My Blue Blog....for now

So I changed the color of my blog to BLUE.
Perhaps I too have my blue days, but not in a sad way-just colorful. Have a bluetiful day.

End of year /beginning of new year

Where did all the time go?
When did it happen?
Why did time fly on by?
Why did this year go by so fast?
When did I blink my eyes and yesterday was gone?
What's left?
 What to do ?
 Where to go?
 Why so fast?
What now?

This really threw me for a loop as I sat at my table drawing this goofy character wondering just why time is flying by. It seems to be leaving us behind. That's what brought about the ten "W's" above. There is no explanation. People I've talked to feel the same, wondering how time could just have slipped us by. Could we be in another dimension? I doubt that, but anything to answer the question,

Why has time come and gone so fast this year?

Which is what prompted me to include all these number in the piece. Different years, present year, future years, address numbers, birth dates, special names, little comments here and there. I'm kind of running in slow motion right now and hopefully that's a sign for next year.
 A little slower please.

So I have titled this painting:

Time Is Of The Essence
Gloria V. for end of 2012, beginning of 2013(c)

Despite time going by so fast, we are very thankful for our life and the happiness we have had. Giving thanks every day for everything. Hope 2013 brings you health, happiness, friendships, and lots of good food. HAPPY NEW YEAR 2013!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL-2012 and the end of it all, but it wasn't.

So I have a little time in between tasks,  and thought I would say hello to everyone and share with you some of the easiest, and one of my most difficult accomplishments of the year. There were many easy/difficult  days and this list is but a drop in the bucket. Hope everyone has had a wonderful year. Ah, we did survive the Mayan's predictions and glad we are still here. What if the Mayan's had been correct? I wouldn't be here typing this to you. In any event, Viva The Mayan's.

The easier things for this year were:

Staying true to myself and just trying to go with the flow of life
Trying to be a good wife/mother/friend/blogger friend
Cooking and having fun
Gardening
Giving to others
Praying and being thankful
Finding new projects
Reading  a lot of books (I think this year I've read more than ever.)
Enjoying my home
Loafing around
Painting

The harder things for the year were:

Cleaning house
Writing in a journal, don't have the patience
Not spending money, a little, but not much
Exercising
Cleaning house
Cleaning house
Moderation, especially with food
Staying away from licorice as it gives me leg cramps
Cleaning house:)

Of course there was a lot more and it would have taken all day to post everything and I wouldn't dare do that to you. You are busy too.:)

One goal that I did accomplish that was very difficult but oh so inspiring and gratifying, was to complete a mission I had set out to do. To go to that mission, click on the link at the end.

Today I'm doing last minute things. It will be raining but we will be headed out to Perko's for breakfast. Pancakes, bacon, and scrambles.

I pause for prayer every day to be thankful, and also to pray for the people's that have sufferered from all tragedies that have happened this year.

Have a wonderful Christmas and a  Happy New Year.

That mission is:

HERE

See you soon. Right now hubber's and I are headed to breakfast.

This lady started out alone and as you can see, her children were added later. She looks like she is a rough and tough lady, so RumbleMom seemed like a good name for her, as she does look ready to rumble.
Thanks Eva and Kristin for this year of fun with the arts.  It was a great year for learning.
Please stop by their blog to visit other particpants. Merry Christmas to everyone and a Happy New Year.

A coincidence, or what?

The Greatest Miracle

Husband and I had business as well as a little shopping. We were at Walmart, he looking for the movie The Expendables 2 or something like that, and me just looking around. I walked away and went elsewhere to look.....

......As you know these past 12 days have been all about Our Mary Mother and it has been a blessing and very special time thanks to Rebecca hosting. Today was the last day but as I said, I'm not ready to let go and probably never will. I learned a lot, felt a lot and shed tears as well. I also feel a sense of becoming a stronger person.

The point I want to get to is this: While looking around and not finding anything worth my money, I headed back to find my husband at the movie area. I couldn't find him and started to walk away, but my head turned and eyes went straight to this movie, The Greatest Miracle. I wasn't going to buy it but my feet kept walking towards it and then it was in my hand. I wasn't sure what it was about but I love the word miracles and actually believe in them, so it came home with me.

It's an animated movie and lo and behold if it isn't about Our Mary, Our Lord, Our Guardian Angels.
Lots of prayer for those that were needing prayer,  and a beautiful church setting, and an animated moving Virgin Mary, and animated  Christ our Lord. Oh my goodness I was just taken aback. It was meant to be, this meeting of movie and me. I'm still at peace after watching this animated movie.

Well this had to be shared. I see that they also had it at Amazon so I added the link in case you want to read the few reviews there are.

Have a great weekend and honestly, I'm a better person and feel at peace.

12 MORNINGS WITH MARY-12

This is for Wednesday 12 Mornings With Mary post. Posting early.

Believers flocked to see the Virgin Mary statue ‘crying’  in Sacramento.

Here then is  my Mary #12 post. Mary with her warm tears flowing down her beautiful face. Tears that are for her Son, for Us, for the World. She blesses us with her tears.

For Helen at Haiku Hump Day:
Mary, do not cry
Let us shed the tears you've cried
We will free your pain

Sunset at my home and as the sun starts to set this evening....

Linking with Rebecca to share in Day 8 of 12 Mornings With Mary.

This is a beautiful picture I found on the net and it's from a cemetary. Not sure where it came from, except all it said was "Cemetary Statue." It's beautiful as she lifts her arms for all of us.

