New Directions... yes! yes! yes!
Hmmm ideally I should have a skeleton / backbone, of what I want to blog about... food? travel? volunteer work? how about everything?! Alright, I will write towards the direction of Eat.Play.Love (with love being my passion for volunteering)
Today happens to be 2 Oct which means I can technically say I start from Oct onwards. Yesterday, I did have good food for dinner (at Soup Restaurant) but didn't take photos so yup, nothing to blog about.
Will blog about my upcoming volunteering work this coming Sunday ~ till then, see ya!

sometimes it's just fate...
In his house, I was really happy to see Dan again :) n happiest moment was meeting his baby daughter Mikae and pretty wife May (yes she's e ex-girlfriend now) Caught a glimpse of Eddie in e balcony but he left even before I came out of e bedroom so nope we didnt get a chance to say hello.
First person I spotted - Barry. Always happy, nice dimple, good looking guy who came with his girlfriend. Wow! He's getting married :) happy for him! Remembered him as a brother who is always looking aft me, well who did not? All e guys in e grp all doted on me n treated me like a younger sister last time...
Second person - Julius. He didnt look any different from before. It was so easy to spot him. Especially since he found me on fb and added me. Chatted with him for awhile, and ate lunch with his wife n daughter. he and Dan are certainly best brothers n so Julius was naturally like an elder brother to me.
Third person - Edmund. Recognised him as he was walking in at e main door. After Julius shook his hand, I stretched out my hand and said Hi Edmund. He was like in a state of shock and went, "Hi........ SHARON!" Nice one. Glad he could recognise me too!
Forth person - BEN and JOCELYN! Ben was like my best pal, really really close one. When he saw me, he went like, "This one cannot shake hand, must hug de" Yes we hugged. I kinda expected it. I certainly missed him a great deal! 15yrs apart has really taken away alot from us, the chemistry seemed to have left and I'm quite hopeful to find it back.
Then Alan arrived. He's not someone I would say I missed. Well, he used to be my ex. We hanged out alot when we were buddies and the feeling of being friends with him is cool. I still heard news abt him sometimes, I bumped into him once few yrs back and he was the first I added in fb among this group. So yah...
Left Dan's house feeling glad I came. I hope I will still see them again, really. If can, for a great meal together. If not, then yah drinks (haha we could still chat about e good ole days when we drank at Boat Quay every single Saturday night till e cows come home...)

my past
Just accepted Alan's friend request few weeks back. We have all grown up, it was 15years ago, but it seemed like yesterday ~ maybe that's why they say "Yesterday Once More"...
Though I was still in contact with Dan (my gor gor) few years ago, we met afew times, had him on my Friendster but just couldn't find him on FB. I really duno how to contact Ben and Jocelyn (my first matchmade couple whom I knew had their first son, when I "last seen them") It is really unbelievable when I managed to find Dan and Ben on Alan's FB, why would I be surprised? They were besties many many years ago when we hanged out together, every weekend! Those were the days... I missed so much... My havoc days, happening days, playful days, clubbing days, sleepless days...
Today I browsed Ben's photo albums and found some old pics. Recognised afew faces, yes they have FB accounts too. Something is holding me back, not sure if I should add them as friends. I wonder if they still remember me. I wonder if they still want to meet me. The feeling is strange, nervous yet hopeful.
This group of guys is the one I always chat about fondly, as I always share with my close friends, the group whom I spend my youth with, the group of army guys who let me learn so much about army life, about brotherhood, about friendship. I grew up with them, spent a good 3-4years with them. Everything that happened over those weekends suddenly surfaced, I can see all the scenes enact right before me, I can almost smell their cologne, ciggy, beer... It's so real, as if I am with them again, chilling out in Sunset Bar, drowning ourselves in beer at Barons, singing ktv, eating prata until morn so we could take the first bus home... I miss u guys, I really do!

Our beloved Shih Tzu ~ Coffee
I'm sorry Coffee. I know you want to be with us. We really want you to be well, and feel better.
I bought her fav potato buns, was overjoyed when she ate so many of them.
I also got kueh lapis from bengawan solo, for Shirley and Phyllis to feed her in the evening.
Everybody cried like mad. My heart hurt so much when the vet injected Coffee to put her down. I dared not see. I was totally torned.
I miss her. Everybody at home does too.

