New Blog!

So after struggling with my blog for months now, and lack of posts because of my frustration. I have decided to startup a new blog. Already, it is working ALOT better! This blog will not let me put a picture in my header, and for a long time I thought it was probably because I was computer challenged...but not true according to my new blog. I just posted about my family's trip to Hawaii so check it out at our new blog sjlucasfam.blogspot.com

Happy Birthday Hailey!

I need to give a belated birthday shoutout to my little sis. On Thursday she turned 24! We love Hailey so much, she is a great little sister and always easy to talk to! She is a wonderful fifth grade teacher whose students love her! She is such a great aunt to Easton and her neices so I know she'll be the best mom one day! She is also so dang beautiful, sometimes I can't believe her and I are sisters!?! Hope you had a great day and a wonderful family dinner, sorry we couldn't be there :-( Love ya!

easton update....16 1/2 months old

I have been a horrible blogger lately, because truth is my life isn't all that interesting lately. I figured I do need to post an update on Easton....because he has been growing up so much and if I don't document it for myself, I'll regret it later....so here is all the funny things he's been up to lately. he LOVES loves to be outside. It is a struggle to get him inside once we have been out, he definitely does not go down without a fight. I usually force him in kicking and screaming. He now goes to the door all the time and says 'side mama'. Let's just say I'll be so happy when it gets a little warmer. I can say this fenced backyard I was dying to have has come in quite handy, I can just watch him in the yard from the kitchen window. Here are some pics of him playing outside.
doesn't he look so cute in his little hat and gloves set?
exploring the backyard
cousins Taylor and Peyton came to play in the yard with him.
he loves to get shannon's hats and put them on
this day we were at my parents house and it was -4 degrees outside. I let him play outside for ten minutes and he was so mad when I pulled him back in, so here he is crying after I made him come back in. I'm such a mean mom!
Anyways, other than his love for the outside. he has been talking quite a bit lately, mostly just jibberish but lately he has been saying more words I can actually understand (but probably no one else can) He has been saying 'baby' ALOT, I hope he isn't trying to send me a signal :-) he also goes around saying 'what?' all the time. he likes to say 'hi & hey' alot and when you see him you could get either one. when I show him pictures of himself I always say 'who's that' to which he replies 'easty', well as of today he went up to the picture and said 'who's that?' pretty funny. he loves talking on the phone and requests to speak to anyone I'm talking to, usually that person will get a big 'hi' and then lots of jibberish. I've been going to the gym close to every day recently and all the ladies there always comment on how cuddly he is. Easton has really never been afraid of strangers, of course he is attached to his mom and dad but he will totally cuddle with any total stranger. I guess I need to teach him stranger danger eventually. :-) but for now I like how friendly he is. In the doctor's office this last week he walked up to a girl standing in line to check in and held his arms up to her. she kind of laughed and picked him up. too funny. he did the same thing to the doctor and has been doing it to random people ever since. He LOVES to dance and does a really cute hip shake and head nod, I tried to upload the video, but it is having problems for some reason. He has just barely learned to crawl up the stairs and hasn't figured out how to get down yet. I know most kids master this at a way earlier age. But for a kid who never crawled, I figured it might take him a while, so that is something we are working on. He LOVES to walk around un-assisted and when I grab his hand he gets really mad!!!
Anyways, we just enjoy him so much everyday and love to watch him grow and do funny new things! I'm lovin this age!

Bug Tag

My sister Angie tagged me on a list of ten things that bug me. I've been really bad at updating my blog lately...so thanks for giving me something to blog about...

1. Mullets & girls with black hair that have pure blonde regrowth all the way to their shoulders. Either go back to your natural hair color or keep up the blonde...and just so no one is offended I'm not talking about just highlights, I'm talking about pure dark on top and pure blonde on bottom. I'm a hairdresser so I probably notice these things more than others...

