Today, I came up with this technique that I would call "Triple Die Cutting" to create the same concept of triple layered card. One thing to remember as I emphasized at the class for my friends, it is very important to glue it down very well so it won't fall off. I used Tombow Multiple Liquid Glue. It works the best to keep any papers (except thin papers that will wrinkle) or objects stay on the card.
Here is my completed card and step-by-step photos.
Choosing the die set size.
For colored cardstock - 2-7/8" x 3-3/4, 2-1/8" x 2-3/4"
For whisper white to stamp on - 2-5/8" x 3-3/8", 1-7/8" x 2-1/2"
Edit: I used Nestabilities from Spellbinders by combining both the Classic Rectangles LG set & Classic Rectagles SM set.
I used masking tape to keep two dies securely and not sticky to the paper.
Stamping the images in four different colors.
Triple Die Cutting.
Layering by aligning the stamped images.
Stamping and punching out the accent flowers.
Assembled flowers. I love the center piece.
What is your parting thoughts?
Thanks for stopping by!
Love your technique! I've stayed away from the triple stamping because of the amount of paper. I will be giving yours a try :). TFS
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tommi! I think I will use it more, too.
DeleteIt was one of your other cards that gave me this same idea, I just hadn't tried it yet. I can't wait now.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing your creations. Thank you!
DeleteI like this idea. It makes for less bulk and cleaner stamped images. When stamping on the stacked cardstock, I usually get imperfect images where layers change. Thanks for great idea.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Velda! That's exactly what I thought about it.
DeleteI just saw this idea with using patterned paper on the OWH facebook page and LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteBeth's Beauties
Yes, you can do it with using the patterned paper especially busy looking or bold images by layering colored cardstock in between. Thanks!
DeleteI would love to try this using your die cutting method. I have made several cutting the paper myself but, like Velda, I wasn't able to get sharp images when the layers changed. Could you tell me where you found the dies that you used -- I would love to order that set.
ReplyDeleteHi, I used Nestabilities from Spellbinders by combining both the Classic Rectangles LG set & Classic Rectagles SM set. Thanks for asking.
DeleteWow I have been wanting to try this with patterned paper but couldn't get the dimensions quite right. Thanks so much
ReplyDeleteThanks for your thoughts!
DeleteI just love your cards and your techniques. Thank you so much for sharing them with us. I plan to try this one and I have tried your method of cutting 12 X 12 paper to make several cards.
ReplyDeleteHow nice to hear that you have tried the 12x12 paper cutting method! Thanks for your thoughts.
DeleteWhat a great way to do the technique without wasting so much cardstock- thanks for the tutorial!
ReplyDeleteMakes a very cute card. tY
ReplyDeleteCan you clarify if the size of the dies are the actual cut pieces or the size of the dies. If the size of the dies, on the cut edge or the outside edge? Have both sets, but can' seem to match the sizes you are giving.
ReplyDeleteWow, this was a tricky one for me, but I think I did it!! Yay! Thanks for this, Seongsook! What a fun technique to try!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't figure it out myself. Is the sizes the dies or the paper?
DeleteYou came up with a much better way to make these pretty cards. After some trial and error, I figured out how to set up the files on my Silhouette so I can cut these out anytime I want. If anyone wants the instructions and dimensions, just email me at cynthiarosedesigns@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteI don't have any rectangle dies, so I did the other Triple Time Stamping method. Thanks for the challenge!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the helpful tutorial and card samples. Will have to try this.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to know how to make these kinds of cards! TY for the sizes - I do not have the dies so I used my old green cricut cutter and my tim holtz ruler to measure - it was so simple, not exactly the same but close, and I have some frayed edges but I distressed it, so it looks like maybe it should be that way : ) I am going to make some 'frame' cards for christmas by leaving off the center top piece - TY again! Lo

Great Tutorial...Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThis is great. Thx so much for sharing. But... How do you line up the dies so that they are centered horizontally and vertically and therefore keep the gaps even.
ReplyDeleteVery, very nice technique and saves a lot of time making a beautiful card.