my fav month is passing me by...
Well, today is like, hmmmmm 19th Dec and almost gone liao... goodness! somehow I cannot believe it, as in, why do I become even busier after joining VED?!
Have I really made the wrong move, like what the counter aunties are saying??
Well, they realised my time is more packed than before and I'm spending even longer hours in office nowadays...
Anywayz, I feel it's really different from the fulfilling life in RH where I touched people's heart and get ultra close to the children and parents in the community. Here, it's just alot of interaction with volunteers - who are close to my heart too. Yes many ppl say I've been volunteering for so many yrs, this role just comes abt naturally! And well, I also learnt that it adds to my portfolio really nicely, definitely adding some value to my future career :) n well, accumulating great karma too!
Month of dec started with my BKK trip (long-awaited one, since tickets were bought in Feb) and since e heavy flood affecting many many parts of BKK, the travelling grp shrinked from 5 to 4. I was still skeptical about going, until a week before, upon confirmation from hotel and embassy to get clearance on the situation there. Trip was cool, and I love the people who went together :)
Biggest event that happened this month has to be Murali's proposal to Xiuzhen at Graze (Rochester). We planned it for weeks, and the video was like ready a day before the fateful Friday! Friends of both gathered there, hid in bushes and behind walls, ready to "ambush" them when the right time strikes, it was a cooling wait since it rained in e afternoon - perfect weather (thanks to God!). Thankfully also, she said YES! and she admitted it was purely bcoz we were all there :) hehe Mu, you better thank us!
It was supposed to be our chalet weekend at Celestial Resort on 17th, but alas! the rain dampened our moods and while having nasi lemak at Changi Village before boarding the boat at the jetty, we changed our mind. Just like that! It was awesome! Coz we sort of all agreed that going to Ubin is not the best way to spend our weekend... and so we left :) Off we went to Army Museum to play laser tag. Well, the laser tag setup was not as classy as we expected, but nonetheless, we still had lots of fun! Played three games and one bonus round, with Han and I emerging as final survivors (haha all because I decided to hide and not come out after I was left with 1 lifeline!) hehe we then went to Jiahong's meeting room to chill out, and had our little meeting to decide what's for dinner. Finally, we went to Pioneer Seafood at JP and enjoyed a super yummy meal of Yoke Cheese Crabs, Nonya Assam Garoupa, Cappucino Pork Ribs, Poached Spinach (with Century, Salted and Norm eggs) and Ginseng Chicken soup :) nice!
And then, another highlight this month has to be attending Leron's baby shower - with shower pouring onto us the whole day! Went to collect the cakes in the morning, distributed to Qiuling's parents and also Jiahong's mother's buddhist school. Back home for the buffet, entertained, took photos, ate red-dye eggs, carried Leron and etc.
Now, what's left will be Christmas weekend and New Year's weekend :) wonderful!

OMG today's already mid Oct
Half of Oct has passed, means I've been with Volunteers Engagement & Development for a good 2weeks liao. Actually, as at today, I'm still feeling abit lost and unsure of what I should be doing next. Well, I'll try and iron it out. As it is, I will plan my workplan for 2012, what kind of training & activities to run, and sort out the workflow for it.
Meanwhile, before my mentor goes on maternity leave (EDD 10 Dec) which may be pretty soon, I better buck up and learn the ropes fast and steady.
Some highlights for the first half of the month for sharing:-
1 Oct - JR SHG's children's day celebration. Initially it was quite tough to get e kids to play games, but they later got convinced to play "murderer" and actually requested for encore! haha... There were food, lots and drinks and junk food. Also took grp pic after that, outside the centre where the wall mural was.
6 Oct - Dept dinner at office, which was pretty cool. Colleagues came up with a food list, selected afew of them to be in the organising committee, brought steamboat, food and etc. At around 5.30pm, they went to prepare everything and by 6.15pm we started dinner. Weather was suitable too, it was pouring, super cooling to eat steamboat outdoors. We tucked in, chatted, laughed, ate and ate... finished around 9pm and everybody helped to clear up and wash up. It could really be a blessing that we have an all-girls team!
8 Oct - RH SHG. Bought a brownie cake over, had it nicely decorated by staff of P.Osh. Love it so much, counter staff felt it was too sweet :( haha. Activity was fun, Yuhui bought plain kites and the kids had fun designing and personalising their own kites. Aft that, we brought the P6 kids out to Tiong Bahru park to fly the kites. It wasn't easy coz of there was NO wind! But anyway, most if not all had fun :)
13 Oct - Kit's 2nd concert in her 18yrs singing career. The last time I went to her concert (or rather, the 1st time she held a concert) was 10year ago. It was truly awesome and nostalgic to hear some of her evergreens! All e fans and audience respected her request not to take photos or recording during the concert and it was kinda cool, we just sang along, cheered, laughed, and enjoyed her beautiful voice, no flashes no camera-clicking sound... I think she's e only artiste to attract me to attend her concert twice, maybe thrice if she has it again (I already regretted not going during the Huayi festival when she performed at Esplanade with SCO) Jieyi ~ jiayou!

Where do I begin? ...to tell e story...
On the plate, neatly written, were the words "Will you marry me?"
So simple, so cliche, yet heartwarming.
5years ago today, I was happily attached with John. We received blessings from family and friends, and have decided, after he is back from Taiwan (posted there by SAF for a year) ~ we will get married. go through e traditional Indian wedding where I will get to wear those pretty sari costumes and heavy expensive jewellery. Well, it's unusual for me, coz I'm so used to wearing "civilian" clothes day in-out. haha...
During the 1year he was there, something tragic happened. It changed my whole life, I was down with depression, sulked in my own world for a gd 2years or more. A freak accident happened at the campsite, a plane crashed and he left me, left the whole world, to be on his own. How could he bear to do that? I was waiting for him to come back, didn't he promise me to return and marry me?
For a long time, I did not tell anybody how I really felt. I did not even dared talk about him at all. Tears fall naturally, heartache naturally... during this period, I was afraid, scared of getting hurt again, moved a step back whenever someone seems interested in me... I dun wan to go through another round of pain again. I dun wan to be tormented again.
Tim came into my life, gave me the courage to start a new relationship, and I soon regain faith to fall in love again. It was a beautiful story, and I feel totally immersed in happiness and love. Today, as he proposed, I am once again melted by his kindness and devoteness.
At the back of my head, I was deafened by the drum and music, as we stepped onto the stage in the wedding ceremony. In front of me, I could see all my family members and friends, happy faces everywhere, blessing me with their love. In the corner, I could see a vision of John, smiling, giving me his best wishes, shielding me from harm and danger, protecting me with all he can, to ensure I lead a good life and stay happily forever after.
(Names have been changed to protect my friend.)

