So I changed the color of my blog to BLUE.
Perhaps I too have my blue days, but not in a sad way-just colorful. Have a bluetiful day.

MY S and T FRIDAY Number 4 and ON MY 100TH. POST!

I am going back to October 23, 2008 and re-posting this post. I posted this on this day but in 2008.These are some of the things I was posting on at that time. A lot of show and tells were going on during these days. Sometimes it's  neat just to re-read our posts and for the heck of it, just let em roll. Have a great Saturday and tomorrow Sunday. It says 100th post, well now it's up to 832 posts. Time does fly.

Earrings from the 50's. My mom wore these. Clip on type.

Watch belonged to my Grandmother Martha. It was a gift to her in the early 60's.

Etched rose. It had a silver chain once upon a time. It needs a good cleaning.

Clasp earrings from the 50's
They are beads with little diamonds or fake...whatever...they looked nice when worn, I'm sure.

Imitation diamonds. Just glass necklace. Again from the 50's. During the 50's it was all about dance time and I am sure these earings and "diamond" necklace were worn gaily. Times sure were different then. Thought I would type this up tonight and post it for Friday. The pictures are not very good at all, but just to share a little bit of the 50's with whoever stops by.I plan on spending the day studying so I won't have time to post tomorrow. And come to think of it, this is actually my 100th. post. It would have been more but I deleted my previous blog. Happy Friday to all. Viva La Vida.

Show and Tell Friday posted on Saturday

Just click on the link above and there you go.

Yes, I forgot about Show and Tell Friday but sometimes I do it on off days as well. So I've been in my studio on and off since class let out and this is my latest. I found this unfinished painting at the back of some of my other canvases and took a picture of it. I had started on this canvas a while back and just let it sit for I don't know how long, so it needs a lot of TLC and more depth. I have a problem with depth, though. Since I have never had an art class, I could use some lessons on depth. What is good about the Internet is that all these hints and ideas can be gotten from here. Oh, the teapot you see next to the painting is what I make and sell during spring and summer months. It has pegs to hang your kitchen towels. I've bought the wood to start making the teapots as well as Christmas ornaments for next year. Sorry about the reflections on the painting. I'm going to work on it today and try to fill in the background. I haven't titled it yet.

I hope you all are enjoying your Christmas holidays. I'm going to stay at home today and enjoy my studio. I have to put the heater on in there because it's an icebox without heat. Maybe I'll get a little two burner electric one that they sell in hardware stores. I thought I saw one on sale not too long ago and if I'm not mistaken, it was at Walmart. I have a small frig, coffee pot, kitchen sink, cupboards, and all that stuff. If I ever get angry at esposo I can go and lock myself in there and I'll have food, cafecito's, water....but no bathroom. Oh well, guess I can't get angry. I think we had our disagreement for the year already. We rarely have disagreements. We're the perfect couple......(hmm):))

I've still got oranges so I am going to zest some peel and make some cookies with orange and lemon zest later this afternoon. I wish I had a little stove in the studio. Be back later alligator.

MY S and T-8 FRIDAY

Okay, so maybe I can start typing here. These cups, a total of 25 porcelain mug collection and distributed by Franklin in 1984 were a joy for me to order. This was the first real collection I had. As I was looking at them to take pictures, I noticed they needed cleaning and the shelf needs dusting. There's cups that say Bon Ami to Arm & Hammer, all products from the past, although some still linger. I remember ordering them, wondering where I was going to display them. I've been careful to not break any. There have been times when just for the fun of it, we have coffee in them, but not too often. I hope you like them and enjoy them. Tomorrow is Friday and I like to post my Show and Tell on Thursday evening. I wasn't sleepy yet. Starting tomorrow I have off till the 2nd of December. I am definitely going to take advantage of that time to do some painting, of which I miss a lot. I need to put my soul to work. It's a good feeling. Have a great rest of the evening and I hope you like the music I added to my blog. Something soothing, except for Chavela Vargas who really pours it on.

