Hi everyone in blogosphere. Here I am on Sunday just ready to kick back and relax. The day went by fast, fast and faster than a speeding bullet. For once we stayed in bed till about 8:30 and then had coffee, fed the family pet members and just about that time decided to go out and have breakfast. We didn't want the same thing at the same place (Perko's) where we always go, so we headed to McHenry Avenue and found a Mexican restuarant. We had their brunch which was not bad. A variety of differently prepared eggs, bacons, hams, potatoes, chili verde, chili colorado, and just about everything you could think of. We just had eggs with bacon, a touch of this and a touch of that and of course champagne. Oh yes, I had two glasses.
So that was this morning, We then went to other places and didn't get back till almost noon. We stopped and looked at the 3 wheel bikes, they are nice. Husband decided to clean out the garage and chop up a cypress tree that fell down outside in back. I cleaned up the house a little and put away my paints and listened to what is going on in Haiti on CNN. That's pretty much it! Dinner time rolled around and I decided to get rid of the roasted chicken in the frig by making soup and that is what you see below here.
Chicken soup made with broth and bouillon cubes. Small potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, and wee baby shells (pasta).
Here is a bowl of it ready to be eaten.
I also made corn bread, but it started to fall apart a little, it was still good.
Then for the heck of it I made a cake, added lemon, lemon zest and baked it.
Used white sugar with zest of lemon and lemon juice for the glaze.
....and there it is, waiting to be spread.
SUNDAY was a good day. It seems like there were no worries and yet we know there is so much heartache going on in this world right now. We count our blessings and wish there was more we could do besides donate a few dollars. We pray for these people who have lost everything they own and also pray for the souls that are lost. It amazes me that I can feel so fulfilled and still feel guilty about feeling fulfilled. I would say that my word for today would be "BLESSINGS." I am so thankful every day for everything that we have worked so hard for, and I always count my blessings, because things can change in a split second.VIVA LA VIDA, as I always say.
Gloria,
ReplyDeleteYou amaze me with all that you do.
Cooking is one thing, painting is another and household changes and chores is another..
Putting them all together is hard!
at least for me, once I am painting, I can't stop.. maybe long enought to make a sandwich..
I give you tons of credit.. and oh, then blogging..!~
U R Awesome,
Hugs, Darlene xo
I had a very lazy Sunday too! After directing "Ella Enchanted" this past weekend at the Civic theater in our town - I'm completely worn out!! Stayed in my PJ's all day and even had a NAP!!! Yay!!! Hope you had a wonderful weekend ♥

ReplyDeleteYes, these are times when we all have to count our blessings. there is so much pain and heartache in the world, only God knows why.
Looks so delicious...I love homemade chicken soup...nothing like it. We got the cold front from CA and it's been a bit chilly around here too, but warming up until the next storm.

ReplyDeleteHi Darlene. I just do the things that need to be done and it is pretty much a routine. Thank you for your kind words. It is hard, but one thing for sure, I have to say hi to all my blogger friends like YOU. Take care.
You know Cindy, I can't remember the last time I stayed in my pj's all day long. I have to give that a try. Maybe this weekend I will. We don't have plans on going anywhere so it will be pj's all day on either Sat. or Sun.:)
Yes soup on these kinds of days is totally awesome and so relaxing. I like your soups too yaya. Have a great week. Take care.
I sent the cold front over to you Georgina.:D Yes it did hit the spot. Soup always tends to do that. Thanks for stopping by. Stay warm.
Deepa, I think I would prefer the business instead of being idle. If I were idle I definitely would be bored. I hope your daughter won. Take care.
Hi Glora,
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a lovely day to me! Soup is such comfort food to me and I always have to make some sort of bread to go with it. I love hot cornbread slathered in butter. I could eat a whole pan by myself!
Manuela
Hola Gloria, mm, i want a little piece of cake, yummy.., hugs.
ReplyDeleteGloria, it sounds like you had a magnificent Sunday. We've been making alot of chicken soup lately, this cold weather has gone on too long. I'm ready for spring and summer. Your lemon cake sounds delicious.
ReplyDeleteYummm... A Sunday dinner that memories are made of. Dee-lish!
ReplyDeleteHola Lunara. I'm sending you cybercake.:) How are you? Good to see you.
ReplyDeleteHi Manuela. I personally like corn bread with a little sugar in it. I toss about 1/4 cup sugar in the mixture. It is good. Don't eat too much Manuela, you'll have to exercise more. :D Take care.
Hi Katy. I just came from reading your post on the chocolate cake and I left there with my mouth watering. It looked so delish. Sunday dinners are good, especially with friends and family.
Teresa, I'm ready for Spring too. It is so much fun watching all the fruits of one's labor come to be. Have a great Wednesday Teresa. Take care.
Hi Gloria! Just reading all your posts and catching up. I see that you've been busy as usual: cooking, and being creative. :)
ReplyDeleteI've been busy tidying up my house to sell it. I'm turning into a rather boring housewife but will be back to "normal"(read: eclectic and all over the place, lol) over the next weeks or so.
Thank you so much for reading my blog; it's much appreciated. Take care and have a lovely weekend!!:)
Gloria, every time I pass through here, I am amazed at your inventiveness. I nominate you for an award.
ReplyDeleteFelipe...I accept your award. Thank you very much. That's very nice of you:) Thx for stopping by. Have a great Friday.
ReplyDeleteHi Maya! I was just at your blog a little while ago. I'm glad you are almost ready for the open houses to come. I am sure your home will sell fast. Good luck and I can hardly wait to see your new home. Take care.
