{1} Tell us about your daily routine.
On a normal day I'll check Facebook to see what my friends are doing in the morning. Then I usually talk to Sheila on instant messenger until she goes home from work. At night I'll watch sports or a movie. I've been watering my garden and playing basketball in the mornings lately as well.

{2} What is your favorite place in your home to relax?
I have a brown chair in my back room that I like to relax or read a book in.

{3} Your choice for a Summer cool treat...popsicle or Ice Cream?
Ice cream

{4} If someone saw this room in my house today I would likely die of embarrassment.
I probably wouldn't die of embarrassment if someone saw the rooms in my home today.

The Cat Whisperer?

During the last few weeks I've been volunteering to help at the Animal Humane Association of Star Valley. It's been nice to feel more useful lately and a good experience for me so far...

Giving an orange cat some food and playing with the cat for awhile.
This cat's hair was so tangled that it had be shaved when it was brought in.

I think my friends list is the best feature of my blog. I also like the music playlist at the bottom of my blog.

{3} What is your favorite post so far this year?
The "People Who Have Inspired Me" posts that I've done.  I thought it would be a good idea to recognize some of the people in my life that have helped me quite a bit.

{4} What is one thing you would change about your blog?
It would be nice if some of my blog posts were much more interesting to read, but my life can be very dull sometimes. So it is what it is.

We Want to Know Wednesday: Mother's Day Edition

(1) What would be your ideal way to spend Mother's day?
It's still a challenge to be in a good mood on Mother's Day, because it reminds me that my mom died.

 (2) Would you rather give an actual gifts or gifts of service?
It seems like usually when I try to be helpful it somehow turns out to be more disruptive than helpful anymore. So maybe I should just go with an actual gift.

(3)  What do you think the best you've ever given your mom is?
One year I went on the four wheeler and picked some flowers for my mom. Neither of my moms have ever told me that they didn't like a gift I've given them.

(4) Share one of favorite memories with your mom?
I'd have to say that my favorite memory with both of my moms has been talking to them about how much my closest friends have meant to me.

We Want to Know Wednesday: Week 31

(1) What do you like about this time of year?
It's fun to be able to play basketball outside or go on four wheeler rides in the Spring.  I like that it's not too cold, but not too warm yet either.

(2) What TV show do you always stop to watch?
M*A*S*H

(3) What do you miss most about being a kid?
I miss being able to help my friends consistently and feeling like I'm more useful to people.

(4) Which family member would you be the most comfortable going to for advice about a personal problem?
Sheila. My parents rarely seem to understand where I'm coming from.

People Who Have Inspired Me: Teddy

When I initially met Teddy I admittedly would have given almost anything to be someone who seemed much more impressive to her than a teenage disabled boy.   I was nervous about talking to her, because I had difficulty trusting that I was nearly good enough to be her friend and I assumed that she already had several better friends to spend time with than me which was very intimidating.  I had usually been able to make new friends easily, but it still motivates me to be more outgoing and friendly to people when I remember how much it bothered me to think that Teddy probably never would want to have anything to do with me.  I certainly wasn't expecting Teddy to go out of her way to be as kind to me as she has been. I'm very grateful that just by being kind to me, and building me up, she brought out a lot of untapped potential in me that I didn't know I had.

The first time that I complimented Teddy on how well she could sing I remember her response was that she could sing a little.  I don't think that Teddy intended that to be a meaningful statement, but that comment made me become more focused on trying to figure out how to use whatever skills, talents and abilities I had to make the world a little better place like she does.  Growing up I wanted to play professional basketball some day more than anything and be able to help a significant amount of people with the millions of dollars I was planning to earn from playing a sport that I enjoy.  So I'll always appreciate that the process of trying to become Teddy's friend allowed me to understand that I'd still have something to offer whether I ever played basketball again or not. It's also been good for me to realize that I'll still be eager to have Teddy as a friend when she can't sing as well as she does now, because aside from that she's a wonderful person that I've gained a lot of respect for since I've known her.

Teddy's been a very inspiring person in my life. Our friendship has gone a long way toward helping me to become who I've actually needed to be so far and has been very beneficial to me.  I appreciate that Teddy has been willing to be so kind to me especially during the times that I've struggled the most.   My friendship with Teddy has made a very positive difference in my life and it's been fun for me to see how life has worked out since we became friends.
