! Yep, you got that right, he was up off and on until 4am. We slept in the nice comfortable recliner that they got in the hospital. They offered me a cot, but would take away the chair. I decided to keep the chair thinking that it would be easier to nurse him, and couldn't be that bad to sleep in. Turned out to be easier to nurse, but horrible to sleep in.
The doctor is still concerned about his heart because of the rapid heart beat in the hospital, so I have to take his pulse every once in a while. Otherwise the antibiotics are working well. We're just going to be resting this weekend to make sure everything stays okay.
On a much, much happier note -- HUNTER ALMOST ROLLED OVER!

He got quite mad about it as well!

Just in case you were wondering

Some of you might be wondering how I am doing with four children four & under. Well, let's just say -- we're all still alive.

I went to Walmart today to pick up some dishwashing detergent. Sarah cried the whole way there because we weren't going to the library right away (we are going after Rebecca's nap). And continued to whine throughout the store. Just as we were finishing she says she needs to go to the bathroom. We hurry to the check out line. The clerk looks at the children. Smiles.

"Oh, that's what my family will be like some day. We've both had dreams that we're having twins. Since that's the case we're waiting," she says excitedly.

I'm thinking, "TMI... please hurry!!!"

We get to the bathroom...Sarah runs in before I can get anyone out of the cart. Breanna says, "Mom, I have to go potty too." Remember we're potty training. I hurry and grab Rebecca and Hunter, who's in his car seat. I head straight for the biggest stall, door wide open, walk in and there's Sarah sitting on the toilet.

There's a brief explanation as to why we must shut the door first. Apparently, she couldn't get it to shut. Lecture on using only stalls that close will take place on a later date.

While Sarah is finishing I set Rebecca down and get Breanna prepared because we want NO ACCIDENTS.

Rebecca is wiping her hands on the bathroom floor -- ew!!! Grab Rebecca and tell her no hands on the floor.

Back to Breanna to get her on the toilet. There's no Dora potty on this seat -- it's a little scary.

Grab Rebecca away from the "party favors" box. Yes, girls, you know the one I'm talking about.

Back to Breanna to help her.

Oh, Rebecca -- get your hands away from the toilet water.

Come on Breanna lets get your pants pulled up.

Oh, Rebecca -- stay out of THAT box.

Breanna pants finally pulled up, Sarah holding Rebecca's hand. Please let's just get out of here!

Hunter, the angel that he is simply sits quietly in his car seat enjoying the ride.

Oh, BTW, did I mention that Rebecca sucks her fingers??? Didn't quite make it fast enough to the sink. What illness will be coming next?

Finally, all hands washed, everyone back in or near the cart. I'm completely out of breath, thoroughly irritated, nerves shot, and we can't get home fast enough. Sarah wants to discuss quiet time and lunch on the way home.

Mommy, just needs it really quiet right now, no questions.

Get home, get lunch, Rebecca down for a nap, and Sarah & Breanna having quiet time in their room.

Where's the chocolate??? Where's SOME CHOCOLATE?! Oh, there you are. While I'm unwrapping it says to me, "There, there. Don't you worry, I'll make everything all better." And it did. All is well.

Ahhhh, the love!

Today I was taking pictures of Hunter because now he's three months old! Isn't he cute???!!!!

My personal favorite shot!

Rebecca decided she needed to be a helper or just needed an attention. She truly loves Hunter.
Can you tell?
