wedding preparations

i think i am rather fast in getting the stuff done...efficient or kan cheong whatever you call it... :P.
1. choosing the big day
lucky that both our parents are not the superstitious type, they left us to choose the date ourselves. although we are not superstitious, we still felt there is a need to choose an auspicious date so that everything will turn out fine :). but not wanting to waste $$, i decided to search on the web and managed to get an auspicious date that doesnt clash with any of us and our parents.

status: completed.

2. selecting the venue
sourcing and booking of the venue has been done within 1 mth. that has been quite a breeze....getting the quotations via email, shortlisting the ones we liked and then meeting the wedding coordinator to discuss the package and viewing of the ballrooms and suites.

status: completed.

3. bridal gown package
this is quite a headache. we had the bad experience of being hard-sell by 2 bridal shops when we started our search. that has left us quite "traumatised" at first..haha. subsequently, went browsing with ms ong and the rest turned out quite fine. wonder if it's because of our partners wasn't there so the chances of closing a deal is not that high, so there wasn't any hard-selling :)

somehow, the prettier gowns are the more ex ones. and most of the bridal shops made it more expensive if we take ala carte packages. and made it so ridiculously expensive if we don't choose their photoshoot packages. i wanted to have all the pre-wedding photos back instead of having to selectively choose 20-30 after a hard day outdoor shoot. but budget constraint...sigh...

status: in progress....

4. photoshoot package
this is another headache...after looking at many photos of the different photographers on the website, i think i could no longer tell the difference between a 1k+ package vs a 3k - 4k package. or have i been telling myself that the more expensive ones don't look much different from the cheaper ones? so why choose the more expensive one? hahaha..

status: in progress....

i'm back!

haven't been writing for a long time. guess i have been quite lazy these days.

looking back at my calendar, things that have happened for the past few months

feb
1. ryan came back from europe biz trip (didnt managed to get what i wanted for me)
2. cny - lots of feasting
3. went to genting for a getaway (i suggested the place coz i havent been there for a long time. we went straight after cny and the place is packed with people. really regretted and we paid more to squeeze with pple)
4. attended yvonne's son's 1st birthday at Mint toy museum (very interesting place with about 3-4 levels of toys)

mar
1. biz trip to gz

apr
nothing really interesting in this month

may
1. my awaited getaway to redang, the beautiful island :)
spent the day snorkelling and lazing by the beach or soaking in the pool and the night walking down the beach looking at the sky filled with stars..this is life
after the trip, i became very busy preparing for my big day! hehe.

i am not too sure if i m too anxious or wat, we started looking for venues, sending out emails to the hotels and viewing the venues all within these 3 weeks..hahaha. think we have more or less decided on the venue and the next thing is the choosing of a bridal package...i think that will be a real headache. we just visited 2 bridal studios and kind of had quite a stressful experience dealing with their hard sell tactics. how many more to go.....?

ryan's birthday celebration on 16 Jan 2010

celebrated Ryan's birthday at il lido. the mushroom salad is nice but the main was just so so. i ordered prawn ravioli which tasted like dumplings and i'm paying 10 times the price i could get at the hawker center...well there's a price for ambience. Ryan had risotto which was a huge serving but i guess rice is cheaper :P to end off the meal, we had tiramisu which i think i had tasted better ones elsewhere. ambience is perfect with the sunset and sea in the background. but was rather pissed when the waiter didn't even apologise when he didnt give me the discount and i had to asked for it after signing the bill and realising his mistake.

then we had a tour around resorts world where we were greeted by many friendly staff at the hard rock hotel lobby.

ended the day with a drink at keppel bay waterfront bar. and i realised what we could do next time...bring a mat and lie on the grass to star gaze =)