feeling rich? or purely indulgence?
Oh well, let's move on the content / body of this blog post...
With Sept's pay - I have purchased an expensive toy, a 18-105mm lens (well, it's a kit lens, so I didn't pay too much for it) which cost me $280. So looking forward to using it :) possibly on this Sat!
Moving forward, I plan to get myself a Samsung Galaxy Tab with Oct's pay. Hmmm I think I can afford it now, but I'll rather wait and see. Dun wana squeeze myself dry and then suffocate towards the end of the month, feeding on water and grass! haha... (a pity it doesn't come in red) *that will be my only electronic toy which is not red, besides Nicole which of coz comes in black only.
Hopefully, by end of the year, my dream phone arrives in Spore and launches well after my bonus (if we do have bonus) so I can indulge in it - Oh it's a Nokia N9 :) pretty gal! Steady boom-bi-bi, I'm still not getting any Apple products!
Surprisingly I'm not blogging about any upcoming trips, as I always do. Well, other than my Dec bangkok trip, I am definitely not looking forward to other vacations. Bcoz next year, I hope to travel to Down Under to collect my degree and attend the graduation ceremony! Ta-da, that's another indulgence! So well, to save up my annual leaves and $$, my only two trips planned for 2012 will be one to Australia (5days) and one to Cambodia (10days) for volunteering project :)

beautiful Sunday :) nicely remembered!
Yes, we have said YES e night before to going for a Sunday run/walk at e park!
(mind you, we ended Saturday night with high-level ktv at Teo Heng for 3hrs until midnight...yawnz)
We arrived e earliest, and for obvious reasons we got a carpark lot fast. And had to wait for e other two cars to get a lot before e drivers could come over. Happening ~ 5pax in 3cars, so environment-unfriendly... Anyway, e guys did their run, breathless, perspiring. e gals (Danlin & I) did our walk, chat & yes we perspired too! Oh I forgot to mention that I brought Lucia along, and she did some work, snapping away scenery in e park, as well as over breakfast at Hua Nam in thomson/sin ming area. Breakfast, I would say, was cheap & good. Lovely way of gaining back e pounds we lost at MacRitchie moments earlier!
Car wash ended up with just cleaning of e interior... :)
It was sufficient to tire us out. Somehow I think e icecream cone I ate during our "exterior car wash" did me any further harm (to my waistline)
Back home to nap, till 5pm.
Took a pretty empty bus 77 to International building. I was very early, and yes hungry, again!
Bought meatballs from Isetan to satisfy my hunger, while waiting for Pek Geok.
Rest arrived on time, at TCC and we soon settled down & placed our order.
Hmmmm they kept me guessing for awhile, who e mystery guest was going to be.
Yes! My first guess was correct! My xiaomei ~ Si Yao :) sweet neighbour who used to sit beside me when I was at HQ (before relocating to Redhill)
Dinner was great, as always (never get disappointed with TCC food)
Surprises were aplently.
From an envelope which was supposed to contain doc for Redhill, to a certificate which named me a super staff.
Then a lovely photo collage which we found out was supposed to be presented only after KTV (haha, I returned it to Wanxuan who presented later on again...)
Winston also gave me a photoframe which had 2 pics taken with counter staff and Redhill's volunteers.
KTV was quite fun though everybody appeared shy and sang little.
Highlight was the finale which included presentation of the photo collage, video recording of speeches by everybody & some really funny actions I did! Lolz!
Jiahong was already waiting outside e carpark when we ended.
We spent some time taking pics at e counter area, where we disrupted e staff's supper again and again... Aiyo we used 3 different handphones to take the pics lo. Funny!
Such a beautiful Sunday, where everything went on well :)

Appetisers: Cold crabs, prawns, mussels, scallops, raw oyster, sashimi (salmon, tuna...) salad (many different choices & dressings), rojak (singaporean style)
Mains: Chicken rice, laksa, noodles & rice, dishes like chicken, duck, fish, veg..., chilli crab, satay, teppanyaki, tempura, pizza, pasta
Dessert: Waffle, crepe, ice-cream, cakes n eclairs, fruits
Drinks: Soft drinks, iced peach / lemon / green tea, coffee & tea (singaporean style = complete with e teh si, siew dai etc choices)
I might have missed out something, but well looking at the selection above, it's enough to scare you :)
Went there with my counter staff, as a farewell dinner for Winston coz he's leaving Redhill centre (duno when but yah guess they cannot wait!). We took very little photos and even went home at 8+. Satisfying dinner and I was feeling full even the next morn :)
On Sunday, I only had 2 meals - brunch which included 2 plain pratas n 1 teh tarik at around 11am and zi-char with Zhiwei, Elson and their wives, as well as Audrey jiejie at around 6pm.

