Family Reunion

Clark and I had a great time time in Georgia with my family. It was good to actually spend time hanging out and enoying everyone. The wedding was too crazy and busy to have some fun with the kids. Activities included water skiing, tubing, rock climbing, biking, hiking, swimming, circus tricks, geo caching (thanks to Brittlyn we won too!), putt putt, talent show, wii, movies, tennis (I won a free t-shirt for winning this competition), golf lessons (clark was so good at golf!), and probably a bunch of other things I can't remember right now. THANK YOU MOM AND DAD!! It was an excellent trip and so fun. Besides, we finally got the tan we had been looking for all summer. It was very hot and humid in Georgia.

Date Night to Chicago Fire

Another part of the wedding gift from my siblings was tickets to go see a Chicago Fire Soccer Game. The night was beautiful! Short sleeves all night. The Fire won too! We had 3rd row seats, it was awesome. The fan section is called section 8. We were right next to it. This whole section cheered and stood the whole game. There was even a conductor informing them of what cheers to do and dynamics. It was classic. Who knew soccer was that big in the states. (everyone around us was speaking spanish though)

Horrible Week

You might ask how that is possible; still in the honey moon phase of newly married life, 60-70 degree weather in Chicago. But let me tell you it got bad, and quickly. This post is probably going to be jumpy, but I'm just writing as I remember.

Last week, Clark and I were walking to the car. I was literally explaining to Clark about my awesome parking spot, thinking I was so sneaky. Clark goes to the driver side and guess what...lo and behold there's a ticket. Now you must be thinking, oh it's because I was parked illegally. But once again, you would be wrong. I got a ticket for not having a "Chicago City Sticker." What that is and why I have to have it, I'm still not sure. All I know is that it is a whopping $120 fine for NOT having it.

Next day is Sunday. We've been debating since we moved to this place whether we're going to pay for parking or not. The ticket the day before sealed the deal. Paying for parking it is. When we were coming home from church, we notice the office is open. Clark asks if we should talk to them now about parking, I said, "no, the bronco game is on. we can check later."

Monday morning Clark wakes up sick. Of course he had to get sick the week before his test. Clark's usually a trooper when it comes to being ill/hurt. But he did not look to good and felt pretty miserable. He couldn't take any time off though, he needed to study and go to class. And of course I couldn't not kiss him. Each day got worse and worse for him. no fun :-(

Work has been very stressful lately and not fun. I can't stand lazy people and those who waste time causing my job to be more complicated. This past week was the climax of bitterness and anger for my job. I think I texted Clark 5x a day that I was quitting my job.
I had a dentist appointment on Wednesday, so I drove to work. Coming home, the great search for parking began again. In my mind I thought, it doesn't matter where I park. Street cleaning was last week.
Thursday morning, after my alarm went off, I was lying in bed debating about if I was going to bike or drive to work. When I have this mental debate, the car usually ends up wining. But I thought 'winter is coming soon and I won't be able to bike for much longer and I need to get some exercise. Just bike, it's not that big of a deal and you'll feel better.' Well, it was FREZZING outside and not that fun of a bike ride. And to make it better, work that day was awful. I literally walked out and had to get some fresh air before I screamed. Why don't people just do their job, really it's simple...
I rode as quickly as possible to get home, I was pretty angry and upset about how the day went. When I road past my lovely car, I see something orange on my window. Of course it was A TICKET. This time for street cleaning, a whopping $50. Street cleaning in our neighborhood is the 2nd thursday and friday of the month. I find out October started on Friday this month, making the 2nd Thursday fall on a different week. Grrrr....just wrapped up a great day. Another thing that could have been avoided had I driven to work and not biked and went to the office when it was open. The corrupted city of Chicago has not robbed Clark and I of $170 in one week.
It's now Monday and I am feeling terrible, same symtoms Clark was feeling last week. Clark kindly told me this morning, 'oh don't worry hunny, it will get worse.' Great...work better be better and I'm driving everyday. I can't afford anymore tickets.
