Liam's Birth Story
Oh wow!! My sister completely took over my blog!! I kinda feel like I am invading HER privacy lol.
I hope yall enjoyed reading Liam's birth story from Mannys perspective, I know I did! Espesh cuz some details I would have left out... You know, the part where I had a major FREAK out with my midwife & my nurse. People jus won't stop talking about it and you know me, I hate attention and embarrassing moments hehe. Man! I was jus so stressed! For hours and hours AND hours Liam was stressed and his heartbeat was low with every contraction so I was very worried. I asked many times if a c-section would jus be the answer since it didn't seem like he was going down naturally. But, no they wanted to try different things, different positions, so I finally threw in the towel and had a panic attack and added a lil curse word to the mix. Ok, fine, it's a HUGE curse word. But at least I got my point across ;)
Oh! And it didn't help that I was in so much pain. I guess everyone was right: I CAN'T handle pain very well. I basically NEEDED that epidural as soon as I walked into the hospital. So much for going "natural" Ha! At least, I figured that part out a month ago. Oh gosh, the things we say and do.
So, how was my very first birthing experience? Let's jus say it's my last!! Lol. It was jus soo long and so overwhelming. I don't really remember specifics details cuz of all the drugs I asked for, so it's great that Manny got to document it all. I'm definitely gonna treasure it forever. The only details she missed was when I had to push. Cuz she wasn't there in the O.R. It was jus Billy and I... oh and like 10 other people. So here goes..., to the best of my knowledge:
As they rushed me to O.R. #1, I screamed for my mom to come and was surprised to see Billy in the room. But whatever as long as someone was there. They told me that they may need to move me to the operation table. I am completely out of it so all I really notice is all the people getting everything ready and getting me all prepped up. I seriously think they are gonna do a c-section but then I hear someone say that Liam isn't quite stressed out anymore so they tell me that we are gonna try to push him out and see how it goes. Since I was so hopped on drugs I didn't feel any pain! ZERO pain!! It was amazing!! Shannon (cute lil nurse) would check my belly for a contraction and then everyone would tell me to push. I remember looking at the clock at 1:45 and thinking how long will this take?? How long will I have to push for?? After a couple a tries, I realize how exhausted I was. I seriously kept giving up. They offered me a mirror and at first I declined. Heck no! def dont wanna see what's going on down there LOL. Then halfway through the pushing and the giving up, I started to get super nauseous from the oxygen they were providing me. So, I threw up. BUT turns out it was helping push out lil Liam. What are the odds?? I started to push again and again and again and I jus didn't feel like I was getting anywhere even with everyone around cheering me on. I thought about the mirror and asked for it. They set it all up and I was in business!! Popped that baby out like 10-15 mins later. I totally am a visual learner LOL.
And he sure is a cutie!! So it was all totally worth it!!

Part 14: Goodbye
so this is my last blog..i know i know im sad to say goodbye too. it was a lot of fun.
well bye!
jk, no i have lots to say!
so i found myself saying yesterday, oh mom i need to update my blog! ohh...i mean shahnys blog. ha it made me laugh. but it was such a great experience to be here with my beautiful sister! today was good for her too, i needed to leave though to go to school in the afternoon, i only went to one class and thought, "screw this, i need to be at the hopital!"
lots of visitors today! and thanx everyone who came! **when you come to the hospital, dont forget to sign shahnys cute little scrapbook page! so liam is a great baby. healthy, and not much of a cryer at all. shahny is looking great too! mom did her make up, and emily did her hair. tomorrow tho.....i'll have her all to my self..kinda..and i can do it this time(: ha im somewhat of an expert;) anywho the only thing is that shahnys cooka kinda hurts..sorry if thats too much information..haha just want you to know how she is doing. well my mom needs to leave and im using her laptop, so i must say my goodbyes. thanx everyone for the comments and follows! made me feel very special! love you all!
and dont forget to come visit! it'll be super worth it!

Part 13: sleepy
So both Shahny and baby are so very tired! We appreciate all of you for your thoughts and concerns. But now they will nap. So If we can ask that we let them sleep until noonish before getting any visits it would help a lot. Thanx everyone! Text me for details!