a simple birthday dinner
Mac breakfast was provided by Marcus, strolled along the way to SPGG with colleagues and started snapping pics already. Winston lent his D5100 while I borrowed Jen Yi's 18-200mm lens (which was awesome to the max!) Unfortunately someone deleted some of my pics when uploading to the shared folder, I thot it was kind of rude since they are technically MY photos :( *should have at least checked with me first right? Weird lo, he actually included 2 of his "testing shots"... (Unfriendly)
Went for some snacks at Asian Kitchen (Vivo) since I was still early for dinner. Hong ate his luncheon meat fried rice ~ I really would like to give the fried rice(s) at Asian Kitchen a very very good rating! Tried afew different "flavours" before and was never disappointed :) The xiao long bao is also nice, not the best but one of them, definitely!
Dinner was at Imperial Treasure. Had some fun time playing with the girls, esp Keona who was ultra active and funny that night. She was laughing at almost everything... while Mattea was gloomy and not eating well. Think it's prolly coz of her cough n phlegm, poor girl. On the whole, the meal was not bad but I cannot recall any outstanding dishes worth mentioning.
Both arms were aching (esp my left one, which held on to the quite-heavy lens for the whole day) and since the girls were not in their best mood, we finished up dinner and set off home. Went to bed real early that night :)

Love weekends :)
Saturday went on with 3 events involving Redhill ~ a dizigui workshop at hongwen school, a healthy eating, active planning workshop at the centre and a mid-autumn celebration at hong lim park. Honestly, having to work from 10am to 10pm really killed me.
Slept very well on Saturday night and woke up at 9+ for breakfast with family on Sunday morning. Lazed around at home until afternoon to watch Cars 2 and then wedding dinner at Quality Hotel.
Have known Huimin for 8years since she joined the organisation as staff. Very down to earth and humble person who is always ready with a smile for everybody. I remembered her snowskin mooncakes which she gave to Jurong centre years ago - nice! And e times we spent for those events and SHG sessions... Nice friend to know :)

More More Buffets!
Yeah last buffet in August was at Seoul Garden on Saturday 27 August... my farewell treat by the counter ladies of Redhill :) arrived before 6pm on Polling Day (Presidential Election where Dr TT won Dr TCB by 0.35% of votes ~ so LAME!)
Love the new way of getting our food by ordering using the mouse and LCD screen. No need to fight with peeps for the bulgogi beef/chicken and prawns and other delicacies from the buffet table. Appetisers were found instead, for us to help ourselves and lastly the dessert (which I found overwhelming, too overwhelming).
Well I shall not mention the food, which seemed to be norm except it really filled my stomach, yes better than xian de lai. Ok let's look at the dessert. There were like 6 flavours of ice-cream with toppings of another 6 different kinds of cereals. There were cakes and nonya kuehs. There was a fantastic spread of stuff to make real cool ice kacang or chendol. There were also fruits! Well, after our happening dinner, there was really not too much room left for so much dessert. I settled for fruits and a scoop of peppermint choc chips ice-cream only. Made god-mum an extra large ice kacang :) hehe

physio...
Today's session was much more fruitful. Managed to stretch more, hit more points, but also went through more pain. Heatpad was so warm I started perspiring away. Well, today onwards I will need to do some stretching exercises at home, twice a day, morn n night. Hopefully, lazy me will remember to do them and diligently do them. Haha...
Next (and possibly last) session will be on friday 16 sep. Yes! hopefully I don't need to go thru the pain anymore :)

more buffets!
Sunday 14 August 2011 was e first anniversary of YOG (nostalgic feel when I saw e purple army of volunteers at Expo early in e morning at 8.30am) It turned out to be pretty boring, except e dancing performance by Singapore Taekwando Federation and catching a glimpse of Yam Ah Mee in person! Well, of coz catching up with camera fanatics Yongqing n Jimmy n Joo Kee n Chrong Meng etc... Thanks to Jiahong for waking up even earlier to come fetch me to Expo :)
Brunch was bento set from Stamford Catering, we actually sang lotsa praises for the pasta, dark sauce chicken n broccoli! Skipped lunch n went on to high tea with Jiahong, mummy n Phyllis. Oh Yongqing was hungry so we went Wendy's before that, I ate a sinful fried chicken n some fries! goodness...!
Rendezvous' high tea is not bad, and with e National Day promo, I only paid $23++ per pax :) love e laksa n dessert spread. and yes I wrapped my own popiah! e rest of e food was just so-so I would say, passable but not extremely nice...
Just a little distraction ~ went to watch Hero: Drawing Show on Saturday 20 August 2011 with Jiahong n Phyllis. Happening lo, my heels' strap broke while I was in Popeye's then luckily I got a pair of slippers in e car, Jiahong went up to e carpark with e slippers for me :) e four Korean performers are so awesome, although I half expected e creativity n artwork, I did not anticipate the humour and audience engagement part. Pleasantly surprised by e whole performance... Thanks to Phy for suggesting to watch this!
The next buffet I had within e month was Sunday nite with the FSCians :) STEAMBOAT! well, I think it's one of e few times I really ate alot alot until super full! And I love e potato noodles which Wanxuan introduced... hehe love e place too, for its cleanliness n airconditioned area... we were still quite cool aft e feast. Dessert was at Swirl Art, yogurt's yummy n helped me feel less heavy!

Porridge supper :)
We went there as a "secret society gathering" our group of 5 (hopefully 6 soon) have called ourselves secret society team coz we got along pretty well, and shared lots of secrets. It was decided that we will keep one another updated of what's happening to us and among our common friends w/o hiding anything. Anyway, gatherings are also supposed to be not known to others... hehe
Met ard 10.20pm at the hotel lobby, went in and after chatting for awhile, we decided to help ourselves to the food. The spread was alright :) let me see - hokkien noodles, chilli crab, fish cake, steam egg, steam prawns, stewed beef, luo han cabbage, braised duck, squid, ngor hiang, braised egg, tau pok, fish, curry chicken etc and of coz porridge! dessert incl ice kacang and ice-cream. Not bad for $10++ per pax.
Birthday cake cutting slightly past midnight before we left at around 12.45am. We were still feeling quite full when reached home, but too tired to wait for digestion and all. Showered and went to bed :) FAT!!!

