Spring Confetti

Decorating for spring is so fun! We love busting out those cheerful colors.

We wanted to use a chocolate bunny for our centerpiece. But, it looked lonely. So, we added a paper doily and some Easter grass. For more color, we punched flowers out of our velvet paper to use as confetti.

You could even cut strips of velvet paper to make your own grass.

Velvet confetti is so easy to make! We love how it brightens up our centerpiece.

Pinwheels Birthday Decor

Need a quick and easy decor project for your next celebration? Your SEI July Cardmaking kit contains everything you need to make these fun pinwheels.

Simply cut pattered paper into squares; I used six and eight inch squares. Then use a ruler to lightly draw an 'x' from corner to corner of each square. With a awl punch a small hole in the center of your squares and cut along the penciled lines from the corner up to an inch from the center. Then make small holes in every other flap of the pinwheel. Fold over the punched corners, line up the holes and use one of the flower shaped brads included in the kit to hold the pinwheel together. That's it!

Attach them to a door like I did or use some string for a banner. They can even be hung from the ceiling with fishing wire! Have fun!

Butterfly Straws

Springtime is shower time. Not just rain showers, but baby and bridal showers too and your SEI May Cardmaking Kit is perfect for creating pretty party decorations like these butterfly straws. All you need for this project are some paper straws and a few butterfly punches or dies.

These straws are from Susty Party purchased at Whole Foods...I prefer them because they are compostable, non-toxic and made from renewable materials.

Simply punch or die cut some butterflies and attach with a small dab of craft glue. You could also make a couple tiny hole punches in the butterflies to tie to the straws with jute if you have any concerns about using glue. They're that easy...and so cute, don't you think?

Summer Barbecue Party + Giveaway

It's the last day of our Tumble Dye week. We hope you've had as much fun as we have!

Today we're showing you summertime Tumble Dye projects. We hope you will use some of these ideas to make your summer fun and COLORFUL!

We love summer barbecues! It's so fun to gather your friends and family to enjoy good food. For our barbecue, we added color to ordinary skewers, wooden handles, and even condiment cups by dipping them in a little Tumble Dye.

Make your get-togethers special with unique details using Tumble Dye. Our canvas banner kit works great with Tumble Dye. Just spray it on in whatever colors you want. Add a design to plain white cups with Tumble Dye too.

It works great on paper. For our decor, we sprayed Tumble Dye onto tissue paper and made little pom-poms on skewers. The invitations and cake flags are just white paper brushed with Tumble Dye.

This bag and hat were plain and simple. So, we added a little ombre to liven them up for summer. We love how easy Tumble Dye is to use for all kinds of projects! In fact, we have a pinboard devoted to gathering these ideas right here.

To enter the giveaway for 4 bottles of Tumble Dye, a canvas banner kit, and a 12x12 Blooms & Blossoms paperpad, follow the directions below.

Colorful Party with Free Downloads & Giveaway

It's a blog party this week! We hope you're loving all the great Tumble Dye projects we created to share with you and the giveaways too. Everyone loves giveaways, right? We do!

Today we're showing fun party ideas using Tumble Dye. Whether you're doing a tie-dye party, a classic birthday, rainbow party, or another theme, we hope this party will inspire you to use your creativity.

One of our favorite things about this party is the fabulous confetti dot tablecloth. We made this using a white sheet, Tumble Dye, a tape roll and a paintbrush. Use the inside of a roll of tape as your stencil. For smaller circles, a toilet paper roll would work as a stencil too. Use your paintbrush to fill in the circle with Tumble Dye.

It seems like we just can't have a party without some fun cupcake wraps and toppers. So, we have some free
printables downloads for you to make your own cupcake wraps, toppers & thank you circles. If you have a cutting machine, you can use the svg file to have your machine do the work for you. Find all of our printables here.

Now, how are you going to keep those little party-goers busy? We thought of that too! Wrap a t-shirt and/or blank puppet up with some pretty paper for each child. For older kids, you can even give them their own bottle of Tumble Dye to use since it is easy-to-use, water-based, non-toxic and environmentally-friendly. Now, teach them how to make their own puppets and shirts.