SWEET MARY WAITS FOR US ALL.

Stop by to visit other beautiful Marys.

HAVE A WONDERFUL MARY DAY.

Blogger Friend sent me a print

JUDIE, who has been a kind person since I met her mailed me this beautiful print.I oohed and aahed over it.  I selected the pink house to live in,  and a few other blog friends "supposedly" live in the other homes. Is this painting beautiful or what. I love it and did thank Judie personally by email but I'm thanking her again because it's one of my favorites. I am going to find the right frame for it and just enjoy looking at it. Look at the cobblestone street and the kitty in the street. She sent me a beautiful letter with tender words that really brought tears to my eyes. It's called:

"COBBLESTONE STREET" by Judie

My picture taking doesn't give the print justice.

Wouldn't you want to live on a street such as this. I chose the pink home at the end, because it was at the end and of course the trees. I think it's a little more private and yes I visualize myself in that small kitchen preparing a cup of coffee and baking muffins or cookies or even making tamales. I can also visualize a little grocery store where I can run out of my home barefoot and cross the street and enter the store.  Thank you so much Judie for giving me these dreams. I live there, it is now my pink little home. I think I'll call my little home Pinkilicious. :)) Tee hee. Ah yes, living the vida loca.

12 MORNINGS WITH MARY-7/PAINTPARTYFRIDAY

Day 7 of 12 Mornings with Mary being hosted by the gracious Rebecca. Stop by her blog to visit the beautiful Marys. I am sharing this with my usual Friday post of PPF. I've committed myself to PPF weekly, but these 12 days with Mary are also very important. I'm also linking to KAT with her Reverb 12 posts. So in a sense I'm sharing with all three outstanding blogs.

Here is Mary in my smaller cactus garden. The smaller cactus garden seemed appropriate to use for her beautiful statue.

Oh Mary, the elements are starting to leave their mark.
I worry not, you will always be beautiful.
Pensive and caring are you.

You rid us of the bad and give us the good

You stand proudly watching over us.
Thank you Mary for your presence.

For Kats Reverb 12, post #7 (5 of which I've missed) this year I've had books made for my blog, books for my Vincent series, bought a bike with a basket in back, sold a few paintings, bangles and other, and have had lots of fun just being happy. There have been donations made to those with less, lots of veggies from the garden went to others, once a week a lunch from McDonald's has been given to those that have no home. There is much to be thankful for, why not share. As to the question of what I will take with me to 2013....I hope to take my family with me, the strength I have acquired, gentleness and forgiveness, open mindedness this  wonderful year of 2012. Viva La Vida!

I do have to say this about blogging, it's opened up new doors. There have been wonderful people who I have shared my life with.  My blog has shown what 's been cooked, where I've been, what has been done, new people encountered, sadness, happiness,  and lots of other events. This is indeed very helpful to me and I would imagine to those who need to express themselves somehow. I'm thankful for these things and more.

To my PPFer's, you are definitely one of the highlights of the year. Every Friday has been a pleasure. Love this event. Thank you Eva and Kristin for hosting and please stop by their blog to visit other wonderful artists. So this is what I've worked on this week. A deer I bought at Beverly's Crafts needed life so it came to life.  It does have the unibrow, but it's hard to see. It will be taking it's place at the shop I bought it from for before and after looks.  I've titled it:

FRIDA DEAR BY GLORIA V.

REVERB 12 Day 1

DECEMBER 1st.

First of all, Happy December to all my bloggie friends. I wish you Happy Holidays. I decided to join the month with Kat  who is hosting REVERB 12. We'll reflect on this past year and what we've done and hope to do. I think I got it right.

How am I starting out ?, was the first prompt.
Although I'd love to post daily, I know I won't be able to post daily, but will give it a stab.

This morning at 7am while drinking coffee, I decided to really try my hardest to do the things I want to do and that make me happy. That's what is most important in life is being happy and doing the things that make one happy. I've repeated myself but it's true. On another note:

I also kept thinking of the Mayan calendar this morning,  and what it says will happen on the 21st at 11:11 pm, Universal Time, when the sun will be aligned with the center of the Milky Way for the first time in about 26,000 years. They say that "whatever energy typically streams to Earth from the center of the Milky Way will indeed be disrupted on 12/21/12 at 11:11 p.m. Universal Time." (Joseph writes)  Ah we shall see if the predictions of the Mayans is accurate. Lets hope it's not.

As I said, my first thought was to do the things that make me happy and thinking of this prediction doesn't. Painting and cooking does make me happy. So today I will work on this sweet deer to bring some life to it and will also bake some cookies to warm this old house up.

HAPPY REVERB TO YOU and stop by Kat's to view others thoughts. Take care,

PAINT PARTY FRIDAY

Thanks Eva and Kristin for hosting.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week and all prepared for the holidays or almost prepared. My hubbies has been on vacation this week and goes back to work on Saturday so my Xmas shopping will have to wait till next Monday. I have all the ingredient to prep the tamales here at home and steam them at my moms.

I don't feel rushed or panicked because I've written everything down and know what needs to be done. None the less, painting has been down a little and this is all I've been able to do. The eyes look all wired, intense and searching which is how I would be feeling if I didn't already know what has to be done for the holidays.

All is well, life is good and it's eggnog time with brandy or rum/

Because of it's crazy looking eyes, I've titled this piece:

"My Name Is It."
My Name  is IT-Gloria V-late Nov 2012

Have a wonderful rest of the week and weekend. Enjoy every day.