Majulah! The Singapore Spirit!
When I first received a missed call on e same day Shirley informed us that Darren "won the ballot to receive 2 NDP tix", I was so excited. Waiting by my phone, I received e 2nd call in the afternoon ard 4pm. YES! My mummy won the ballot too! 4 tix for us - Phyllis, Jiahong and I were like thinking who to ask to go with us. We decided on Kelly after Phyllis returned to Sg and she was abit skeptical about it. Kept saying that "everything is so small" haha!
Yesterday afternoon, Phyllis and I prepared ourselves, packed what to bring, dressed in red top and white bottoms (which she took some time to find that), we left the house when Jiahong and Kelly arrived to pick us. Shirley and Darren were already at Raffles City, had their lunch and were window-shopping while waiting for us. Bought our Mac, ate my sundae, collect F1 fans and 100plus bom-boms (I duno what you call them) and off we went to Marina Square where Darren bought a red tee from Fox. Along the way, I managed to coax a pair of mother and daughter to exchange their blue sector tix with Shirley's green ones so my sister n hubby can sit with us! Bless them for agreeing!
Went through the gantries, collected our Fun Packs, up the stairs on the floating platform and we were seated in the sun, baking there for an hour or two before Gurmit and fellows came to entertain us abit. Sang "Hey Jude", "Dancing Queen" and etc, did the Singapore wave, shouted "Majulah" whenever any of them said "Singapore", waved our flags, stood up when the ministers arrived, I was tearing with LKY walked up the stairs - OMG he looked so frail! We shouted "ooooooooooh YEAH" when the red lions landed. We looked amazed when all the defence machines, vehicles arrived. Paid attention to the storyline of Sharon Au and her son and her grandson and kampong friends. Wowed at the colourful displays of performers and props. Sang Majulah Singapura twice - once during the "flag raising ceremony" as if we were in school :) said the Singapore pledge during Pledge Moment at 8.10pm after watching those amazing fireworks for about 10mins or so, while singing the National Day songs altogether. Waved goodbye to SR Nathan (his last presidential year at the NDP). Clapped our hands alot of times. Took many photos. It was truly a night not to be forgotten!
On the way home, we stopped by Niqqi's to have our dinner-cum-supper. Ate banana cheese prata and pinched some of the mee kuah meant to be shared. Kelly ordered a maggi seafood special and added chilli sauce in it, weird but they all said nice. Haha. Jiahong ate a small plate of maggi goreng and like 50% of the mee kuah. Phyllis only had horlicks dinosaur and took a little of maggi seafood special + mee kuah + a spoon of maggi goreng :) Satisfied, off we went to hsh.
Good night Singapore, hope you enjoyed your 46th birthday bash!

one of my fav boss ~ GH
He is someone who is well-respected, by almost every dept in e organisation. As a long-time volunteer, he has whizzed past being just a volunteer into being part of several mgmt committees, making some major / minor decisions here and there.
I like his character, straight to the point, giving us criticism whenever necessary, choosing e right opportunity (always) to guide us along e way. Even via emails, he taught us how to handle things positively and politically right.
Last night, I broke his heart by telling him about my decision to leave. It was traumatising I would say. Having been fighting inside me about "when is the right moment", I finally plucked up my courage when he "invaded" into e space between Linnie n I when we were chatting. He sort of guessed it, but didn't expect me to leave within 2yrs of my job. He knew I was under pressure and torment by xxxx, but still, he didn't realise that would happen so quickly. I could see his eyes became teary (maybe it was because he was tired) He was clearly very upset. Thankfully there were Linnie n Dr Lim around, so he didn't really lose his cool.
Finally, after about an hr of chat, he left... after asking me to email my bosses that he would like to meet up with them... sigh! and yah when at home, he sent me this sms "You resign, I also resign. Good night!" gosh! that's fierce huh?