If you'd like to learn how to tie-dye, watch this video, or one of our other helpful videos.

To enter the giveaway for our Tumble Dye Primary 3-Pack, 12x12 Paper Pad and Monster Iron-ons, follow the directions below. The giveaway ends tomorrow!

Parisian Spring Party

S.E.I.'s Mia Bella collection takes center stage in a Parisian inspired Spring party!

Let's create an altered egg carton to hold the party treats!

Altered Parisian Egg Carton:
1. Remove labels and slice an egg carton in half.
2. Trace the shape of egg carton lid onto the Sienna Sunset and Organic Green papers. Cut on traced line and tear edges to meet the cut edge of the egg carton. Adhere inside carton lid.
3. Die cut 3 large and 3 medium blooms from sheet music and damask fabric and papers. Distress paper blooms by spritzing with water and crumbling. Dry with a hot embossing gun.
4. Ink edges with the coral chalk ink. Use hot glue to adhere inside egg carton lid. Place a gold glitter dot in the center of the top bloom.
5. Slice a dollie in half and adhere to post card paper. Add a gold alphabet sticker and write a message for guests. Adhere to front of egg carton.

Once you start create these party treat bags, you won't want to stop!

Parisian Party Treat Bags:
1. Slice dollies in half and glue to the top of glassine bag.
2. Create small distressed blooms as described above using Charcoal Chalk Ink. Add an iridescent flower from the Sundries to the center of the distressed blooms. Peirce the center of the stacked blooms and hold together with a brad.
3. Glue pennants from the Mia Bella die cuts to each bag and add a bloom on top.
4. Fill bags with your favorite party treats such as; popcorn, chocolate covered pretzels, or candy.

Halloween Party Decor & Costume Awards

I have a couple of Halloween party ideas for today. Now that I have young children in the house, they want decorations for every holiday.

One of my go to types of decorations is a simple shape and I stand it up on a rosette. They are quick and easy and you don't have to glue the shape to the base. Two pieces means easier storage for next year.

I used the Salem Heights collection for the pumpkin and rosette. I cut out an orange pumpkin and backed it with dead man's parlor. I made a mirror image of the pumpkin and background and glued all four cuts together. On one side I cut some triangles and a smile out of midnight velvet and the other side "Trick or Treat".

The rosette is made with spooky town bash. A black bow,a stem and a leaf with the clover velvet and a rose made out of Corinne-sunshine finish it off.

What's a Halloween party without a costume contest? The first thing I thought of were prize ribbons when I saw the SPOOKS dimensional elements.

The stickers are already so cute it didn't take much to make a cute ribbon.

I made a small rosette for the base, glued some ribbon streamers, then added a couple layers of circle cuts and the sticker. Glue a pin on the back and you have perfect prizes for your little monsters. The striped paper is from the Cheery Brights stack and the lattice ribbon is punched from Midnight velvet.

Happy crafting,
Jules

Summer Carnival Party Part Two

Hello! When we last left off I had shared with you my plans for a carnival themed party, starting with an oversized ticket invitation. Now comes the best part of any party...the food!

While I usually dream big about party details, the realization that I'd have to duplicate all of these extras many times over got the best of me. For once I listened to my husband and kept things relatively simple!

Again, using PSE, I created a few labels to embellish some party treats. Like this little glassine bag filled with popcorn. I simply wrapped some patterned paper from A Fair Day around the bag, tied some twine around it and added my label.

And what carnival party doesn't have animal crackers?! Here I opted for a clear bag so the animals could all be seen. I made a simple bag topper with more patterned paper, tied on some twine and added some "tickets" that I cut out using a shaped die.

And, lastly, even my water bottles are getting a makeover! I used another strip of patterned paper, adhered it around the bottle and added my little elephant that coordinates with my invitation. More washi tape around the top of the bottle...just because I can!

I hope you enjoyed my carnival inspired party! Hopefully your summer has been just as fun!

Jennifer

Supplies: stamps (Waltzingmouse Stamps), washi tape (Pick Your Plum), A Fair Day (SEI)
