Simplistic Beauty

Much faster than i expected, we have all approached the end of our internship.

On Sunday i packed my stuff and bid farewell to many I have spend many a memorabe moment with.

All that is left, a very sparse common area, and as Edmund mentioned, the common area never looked so cold.

A farewell party was orgnised for us, A&E interns, and it was realy nice to see some of our colleagues. The gift was thoughtful of them too, a precious acrylic piece with them best wishes for us all.

It was hard to wake up Monday morning, and know that there is no need to travell all the way to the island.
Some colleagues smsed saying how much we are already missed and that it is all too quiet. Fellow interns expressing the want of having us visit them soon as the silence is driving everyone crazy.

It is strange that how I have grown so attached to the island. From attraction operations, to events, Show Technical hunks, to the friendly bus drivers and our rangers. Out going bird and animal trainers, loving office colleaguesand our happening Beach Patrol. They are no more just faces i see on the island, they have become alot more to me.

These six months have been a fantastic chapter in my life, Through the ups and downs, there are many moments I will cherish. It is hard to let go, and say goodbye, but parting is inevitable i suppose.

Now i will need to look ahead and look forward to a exciting semester ahead! =)

It has been slightly more than a more since I have stepped into the island as an intern and indeed, I have learnt alot.

I spent most of my time at Fort Siloso, learning the operations and being a tram host. It took me slightly more than two or three days to get my three page commentary learnt and now I do understand the importance of being able to bring 'character' to the spiel. There was so much more that I had a chance to learn. The opening and closing procedures, and what comes across as bein really simple, like ticket tripping, can bring about some of the toughest challenges!

One of the highlights for me was having the chance to be the tram host of the Vice-president of Tunisia and his delegation! It was interesting to see security come comb through the fort and seeing everyone get ready for our VIPs. Was suppose to host the Minister of Foriegn Affairs from the Republic of Benin but doe to the really bad weather, it got cancelled. But at least I manged to do at least one VIP visit. =)

Having been attached to Fort Siloso for so long, I must admit that there is indeed some bit of reluctance to have to leave soon and be attached to the other attractions. But one must look forward to everything else I suppose.

Had a chance to try crowd control for the Musical Fountian shows in the evenings (weekends) and it has been fun! I look forward to doing crowd control every now and then. =)

Have been in the office doing my fair share of paper work as well. Was in charge of doin up the power point slides for the lecture Sess had to do at the Tourism Academy. There is still quite a bit that I need to finish up for them before I think I can close this chapter of my involvement with the Tourism Academy. Oh yes, I was involved in the opening of the campus as well. It was fun, to have had the chance to make friends with the staff from the other departments as well.

Images of Singapore was opened on 27th May 2005. Though it was its soft launch, I was lucky enough to have had the opporunity to take a look round it. Pretty nice, I love the effort that was put into making this attraction what it is.

Life has been hectic and sure, there have been its bad days, but I am loving every minute of it. The friends I have made, the memories etched in my mind, nothing can beat that. I believe that I made the right choice to spend this period here at Sentosa.

I have so much more to tell about the last few weeks but sometimes words cannot suffice and I think this is getting way too wordy. I promise to update soon. No matter what tomorrow brings, be it good or bad, bring it on I say!

What an incredible first day it has been! Many things were done and boy did Ross and I walk about alot!

As expected, we were with James, and a girl from SMU, Karen. She is pretty nice so I suppose that is good. =) Will get to see one another quite a bit. And us from attractions (Ross and I) will somewhat swop with them from events (James and Karen).

Today we met plenty of staff, and it was nice of them to bring the four of us out to lunch at Labrador. Juliana and Sess are nice people, and there are so many others like Gen, Jocelyn, Fan and Kelven.

We were briefed on many things and it made me look forward to the many challenegs that I will face. Sure, I will be scared of some of the tasks assignedto me, but I really hope to do my best and learn as much as I can possible.

Made friends with two part-timers for attractions too. So today, 10 SMU interns, 2 part-timers, and a whole lot of Sentosa staff. Phew! And oh, Ross and I went to the Carlsberg Sky Tower, Fort Siloso and the Merlion.

Sp many things happened today, but I will update tomorrow. Too many IGthings I need to settle asap. =)