HUGE decisions...
Most of e time during this 1.5yrs, I have to admit that I was happy. Enjoyed handling parents and seniors, playing with e kids, chatting with e counter staff, spending time with colleagues, doing outreach to VWOs and GROs, organising networking sessions and events, etc etc etc. Sadly there were also down time. When I get drenched daily when e negative cloud hoovers over my head n rains, when my friends ask when I'm going to seriously work instead of getting paid for "volunteering", when I'm unable to arrange to shop for furniture with mummy, watch movie with family, n have breakfast with nieces, when I cannot fit into my grpmates' schedule to meet up for grp discussions... that's when I feel totally discouraged to stay on.
If you noticed, it's a thin line between being selfish and staying for e sake of my interest VS doing something for my family n friends and leaving so I have more time to "distribute" among everybody, including myself (a friend used to tell me, "you need ME time too!").
Alright, I guess the above has easily gave away clues, or not obvious hints of the HUGE decision that I have made.
Next comes another "medium" decision. To join a corporate sector and be a Centre Supervisor, oversee 20+ staff (call centre, front-desk n sales) crawl or climb up e corporate ladder... VS to join a social service sector and be an Operations Exec, in charge of library, IT hub and thrift shop. Both have already offered me officially...!
Goodness! Life is all about making decisions ~ you decide if you should wake up when your alarm clock rings, you decide what you want to eat for breakfast (sometimes the choices are limited), you decide if you wana take bus, mrt or cab to work, you decide the tasks to complete within e day etc etc etc...
Alright, so much for my first official blog, after my friendster blog closed down (Jan 2007 to July 2011) all my hardwork n memories are cleaned out... there must be sweet ones, I'm sure. But I guess, I will just leave them as it is. I'm someone who believes that things happen for a reason, I believe in fate wholeheartedly too! Omg!!
For all those fans out there, it must hv been a long wait man!
Many many things have happened during this period, but to cut the story short, I will fill you in (briefly)
30 Sep - went Bangkok with 3 other couples... wonderful trip! bought many many things, skirts, T-shirts, blouses, shoes, bags etc... we oso had the chance of trying many road-side stalls... I love Bangkok! hehe
7 Oct - Granny passed away. She's my last surviving grandparent. I used to stay with her when I was young... cried like hell lor... just cannot control... whenever, I think of her, my tears will just fall naturally.. She's with heaven now, I'm not worried for her anymore. She's been bed-ridden for many years liao, feeding on a tube which "transport" milk to her during mealtimes.
last week of Oct - best friend broke up with his 3years gf. He had been wanting to do this for 1year ler... finally!
1st week of Nov - best friend started his relationship with new gf (a bubbly and extremely sweet gal) She's so nice, no temper, chatty, cute... that you'll just love her!
3rd week of Nov - realised dat a 20-yr old gal in my office is infatuated with a 32-yr old man. Actually thot they were quite a match and is enthu abt bringing them together woh!
me started small business with friends, selling T-shirts (2 ranges - soccer stars and jap designers) our stall was at S'pore Poly for 1week, then outside Meridien shopping centre (till end Dec)
1st Dec (yesterday) - best friend sent his new gf flowers and balloon... *1st monthiversary!!! v sweet.... they went dinner at Modesto's then strolled at Esplanade. But sadly he was having running nose, and had to end the night early.

A Day @ Sentosa
Arranged to meet with 10 of my colleagues + partners at Beach Carpark in Sentosa that day at 1.30pm. Before that, our nominated organiser, Joanne had planned who to buy/ bring what... some of them were late, but it doesn't matter. Our mood remained relaxed and cheery...
Found a semi-shady spot on Palawan Beach, coz one couple was quite particular abt getting tanned.... we laid the groundsheet on the sandy beach and began eating... there were chicken drumlets, fried bee hoon, sandwich, drinks and lotsa of tidbits... food was ample! Settled down comfortably, we chit chat while eating, and some of the gals applied sun-tanning oil (supplied by me!)
Thereafter, we jumped into the welcoming sea and played "monkey" with a rugby ball.. It was sunny, but very shiok! We had lotsa of fun n laughter... tired, we went back to the picnic area and attempted to finish the food. Played "zhong ji mi ma" and some unlucky souls ate so much they puke! It was abt 5+ that we went to the bathroom to shower and got ready to leave... then we found the chair lift which cost abt $6 per pax, feeling thrilled, some of us tried it...... it was real cool!
Though it was tiring and hot, we had a wonderful day and hope to go back there again!!!

Abscess
Me had this abscess growing near my pubic area 1mth ago... consulted my co doctor and took antibiotics + painkillers. It subsided and disappeared in a week's time.
Now, it's back again. Larger, redder and more painful... ard same area, but slightly further away from the pubic area, this time near my thigh. It was super painful since Thurs.... terrible... each time I walked, lifted my left leg, sit, lie down or even twitch abit, it hurts!
Had no choice but to go see my family doctor this morn. He, being a dermatologist, immediately got me to change into a sarong upon hearing I got an abscess. Injected anesthetic and started to poke the growth with some "sharp" thingy to drain out the pus. Felt instant pain but subsided when the anesthetic start working on the area. Was given antibiotics and some cream to apply.
When I reached home, the pain became unbearing.... the anesthetic probably wear off ler... pain like hell lor... couldn't even move at all. Lie in bed whole afternoon and could only limp to bathroom...
Now not so bad leh... just pray that it won't come back again... *sigh*

my National Day
I had a surprise call ard 11.30am... from my beloved sis, Phyllis... who knew how patriotic I was... who knew how I much I would love to attend the NDP... who knew how much I adore Mr Lee KY... she said, "Jie, I got tickets, you wan?" ..... I want?! Of coz I do, I desire.... I pinned for it!!!!!
As joe had other prior commitments, I brought a friend along (Crystal) and met up with Phyllis and her friend at Jurong East MRT @3pm... By the time we reached Kallang MRT, it was oredi chaotic.... the whole stn was "flooded" with Singaporeans, dressed in our favourite colour, RED! We waited for Phyllis n friend (have to protect him, as afew readers of my blog belong to his school) to change to their red tees... I was impressed with the marshalls who controlled the traffic and human crowd... v systematic and orderly... we finally boarded the shuttle bus ard 4.15pm and reached the stadium in less than 15mins.
The whole stadium was like a sea of red n white.... ard 90% dressed in red tees.... it was simply awesome...! Not my 1st time to watch, had gone there few years ago with Joe, but the feeling is different each time... not sure why? ....we queued at the Yellow tickets q... and walked slowly with the crowd in, then queuing for the fun pack which consisted of many many goodies and stuff to "play" with during the parade....
The pre-parade segment was pretty fun... with Gurmit Singh and Michelle Chia leading our side of the stadium - the white team... we cheered, we did the Kallang wave, we sang, we danced.... had lotsa fun! felt so young... hehe
Parade was the norm, except we saw someone from the contingent faint... couldn't make out which uniform group, but he/she was holding a flag... even had the flag lying on the sketcher... Performance was also norm... except with alot of fireworks which were simply beautiful!!!!
Very touched with the display of fireworks and then the singing of National Day songs.... we stood up and danced.... we screamed and shouted at the top of our head.... we sang Majulah Singapura twice... but who cares? we said the pledge, in harmony, united as one... we waved the flag...
It was a tiring nite.... we were super exhausted therafter..... walked with the crowd towards Kallang MRT, but couldn't continue our journey halfway.... legs going to break ler... perspiring like hell..... whole body ache... old liao.... luckily Joe came to pick us... I directed him to this busstop at Sims Ave.... got up the car..... then we went eat tou hua at Rochor.... and sent Phyllis n friend home... then home to shower and concuss!!!!!!!!!!

