Besides the fact that the stoneham zoo is quite possibly the worst zoo I've ever been to, it was a great outing. The sun was out and we were with friends.
But seriously, the zoo was terrible. Poorly designed and few big animals. Lots of bats, birds and snakes...LAME. First and last time I will be going there.

Zoo trip
Three loves
Boxes, balls and looking out the window. You can catch him doing one of these three at least 90% of his waking hours.

Dr appointment
Connor had his one year old appointment today. Besides smashing his finger in a cabinet and getting three shots, things went great :) he came home and went right to his slide, bandaged up and everything.
He's 63rd percentile for weight (@22.5lbs) and 68th percentile for height (@30.5in). Pretty average kid and that's just fine with me.

Easter
I'm going to have to get my act together better when the little guy gets older, good thing for friends who do an Easter egg hunt for you.
Connor did fantastic. He had to fight off 20ish kids too. The older kids got to the eggs and cleared out all the candy before Connor got there, but that's perfect. Connor can eat an empty egg and I don't eat gross candy. Win win situation. He got frustrated reaching for the egg under the bush. The branches kept hitting his face and he kept growling, it was awesome. He even shared with his little friend, they were cute together.
He looks like such a big kid to me now. He's running around like a champ too. Loved going in the "woods" and kicking up dirt.

One year old!!
I can't believe this actually happened. I mean I know they get older and stuff but it's surreal he's actually one. Overall, went by fast, but when I look at days, it was long (familiar to the mission for sure).
Connor thinks he is a big kid now for sure. If I am feeding him baby food mush and we are eating at the same time...not gonna happen. Whatever he sees older kids doing, he's there. He will only walk down stairs, so he sticks out his hand for you to help him down.
Connor loves fruit, his definite food of choice. Strawberries and mandarin oranges are his favorite. He'll eat almost everything though, some things just need a little more encouragement than others. If we act like we are eating it, he's all in. Now if I can just get him to stop throwing his food when he doesn't want it...
Connor is still very, very social. A few times he'll wonder off, then come grab my leg if someone approaches, but that is rare and far between. Clark has been working nights, which means baby doesn't get to see him much. The last week, everytime he left in the afternoon, Connor would cry when the door shut. It was really sad.
He's a terrible sleeper, I don't know what to do about that. It's frustrating and where I have the least patience with him. He ends up in bed with us usually around 4 or 5am. He takes 2 naps, but usually cries for 20 minutes then sleeps for 30. About enough time for me to shower and get dressed and maybe do the dishes if I'm motivated :)
I love him so much and still look at him sometimes and say to myself, I can't believe he's real and is mine. Here's to the next year of fun!

Crossroads
Sometimes I look at Connor and think, how did this happen? How did I get to be so lucky to have him?
Then sometimes (usually in the wee hours of 4am) I think, why oh why. How did I get here?!
It's been a rough two weeks. Daddy on night shift is no fun. I can handle a week of a dead beat husband, but two is pushing it. I'm exhausted, yet can't sleep. Something about being here alone.