2. Utah drivers. Although since living in Utah, I've realized you have to become one of them or else you'll never get into the lane you want, no one here is a nice driver...so as much as I'm bugged I'm pretty sure I'm becoming one.

3. When the same # calls my cell a couple times and doesn't leave a message. If you are calling that many times it must be for a reason, leave a message!

4. Easton's cry. I love my child more than anything, but for those of you who have heard him scream...you know what I'm talking about. the boy has a quite a set of lungs. even when I'm downstairs, monitor turned off. i can steal clearly hear him cry. every single time he cries it sounds like a cry you would hear from a kid who just fell down the stairs.

5. People who don't discipline their children. It is one of your jobs as a parent!

6. It bugs me that I'm so forgetful. It makes me wonder what life will be like when I'm old, if I can't remember day-to-day things now! Yikes!

7. Unloading the dishwasher, don't mind loading. HATE unloading.

8. Un-compassionate & mean people.

9. That my husband is cleaner than me. (I know everyone is saying 'what, that bugs you?' but honestly the woman is supposed to be cleaner than the man, so I'm ashamed I'm not) but in my defense he is crazy clean.

10. That Easton's hair grows so dang fast! I would probably be really excited if I had a little girl and her hair did that....but for a little boy who screams the whole haircut it's not fun. I would do a shaggy look but he has so many cowlicks I don't think it would work long, so every 6 weeks or less it's back to the chair.

I now tag anyone who is feeling at all bugged!

Happy Birthday Shannon, Marc, & Grandpa

(If anyone was wondering, this is not the updated revamped blog I was hoping for. I spent hours trying to do a scrapbook page into the header and it will NOT work! Even my husband who has a minor in Computer Science tried to figure it out and cannot, so I am stumped...and may have to move my blog to a new address..one that will accept a header! I need a blogging expert to come in and help me...any tips would be greatly appreciated)

So really this is a birthday post, I honestly feel pretty bad that I am now just barely posting a birthday post to my hubby. My sisters all posted wonderful birthday messages for Shannon on their blogs on his actual birthday, and I am ashamed that has wife is doing it almost a week later. I explained it's just because I'm so frustrated with my blog, and I'm pretty sure he understands...he knows he married a procrastinator...he's lived with it almost six years now.

So Shannon had his 28th birthday on Sunday, and he is probably happy he gets one day a year where I will make my love for him known on the internet. It's just not really me. But on this one day I will gush about him. I'm really so grateful for him. He is a wonderful husband who treats me great and amazing father to Easton. He is such a hard worker and a wonderful provider. I'm so happy he makes it so I can stay at home with Easton but also supports me in my crazy business endeavors (driving to Idaho to do hair every 3 weeks)! He is always so helpful around the house and we probably have one of those rare cases where the husband is cleaner than the wife...he is way cleaner than me! Happy birthday sweetie, I'm glad you married me and agreed to put up with my craziness!
On Tuesday my brother-in-law Marc (married to my little sis Hailey) turned 24. He is a great guy to be around and lots of fun to joke with. We are so happy he is a part of our family! I am secretly jealous he can easily beat me at all the games on the Wii Fit! We love ya!
Yesterday my Grandpa Wahlen turned 88 years old. He is such a wonderful man and has always been a huge part of my life. In highschool he always attended my games, plays, etc...and has done the same for all his grandchildren. He has over 30 grandchildren and lots of great-grandchildren but at his age still keeps up with us all and knows what is going on in all of our lives. He is also famous for saying some of the funniest one-liners you'll ever hear. We love you grandpa, thanks for all you do!

Ringing in 2009!

For New Year's Eve we got invited to go hang out with some friends we've made here in Clinton. We started out the evening with lots of wonderful appetizers, some pretty entertaining games, watching the ball drop, and more games! We laughed so hard all night, it was a great new years! It was a pretty hard recovery though, Easton came with us and stayed up till 2 am with us, he then woke up at 8 am the next morning. Luckily, we were both home the next day to take nap shifts! Thanks to the Andersons for hosting the party!