Work ......................!
Angry leh...
Bo pian, I need someone to join urgently... he gave me 2 candidates to interview today, a 31-yr old man vs a 36-yr old man... I chose the 31-yr old one coz he could start immediately... Not good-looking, and seemed like someone without ambitions... but wad to do? Bo pian mah!
Besides, I still have to handle my other staff in Customer Service... this newbie that my manager employed (a 21-yr old gal) gave me super duper problems . It's her 1st job and she's like so blur... cannot understand anything we say, and keeps asking silly questions! Vomit blood lor.. Then hor, she's working part-time in a KTV lounge, and comes in late at times.... my manager hor, really leh..... dunno why he choose her?? chio? young?? "sex wolf"!!!!!! Men!!!!!!!!!!
Some of the team leaders in my dept are starting to place bets on how long this gal will stay in the company..... hehe
Sometimes, I feel like a superwoman.... having to work in such surroundings, then still gotta go home cook dinner, do laundry (be like a housewife)... then go volunteer on Sats... then still have to be fun-loving and stay happy... worry-free... will someone understand what I'm going through? Am I too hard on myself? Maybe I should take a break...? A month? A year? ...........

Zpop
Last nite went Zpop with fellow volunteers at indoor stadium. Performance was alright, with Fish, Jeff, Halem and Jolin singing to a 9000 strong crowd... really admire this group of people sitting near us - they were standing up most of the time, cheering and waving their light sticks!! Wow!! Happening...
We were lucky enuf to "bump" into them up, close and personal when we went to visit the washroom aft the concert near the restaurants at waterfront.
Went Geylang for beancurd aft that, 5 was nice to take a cab down to meet up and share some juicy news with us... hehe for those who have not heard anyting yet, do try and join us next time!!
Today's activity was facilitated by 3.... we went to this Teochew restaurant recommended by 4.5 for dinner. Food was not bad, dessert was marvellous!! Yam paste... Mmmmm..........!
Nobody had any idea where to go after dat can! So we ended on the train back west... *sigh*
8 and I went kopibean at jp to chit chat.... hubby came n join us... n 5 oso came for a little while... he had just sent "bishan" home aft watching a play with her... good good... me so happy for him!! aft so long, aft so much dat had happened... really hoped the best for both of them.

Volunteers' Day Dinner
Food was fine, especially the yam paste at the end. Me skipped mushrooms/ veg and fried rice in lotus leaf coz I was full liao.... rest of the food was nice.... me love the herbal duck...... and steam sea bass......
It was really sweet that the HQ gave us a $300 voucher for rental of chalet.... woo wee!!
Some of us ended up at kbox clementi, singing from 12-3am...... tink we had a pretty good time there, especially when we sang a good mix of good and old songs...
Btw, Germany won 3-1 and got the 3rd placing... but, so????? Who cares?! Down the road, nobody rems that! Anyway, Murali wore Germany's Schweinsteiger jersey last nite.... this player actually contributed to all 3 goals last nite.... amazing hor?
Sindy called at 5am, to say that her mum and her are like stranded at the void deck coz her granny refused to open the door.... she needed to seek refuge...... asked them to come over and let her mum take a nap at my guest room... she had to work at 2pm today lor.... Sindy refused to sleep and sat there hearing Huimin, Jason and me chat abt nonsense n rubbish!! Haha
She finally couldn't make it and fell asleep ard 8, when the 2 of them left.... her mum n her left ard 10am aft getting in touch with granny. Haiz..... Not really sure wad happened coz she said her granny just suddenly hit the roof and started to rail at her, then told her that she was leaving for Msia and she can do wadever she wants...... me somehow feel that her granny did that to make her feel more affectionate and closer to her own mum.... dunno? I could still feel the drift between Sindy n her mum, though there was any open disagreements between them during a short chat in the room with them.
Maybe, me really can't help much, as an outsider...............................................................

Magic Tricks
As I was busy with doing the monthly claims (especially when we have 20+ volunteers now) I didn't really join in the activity. Attendance was good though, all the students turned up and our volunteers were among the regular and experienced ones..
The students learnt some tricks using paper and cutting.. Yiting took some photos (where are they??)
Aft that, we went for a short discussion at the usual place (kopitiam opp the centre) to talk abt our upcoming Jun camp. Me and Pui Chih will be sharing a station (giving us a chance to slack) hahaha.... but I think it'll be fun...
Alas! We're going to kelong next week ler... really looking forward to it. There'll be some "new faces" who have not been there before, like Kx, Jinghui, Wendy, Eric, Rong Hui, Rong Huang and Sindy etc...