My S and T 07

I picked these album up at a thrift store many moons ago and you can see, they do go way back. I still have my stereo and once in a blue moon I may listen to some of them. This is just a few of the lucky finds. Get a load of 3 sailors and a girl, I think that movie was from the 50's.

Look at Elvis the King. Oh la la.

In any event this is my show and tell for Friday. I was running late today because of having to go in to the doctor's for a blood test. I seem to be dehydrated, so I am drinking lots of fluids. My house is a mess and they drained the blood out of me, but as Arnold says, "I'll be back." Enjoy my albums and sorry its not laid out right. Have a great rest of the day. Now I need to answer comments before I start my housework.

MY S and T 6 FRIDAY

My Show and Tell #6 will be short. I found this soup tureen and platter at an estate sale a few years back. I don't know anything about it. On the bottom it says Modelo-Alfal Capoqmoml and then a 5026/L. That all I know about it. I had planned on looking up Modelo and Capoqmoml, but just haven't gotten around to it. Maybe today, after a couple of years. Have a great Friday and weekend. Be back later.

S and T Friday 5

I'm not sure what this is called, a server of sorts. I use it for candy or nuts. It's from the early 50's or so, and was passed on to me. I enjoy it.

These little birds of a feather who flock together are also from the 50's. My mom really took care of these little tykes. I love them and they are here with me.

This is my show and tell for today and it's minima,l but important to me, and now I've shared it with you. This of course will not be a long post, because I am off to Walmart, Michaels, when it opens (they open late) and other places. I'm staying home tomorrow to do last minute things on my ofrenda and of course homework. I hope you have a great weekend and trust me, life is good. Viva La Vida

My Friday S and T # 3

This dish belonged to my Grandmother Martha, my mother's mom.

This bowl belonged to my Grandmother Maria, my dad's mom.
My father Joe's dinner plate. He was eating lunch one day while I was over and I said, "Dad, is that the dish you always eat from." He answered, "Yes mija." I said, "Can I have it?" He said "Yes mija, wait till I'm done."

This bowl is a beautiful bowl that I found at a garage sale. I'm sure it had it's days.

This serving dish is about 50 years old and was given to my Grandmother Martha on her 50th. wedding anniversary. It's a beauty. I do use it.

This serving bowl is also an oldie and has many crack that I fixed because I did not want to throw away. It is also about 45-50 years.

As we go through life we accumulate things and these are "things." The beauty of these things is that they come with vivid memories of a bowl of potatoes or beans, a plate of good old macaroni, homemade soup, meatloaf and the simple things Grandparents cooked. We won't discard these things because they mean so much. I hope you enjoyed my S & T and by the way, as soon as my dad was done eating, I whisked the plate to the sink and washed it and tossed in my big purse. My daddy laughed and said, "Why do you want that dish, mija? I said, "Because dad, it's yours and it's a dish you have used for years, so it means something."

My Friday's Show and Tell # 2 Moments To Remember.

In the olden days when times were hard, (they are hard right now but they have been worse) people often gave gifts that had meaning behind them. These pictures are gifts my mother Juanita gave to her mother, my Grandmother Martha. The first is a picture of carnations in a frame with a note to her mother. The second is a glazed pottery fruit holder that still to this day is in good condition. The third is a hand with a rose, simple ceramic glazed and beautiful. These gifts were given on different days and held different meanings, and now I have them and they mean a lot to me. My mother picked these items to give to her mother with love. How wonderful that is. We have gotten so spoiled in this country that to think of giving simple things such as the above, just doesn't get it these days. I have as of these past few years resorted to simple gifts, and will continue to do so. What matters most is the "thought." So on this Friday the 10th of October in the year 2008, with all the problems this country is having right now, I hope we all take time to reflect on the good old days of yore and how much more things meant then. Have a great weekend.