Part 12: finally(:
Well, the time has come that we are all settled down now with baby liam. we have now been moved and are waiting for shahny and liam to get cleaned up so she can feed him.
baby Liam is so perfect he doesnt really cry, the only time he cried was when we had to unwrap him to check his diaper. he is so cute everyone. he has a gorgeous little nose! and his eyes look like a grayish blue. we'll see if that lasts. his eyes have been open though since the moment i saw him. hes super awake(: Shahny can sure make a beautiful baby!
so lets recap...
shahny went in for a possible cesarian, but turned out she didnt need to! she gave birth vaginally, but of course not naturally. i still think shes crazy for thinking she could do it...but kudos to you shahn for hoping(: she started pushing around 1:49, and he was born at 2:36. she is such a trooper she did a great job! after coming back, she was so cold and asked me to hug her to get some body heat going on, so i did. it made me tear up(: i love my sister so much! she is so brave and so strong and determined and humble and everything good in life! ha, even if she disagrees with me. but im so proud of her! shes going to be such a great mom. the nurse downstairs cant come up here with us, but shannon was so great! one of the best nurses around! kinda sad to say goodbye to her! but we have some new ones that im sure are going to be great as well! here are some pics! (dang, im feeling like hes famous with all the pictures getting taken) but right now liam is getting his little patitas (feet) and hands stamped on shahnys cute little scrap book page she made! i'll take a pic of it and post it on this same blog. well guys, i suppose breakfast will be brought up here in a minute, ha and she hasnt even slept yet. poor sister.

Part 10: BIG NEWS!
Latest update is a big one.
Little old me fell asleep for a little:/ but when I woke up I guess I missed a lot.
The baby came!
HA! Jk! Not yet!
So all of a sudden shahny went from a 4+ to a 9! But her contractions were like super bad! So they rushed her to a possible c-section, because the baby's heart beat went really low, so they took her out. But lets back up, in the process, they told shahny to endure an hour to see where is it she can dilate to, so at first she was fine with it, but then she could only last about 40 minutes! So shes crying and stressed and scared and hurting and its too much so in the words of my sister, she screamed, "GET THIS BABY OUT! WHY ISNT ANYONE F****** LISTENING TO ME!!" it made me want to cry and laugh at the same time! so i had this knot in my throat, it made me sad to see her like this but we cant show weakness, she needs positive! But what I can't be sure of is that I think I saw billy getting teary eyed there;) don't tell him I said that! So anywho we needed to calm her down a little, and the only thing that popped in my mind were these words:
"Be still my soul, the lord is on thy side. With patience bear they cross of grief or pain. Leave to thy god, to order and provide, in every change he faithful will remain. Be still my soul, thy best, thy heavenly friend thru thorny ways leads to a joyful end."
But it's not like I coulda told everyone to shut up and listen to me sing! So I sang it over and over in my head, and I think it kinda helped:) well of course id like to think it helped. So anywho they took her and she could only have one person, and she couldn't choose so my mom told billy to go. So I hope he is doing good. And we just got word that baby's heartbeat is back up and is doing really good. That shahny has calmed down a whole lot and billy is good too. So All we do now is wait.. I shall let you know how everything goes

chris and cassie because they are watching shaedon, our little brother, for us on such a short notice! and we all know how much of a handful he can be! ha
and thanx mike and kjera because they are watching nala for us!
i guess we didnt really plan it very well, cause no one was home to let nala out. so thanx mike and kjera for helping out in that area!
and then a personal thank you, because you are letting me borrow some necessities i didnt even think about bringing, as in...blanket, sweats, and a toothbrush! so thanx again(:
also thanx everyone who has been wishing her the best, and for all your concerns and thoughts and prayers. it really does help! im the type to try and say thanks for anything and everythng! so things are quiet. and we are all starting to get a little tired. the nurse says this will moslty like be an all night thing. both shahny and baby are doing good. although after eating some ice chips it made her throw up,, pobrecita:/but i would like to say thanx to kjera and mike! and chris and cassie!

Part 8: That feeling....
so......that was intense.
have you ever had the feeling that the walls are closing in? yea that just happened to me,, i mean ive always considered myself pretty strong but man this kinda got me worried.
there i was enjoying a nice ben & jerrys ice cream when all of a sudden everything changed. shahny needed to get in a whole bunch of different positions and out of no where there was like 6 people in here; doctors, nurses, midwives, the whole enchilada. they said shes dialated at a 4 now. apparently liam does not like labor. he has too much stress on him and everytime shahn has a contraction liams heartbeat goes down. so they were repositioning him and trying to calm him down, but it kinda freaked shahny out with all these people here, heck i almost passed out! they had to stop the contractions to ease off some of the stress on him. so overall, its looking like she might need to have a c-section. like mother like daughter. they are going to check him 2 more times, trying potossin to make her contractions stronger again, but if he just cant do it. they will go for a c-section. it wasnt just liam who was under a lot of stress, shahny was pretty emotional and it made her stressed to. but with another shot of her epidural and a blessing from my dad shes calmed down a lot. shes fine now, and so is baby liam. they are both doing great, but in a little bit, their calmness will have to end