Paper Making aka My Birthday!!
Yesterday's session was Yiqin's Paper Making. It was innovative and refreshing, though some students claimed they have done it before. We have to soak torn newspapers in a pail of water and then blend it in a grinder. Thereafter, a flour sieve is used to collect the newspapers and then flip onto a transparency to dry. We used at least 3 hair-dryers to help the students dry the paper. Most of them did it all by themselves, some with little help from the volunteers.
They had fun, but I'll appreciate it if they were less rowdy. Some of the students were running all around, and speaking loudly. I even heard some quarrelling. Told Simon and Richard off... and made them apologise to each other. Teamwork was very important and it was really nice to see some of them really helping out. Luckily they didn't protest when I got Jacky to get a broom and dustpan to sweep the floor after the session and Zhenhong and Richard to help clear up the place.
Oh, and I wana commend Weilun for his journal writing. He was the only one who actually asked me how to spell Recycle and Evaporated. Though he couldn't spell them, he had actually wanted to use them in his journal... Yiqin didn't even mentioned that this paper making is part of recycling, she only said using newspapers to make 'new' paper. Really impressive of him!!
Dinner was at Owen Seafood Restaurant at Turf City. I went to choose a $103 lobster with my sisters. The chef prepared the sashimi and stir-fried the head and legs with ginger and spring onions. Real cool. My dad paid for the dinner, which included an 8-course $128++ set dinner. Everything tasted great, except the Salted Egg Crabs, which tasted too eggy.. wished there're lesser salted eggs.. haha.
Reached home ard 8.30pm and was real tired. As I opened the door, unknowingly (didn't even realised that Joe passed me the keys which was not usual), standing behind the door were Murali and Crystal!! Goodness! They scared the hell out of me.... my heart nearly jumped out and stopped... Crystal was holding on to a candle-litted Elmo cake... very pretty... and Murali was singing happy birthday song. It was a marvellous surprise!! Least expected lor... Very sweet of them... or rather very sweet of Joe to prepare all these, he actually passed the house key to Murali last week when he came to pick me one evening from work... and the two of them arrived at my house, waited in the dark and then, when I opened the grille, they lighted the last candle! Omigosh...
We played mahjong thereafter, nothing much to do, after watching a movie on channel 62. As it was already 4+am, they decided to stay for the night. Ordered Mac breakfast and finished by 5.30am... by then, all of us were dead-beat liao... we climbed into bed... and I only woke up at noon to lunch that Joe bought.. :)

Music and Its Wonders
We went through some worksheets and got the students to listen and note what kind of music it was... it was interesting to know there're so many different types of music... maybe a little too chim for the students? They dun seem to catch it.
2nd part where they listen to some songs and fill in the blanks for missing lyrics was quite good. They were more relaxed, and some were trying hard to listen carefully and attempted at spelling many new words... hehe like listening comprehension.
On the whole, it was a good effort on Yiting's part and of coz, the other volunteers who were there and helped out...
It was raining quite bad, As Sindy brought her little sis Qiqi along, we made it a point to send the 2 girls home as well. It was so funny, especially when Qiqi feared Joe so much, she didn't want to go near him or board his van. I basically told her, if you don't go up the van, then we'll all leave her alone at the bus-stop and she had no choice but to go along. Haha
My thots: Heard some arguments between the 2 girls. They have a pretty complicated family background. And due to this, the sisters were brought up separately and not close to each other. It's very sad. Qiqi was saying that she has grandpa, dad, mum, sis and bro BUT Sindy doesn't. However, Sindy was very strong. She smsed me that she doesn't the love from her mum. She has lived with only her grandma for more than 10years, she has never felt the love of a mum or sis. It is really hard for her to accept it now. I understand how she feels. It takes alot to counsel her. I'll do my best for her. She said if she runs away from home one day, she come to my house. I wished that day will never come, but yet, if it happens, I'll rather she comes to me, than any other people I dun know. Thanks God that she smsed that she loves me and will only listen to me. At least, at this point of time, I know, that no matter what happens, she can depend on me, emotionally.
I pray for her. That all will go smoothly for her. It's a tough road for a young gal like her... only 14years old... being forced to mature like that.

A Comeback...
Haven't posted on my blog for months. Guys and gals, miss me eh??
Well, this time round, I've decided to set my theme to ABLE - Activities based learning experience. For those who know, it's my "part-time" job.. hehe my volunteering work at CDAC
Well, every week (hopefully) I'll update wad happened on the fateful Sat afternoon..
Ermmm, let's start with yesterday - we went to the long abandoned Haw Par Villa situated in Pasir Panjang (in case you didn't know). The figurines are old and the paint-work has fallen off quite abit. Left to survive in the sun and brave storms, nobody actually maintain them in any sense. Poor things!! The stroll uphill was tiring and steep... there were too many steps and very stressful for old people like me! Haha... The layout was confusing and the maps do not display all exhibits. Pretty disappointing... But, I enjoy reading the Virtues tableau and taking photos of all the huge figurines or status. The weather was fine (though a little too humid from the aftermath of the thunderstorm in the late morning) Students, however, were as hyper as ever, running up and down, with panting volunteers giving chase behind them! Worksheets were duly filled, though I may not have managed to let them learn what they need to. May consider holding half a session to go thru the answers and give teachings on values and virtues!! We left at 4.30pm and guess what, the rain started again... I'm really thankful to God for doing what he did - stopping the rain for that few hours while we were at Haw Par. I cannot imagine the trip with all the lightings and thunders.
Shall see ya next week. Cheers..................................!
