We Want to Know Wednesday: Week 30

{1} What was the highlight of the month so far?
My amazing friends posted some nice messages online about me on my birthday.

{2} What is your favorite go to breakfast  for a special occasion?
I like to have waffles for breakfast on my birthday.

{3} What is your policy for kids that don't want to eat what you are serving?
I’ve never had a kid eat what I’ve cooked so I haven’t developed a policy on that yet. I’m not the best cook so it probably wouldn’t hurt my feelings if someone thought it was a bad meal.

{4 } What song reminds you of the first person you loved?

We Want to Know Wednesday: Week 29

(1)If you had to be trapped in a TV show for a month, which show would you choose?
I’ll go with Seinfeld.  I think M*A*S*H would have an environment that was too depressing to be stuck in for even a month.

(2) If you could be guaranteed one thing in life besides money, what would you ask for?
Health.

(3) How have you changed in the last 10 years?
I'm less idealistic and more realistic than I was a decade ago.

(4) If you could possess one supernatural ability, what would it be?

Invincibility.

We Want to Know Wednesday: Birthday Edition

{1} What is your favorite way to celebrate birthdays?
It'd be fun to go to a Utah Jazz game on my birthday if they were better this season.

{2} What do you want your legacy to be?
I feel like I'm too young to be thinking about my legacy yet. However, if I died tomorrow ideally I'd want it to be said that I was genuinely good person who was a supportive friend.

{3} Which is more fun to celebrate? Celebrating yours or your loved ones?
I was born on my mom's birthday and it'll probably always be her birthday as far as I'm concerned. I'd definitely much rather be celebrating what would have been her 60th birthday than my own this year and I still tend to miss her way too much sometimes.

{4} Tell us about your best birthday you've ever had.
Last year was the best birthday I've had so far. I think what I'm the most pleased with is the high caliber of friends that I've been able to have in my life so far.

We Want to Know Wednesday: Week 27

{1} What is something that you currently spend money on that you consider a splurge or frivolous?
Netflix

{2} Tell us about your first paying job. How old were you?
Sheila and I did a lemonade stand when we were kids. I think we earned about 50 cents, but being able to spend time getting to know my sister better was a lot of fun.
{3} Do you plan extra expenses into a monthly budget?
Life can be unexpected.  So I think it is important to account for that in a budget and I usually try to allow for some extra expenses.

{4} Share one of your money saving tips with us.
For me a good money saving tip is to not go in a store with any music or sports related items, because if I do I'll be tempted to spend money on things I want but don't need.

{5} If you won the lottery what would spend it on?
It'd be nice to be able to give Sheila and my closest friends a lot of money for their kindness to me even though I'm sure that they don't expect me to or probably wouldn't accept it.

People Who Have Inspired Me: Kim

I'm excited about the opportunity I have this month to write about one of the most inspiring people I've ever met who I've been fortunate enough to consider as one of my closest friends for quite awhile now Kim.  Kim grew up in the same small Wyoming town of Smoot as my mom did.  When I was about 10 years old I traveled the short distance to Smoot to visit my Grandpa and Grandma Schwab on Father's Day.  I'm not exactly sure how it came up in a conversation but I remember my grandma mentioning to my mom and I that "the girls from Smoot are sure doing some amazing things."  At the time that remark from my grandma actually bothered me quite a bit because my extraordinary friends Betsy and Camie obviously had to be the best people in the world.  So I just assumed that I'd never meet someone nearly as incredible as them again.

However, Kim's been a better friend than I could have asked for in my life.  Originally it impressed me that Kim was willing to be extremely kind and generous to me even when she didn't know me very well and remembering that still inspires me to try to be that exceptional of a person.  Kim has done so many nice things for me that no one would ever know about unless I mention it and she also has always had a quiet dignity about her that I continue to respect.  Kim has been a very supportive, true friend to me and her kindness has helped me get through some of the most difficult times in my life.

As her friend it's been very enjoyable for me to still be able to see online some of the impressive things that Kim does with the numerous talents that she's developed. It's been very inspiring for me to see how selfless Kim is and how much she seems to enjoy helping people.  Kim's always been very perceptive about finding specific ways to help me that has made my life so much easier and she also has a unique ability to make everyone that's around her better.  I know that her kindness to me will probably always remain underappreciated, but it definitely hasn't gone unnoticed.

I certainly hope that Kim will have as much success and happiness in her life as she possibly can and especially that she'll be able to continue to live her dream of being a writer, because that could inspire other people to live their dreams or to make a positive difference in the world like Kim does.  I do sincerely appreciate the significant positive impact and influence that her simple acts of kindness have had on my life.  I would hope that we will remain friends forever because Kim continues to be a very extraordinary, and inspiring, person.
