October 2013-- I feel like a Zombie

One day two weeks ago we were getting ready to move and doing this:

The next day we were being called by Emmett's teacher saying that his wheelchair rolled off a curb and he hit his face on the asphalt.  He broke his nose and has some loose teeth.  Saddest day of our lives.  No fair.

This boy is so tough.  We had him laughing on the way to the Dr.

Then we moved into our new house

Now we are enjoying this beautiful place, amazing views and elbow room.
 Hoo-flippin'-ray!

And little Dean is feeling much better.  A snaggle tooth can be endearing.

Have Guitars. Will Play.

Our baby turned 8 last month.  It's just a shame that we all have to get older.  He eagerly entered the waters of baptism, became a Cub Scout (had his Bobcat before I could say "Do your best!"), and has become magically more responsible and obedient.  He will also be gaining a new set of eyes this week as we've ordered him a pair of glasses.  Weird.  Seems just yesterday (or a few weeks ago anyway) we were changing his diapers and wiping his sticky fingers.  Now he can do all that on his own.  Even the diaper.  I  know, we have talented kids.  But seriously we're so super proud of our boy and who he is becoming.

(He was such a little rebel before he was baptized.  I mean....)

One of Josh's improvised solos at his guitar class' concert: (it starts at 0:35)

I caught Jonah sitting on the bottom bunk singing and playing the guitar one day.  Out of nowhere.  Melted my heart.

I Made Emmett

Jonah busted into my room this morning saying, "look!  I made Emmett."

As cute as this Lego guy is, nothing replaces the real Emmett.  Here is the "cloak" Sharalen made for him this winter to keep him warm in his chair and so his teachers and I wouldn't have to wrestle a coat on and off of him.  She and Daunell designed a prototype and then we (and by "we" I mean Sharalen--I was there for moral support) tweaked it a bit and made this one.  It has kept him warm on the walk to and from the bus lo these many cold and blustery winter days.  What sweet and talented cousins I have!

Baby Turns 7

Baby Jones.             He turned 7 today:

He smiled and looked so happy even after being sick for one whole week.

He let Emmett try out his birthday present.

And left this fine drawing on the fridge tonight.

I guess it's time for Momma to say...
Bye Bye, Baby.

Moving On

It only took me 5 minutes to get sick of looking at my last post.  There is so much beauty in the world, why go another minutes looking at THAT!?
This day is gorgeous!

One more thing though.  For Halloween I got all my dress-ups out, which consist of some red polyester bellbottoms with a matching vest with white and red diamonds on it and a pair of nasty yellow wedges.  And a dress that my mom wore in the 70's with matching red shoes (which is actually a pretty cute little outfit).  I tried on both outfits but didn't get the response I had anticipated from my kids (it sort of runs in the family).    Seventy's clothes aren't the hilarious joke they were in the 80's and 90's.   I just hope polyester pants never come back.  Bum dimple city!

Remember this dress, Mom?  It was probably never this wrinkly when it was in your closet.  (I don't know how you wore these shoes.  They're cute, but -- ouch!)

And these are the "brains & spider" cupcakes we made for Halloween.  I made them so the older boys would have something to take to their parties.  I found out Spencer is too cool to take cupcakes.
