Summer Fun "Guest Designer" Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!

Today is the eleventh week of my summer guest designer series. This week's guest designer is my super talented friend, Jin! Her wonderful blog is called Under a Cherry Tree.

Hi Everyone, I'm Jin from Under A Cherry Tree and I am so thrilled that Ruthie has asked me to be today's guest designer for her blog. (Thanks, Ruthie!) As this is her Summer "Guest Designer" Series, I was asked to do a Summer-themed project. To me, Summer starts when my kids get out of school and it ends when they go back. My girls go back to school in 3 weeks and so even though the last day of Summer isn't until the 23rd (or 22nd?) of September, I am already feeling that the season is coming to an end.

Today's card reflects how I feel about Summer. I used images from the Lettering Delights' Soak Up the Sun SVG and their Vacation Cut It sets with Make-the-Cut program. I also used the LD Cursive and the LD Big Kahuna fonts for the sentiment. By the way, the sentiment and the black colored layers are vinyl. I love using vinyl for sentiments on cards because they are so easy to apply. All the cuts were made using my Silhouette SD cutter.

School starts at the end of this month and I will have 3 kids in elementary school. My youngest will be going to Kindergarten! Where did the time go? :-( I am scrambling to spend as much time with my babies as possible before school starts and so I will end today's post right here. Excuse me while I head outside and try to catch as much sunshine as I can before Summer is gone.

Thanks soooo much Jin!

Don't forget to head to Jin's blog and leave her some blog love!

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Back 2 school gift and card for the Teacher!

Happy Tuesday!

Today I have another back to school idea for you. I saw a cute idea on Pinterest and thought it would make a really cute inexpensive gift for a teacher. I changed it up a bit and created a card to go with it.
The school house cut is from SVG Attic's set called Back 2 School Cupcake Wrapper. I used the shadow layer to create the base of my card.
The papers are Papertrey Ink and Coredinations.

The sentiment is from My Creative Time's stamp set called, My Teacher Rocks!

The teacher's gift is a bottle of hand lotion with a blackboard tag that say's...

I always pick up a ton of hand lotions when they are on sale, so I always have a few extra laying around. They make great inexpensive gifts!
The blackboard is an SVG that I created in Make-the-Cut and I used a white Souffle pen to write on the black board.

In fact these are perfect for anyone works at the school... like the office staff! Good way to butter them up! You never know when you might need a favor! :)

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Back to School Decor!

Happy Monday!

If you are looking for the Paper Playtime post, click here.

Last week SVG Attic released the cutest cupcake set called, Back 2 School. I knew it would be perfect for a project that I had in mind.
(Beware this post is heavy on photos)
I saw this idea for a crayon wreath several years ago, at a Hobby Lobby. I put it on my "to do" list , in the back of mind and then immediately forgot about it. Then about 2 months ago, I came across a photo of one on Pinterest and I remembered that it was on my "to do" list and that my sister-in-law just happens to be a 3rd grade teacher... I immediately moved it to the top of my list.
FYI...There is a video tutorial at the end of the post.
The crayons were purchased at Wal-Mart for 40 cents a box and the wreath base was cut from chip board, on my Cricut. There is more info about that in the video tutorial below.
These three cuts were cut from SVG Attic.com, Back 2 School svg file.  All three were cut at 3" tall.
The "school" stamp is from My Creative Time's set called, My Teacher Rocks.

All of the papers are Recollections from Michael's.
Here is what you will need to make this wreath.

1. Wreath base - mine has an 8" outside diameter and a 5" inside diameter.
(Designed in Make-the-Cut and cut it out on my Cricut)
2. 2 packs of 24 count Crayons, for a total of 48 crayons.
(Purchased at Wal-Mart for 40 cents each.)
3. Bright colored ribbon for the bow & to attach on the back for/as a hanger.
4. Four decorative cuts to place on the from of the wreath, mine are from SVG Attic's , Back 2 School collection.
(All were cut at 3" tall)
5. A fabulous teacher to give it to!

Here is a video tutorial showing how I made it!

Part Two
I hope that you will stop by SVGAttic.com and check out the new store, blog, and forum! This week Jessica is hosting a fun 3-d challenge with a chance to win a gift certificate.

Tomorrow starts an all new sketch challenge at Peachy Keen Stamps!
I hope you have a wonderful day!

Paper Play Time!

Happy Monday!

Today is the start of an all new Paper Playtime Challenge.
This months requirements are to create a card that has a "water" theme.

This is my card.
MY card was created with a circle, a free wave svg that I found online, and a surfer boy graphic. I converted my little surfer in Make-the-Cut, so that I could cut him out. The base of the card was formed by welding all three shapes together and then creating a shadow layer, also done in Make-the-Cut.
The papers are from Papertrey Ink, DCWV and Coredinations.
The sentiment stamp is from Emma's set called Have Fun in The Sun.
See how his face stamp bled a bit? I ran out of StazOn ink... if you use StazOn, it doesn't bleed like that. I still think he turned out pretty cute, no?

I hope that you play along with us! Click here to go to the Paper Playtime Challenge blog.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Summer Fun "Guest Designer" Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!
Today is the tenth week of my summer guest designer series. This week's guest designer is my talented friend, Saundra! Her blog is called Luv Scrapping Together.

Hello Crafty Friends! I am absolutely thrilled to be this week's Summer Fun "Guest Designer" at September Ninth. I have been following Ruthie's blog for quite some time and I am always inspired to create when I visit. She is a real sweetheart and is always sharing her creativity. Another thing that happens to me when I visit is I frequently purchase the cute SVG files that she is always using to create. She is such an enabler!! :)

My name is Saundra from Luv Scrapping Together. I am a wife and mother. My husband and I have 4 almost grown children. I have been crafting something or other since I was a child but paper crafting is the first thing that I have stuck with consistently.

When I think of summer I think of the sun and fun. With that in mind, I thought it would be fun to put together a layout with a Luau type theme. Now, I haven't been to a Luau recently and have no pictures for this layout but it will be ready when I do. :) Besides, I just had to use these lanterns!
These lanterns are from an svg file called Luau. It can be purchased from SVGAttic. It has more than lanterns in the set and, just so you can see, here is the rest of the layout!
The frame, torch, and flowers all came from that same set. I also used Life is a Beach Cricut cartridge for my hula girl and title. The font on this cartridge does not have a shadow so I just off-set the letters to create a bit of a shadow.
Here is a closer view of the title:
And here is a close up of my little hula girl:

Isn't she sweet! I just love my Peachy Keen face stamps.

If you would like complete detail just come on over to my blog, Luv Scrapping Together. I love new visitors!

Thank you for having me as a guest designer, Ruthie! You are one of the sweetest bloggers out there. Thank you for the encouragement! ~Hugs!!

Ruthie here...
Thanks so much Saundra! Your layout is adorable! Please head on over to Saundra's blog and leave her some blog love!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, see you tomorrow!
I hope you have a wonderful day!
