Christmas Eve Party

Friday night we got together with some friends and did one of Clark's family traditions. Everyone brought their own favorite dish and we all shared. There were little kids everyone having a great old time. At the end, we decided to do some caroling. Piano, guitar, flute, and everyone singing. It was great fun and helped us all feel the spirit of Christmas.

Fun Wisconsin Weekend

Katie came from MN and I drove up from Chi-town to meet at Kj's place for a fun, fun weekend. We did lots of fun things: brewer tour, cirque de soleil, yummy food (made by katie of course), fun picture taking and good old chats. KJ is pregnent, so it was fun to see her little belly showing and all the house getting ready for the baby girl. Thanks for a great weekend friends!

WICKED!!

I finally saw Wicked and it was awesome! And what was even better is that we spent $50 TOTAL for both of us to sit 10th row center...pretty much amazing. Before every show, they have a drawing for front row tickets for $25/ticket cash only. We had been talking to one of our good friends who has gotten tickets 3x from this drawing. He taught us his technique of how to fold the paper and everything. I met up with Clark and his friend Andrew after work to put our names in the hat. There was about 100 or so people there, so we were a little nervous about the odds of getting our names drawn. They were getting towards the end when they drew Andrew's name, we were so excited. Andrew was so nice and allowed us to get the two tickets, what a good friend! We were waiting in line to buy the tickets but when we got to the front, the gal said, "um...we don't have anymore of the front row tickets. I don't know why they decided to give so many away tonight." After about 5 minutes she says, "you guys definitly lucked out, this is 10th row middle, way better than the seats you were going to have. The cost is $170/piece usually." We were in shock and so excited!! The show was in 2 hours, so we decided to walk around downtown and go see some Christmas lights. We felt bad that Andrew wasn't going to be able to go, but luckily for us we ran into a scalper outside. He sold Andrew a ticket for $40. We bought him dinner and called it an even trade.
Needless to say, the show was awesome. Glinda was really good at playing this stuck up, self centered blond, her personality fit perfect to the part. I was afraid there was going to be little kids around us who would sing all the songs (had a bad experience with High School Musical...oh my) but everyone was well behaved and only sang during intermission and after the show.

Clark & Andrew -- always seem to pose like they are a couple, it's a little weird sometimes. This tree was downtown at this little holiday market. We ate yummy apple pecan streudel and drank hot chocolate. It was FREEZING cold outside, but pretty fun since it was snowing outside. Clark and I went to this market last year and I saw these beenies that I really liked. Clark called his mom later that night and asked if she would make me one for Christmas. I still love it, thanks Kaye!

Family Home Evening

Clark and I try to have FHE every week (for those not of our faith, click here to know what FHE is all about). We decorated our tree a few weeks ago and read about Jesus Christ and this special time of year. It REALLY helped me get into the Christmas spirit. I hadn't been feeling it of lately, but the snow came and up went the decorations and helped me feel all warm inside and excited for this special time of year.
Our Christmas Tree is a little 'charlie brown like'. But it's perfect for our little apartment. (thanks Shannon for providing the lights and ornaments as a Christmas present last year)

Ringling Brother and Barnum Bailey Circus

AMAZING! I had never been to the circus before and it was in town the week of Thanksgiving at the United Center. We invited a couple of friends to go with us and off we went. As soon as you walked through the doors, it was awesome. Cotton candy, icies, candy apples...I felt like such a little kid. At times it was stimulation over load and a little overwhelming. There was WAY too much stuff going on, you didn't know where to look. But overall , 2 thumbs way up!!!

I don't think these girls had spines, seriously.

Love him so much!

Check out the Elephants!

the BEFORE and AFTER

Although we didn't eat this delicious TurDuckIn until 10pm, it was well worth the wait. It was SOOOO good, honestly. Everything was moist and yummy. Mostly I think because the duck was so fatty that it flavored everything else.

THANKGIVING

We hung around Chicago for Thanksgiving this year, and spent it with Clark's friends from medical school. Oh my was it a treat! Watching numerous guys trying to put everything together was hillarious (no stereotyping at all). His friends decided they were going to try a TurDuckIn this year. For those not familiar with the lingo: Turkey inside a Duck inside a Chicken. Clark and I were in charge of bringing the stuffing for the turkey. They told us we HAD to be there by 11:30am. So we rushed downtown to their apartment. We walk in to crazyness. The guys were trying to debone all the meats. Who knew this process ended up taking 6 hours! How many med students does is take to sew up a TurDuckIn? 2 turned into 3 and ended up with 5. The bird was HUGE!! My favorite is the medical gloves they were all equipmed with. Clark was in charge of the sewing (crazy to think that next year he'll be sewing up real people...scary)

UPDATE

I realized I haven't blogged in forever and it's because I HATE being at a computer all day. The last thing I want to do when I come home from work, is go right back to sitting at a computer. But as I was looking at everyone else's blogs, I realized I needed to blog about lots of fun things we've dong in Chicago, so here it goes.