Part 7: sPiCiNg IT uP!!(:

Part 6: bored
well here we are waiting 10 more minutes until its 6:30 when they said they would check her again. ive resulted to eating, reading, facebooking, and taking some funny pictures of myself. and i now will show you what happens when i am waiting for my nephew to come out!!! haha but FIRST quick update....the baby is a stubborn one, he only can be in one spot and it happens to be a spot that shahn cant necessarily sleep in. haha but they have to keep moving her because for some contractions she is getting the cord gets kinda pinched so they need to watch his heartbeat. so any moment now i will post a blog about the next milestone and explain what will happen next(:

Part 5: Slowing Down
Well technically her contractions are not slowing down but she just can't feel it. So things are just quiet now. Except she's feeling a little nauseated now so she's getting some medicine for that. Other than that she seems to be fine and she's getting kinda tired. A little bit after they gave her the epidural they checked her cervix and she was at a 2 1/2 so we still have a bit to go since they say they wont check her until 6:30. Good thing we are all here to keep each other company, me mom dad and billy:)

The narcotics didn't last long at all! So she wanted the epidural...and she wanted it now!
Words can't explain how painful that probably was for her.

The anesthesiologist, Dr. Myers did a great job. Kudos to him! So now shahny is feeling a lot better and I feel so relieved for her! Part 3: mmm.....Drugs:)
So here we are at the hospital. And mom has already started taking pictures. The contractions were getting really bad so the nurse Corene, gave her 50 micrograms of some sort of narcotic named fentanyl. When shanzer said, "I feel a little loopy" ha! that's when I knew it was time for another blog update.
Part 2: breathe in...breathe out
So after shahny threw up from the unbearable pain we decided, screw what they say, the baby is ready to come out already! so we get everything ready and we take off to the hospital. Entering the hospital, the front desk receptionist, dawnetta, was very helpful on helping to deal with shahn's really big contractions. Breathe in, breathe out. That seems to be what everyone is saying around her. The nurse, Corene just came in. We'll see what happens next.
Part 1: Contractions
It was 9:30 and shahny's contractions started. This is mandze by the way, her amazing sister;) ill be keeping it updated for her! with every passing minute they've gotten stronger and stronger. So she called the midwife and she said that shahny cant come in yet because "obviously they aren't that strong enough seeing as how you are talking to me on the phone right now." ARE YOU SERIOUS? What she didn't know was that shahny was previously kneeling on the ground next to the bed with some strong contractions. Which is exactly why she called in the first place. Anyways okay fine, so we won't come in, but then she said "I recommend drinking some more water." shahny didnt know if she was more annoyed at the fact that she couldn't come in, or that she said more water. All she ever does is drink water! "hey shahn what ya doin?" "oh not much just drinking my water!" so after she got off the phone we started timing them on this cool app she has. (yess, there is an app for everything) and they have been pretty strong. So strong that I just want to drive her to the hospital already! But no, for some reason she says not yet.

Due Date
Here I am, 40.857 weeks and still pregnant. My due date has come and gone. I seriously thought I'd deliver before my due date since I was carrying him so low. But at my last appt, the midwife said I'm not dilated so they wanted to give baby some more time - except my momma said she never dilated and thats why she got a c-section with all of us. It's probably hereditary... So pretty sure he's not coming out on his own!!
They shall be giving me some medication on Sunday to help dilate me and then Monday I'll be induced. My baby's gonna be here soon!! Ahh I'm so excited and nervous and frankly jus can't wait!!
They shall be giving me some medication on Sunday to help dilate me and then Monday I'll be induced. My baby's gonna be here soon!! Ahh I'm so excited and nervous and frankly jus can't wait!!

36 Weeks
Happy, Happy New Year!! Can you believe it? A whole year has come and go. I honestly think it went by SOO fast! So crazy how fast time goes by.
I am excited, nervous, scared, happy, and so many more emotions for this upcoming year. It's no doubt that 2012 will bring my greatest blessing ever: In 4 weeks (-ish), I will finally be able to hold, kiss, hug, and squeeze my lil baby. After months of nurturing this lil guy, he will finally be in my arms and he will be ALL mine and I seriously cannot wait! Espesh because all the restless night, morning sickness, body aching, emotional (hormone) roller coaster will be ALL worth it when my lil baby is here.
