Elliot turned 3 years old just a few weeks after Oliver was born. So you can imagine that I was just a little bit distracted, but luckily managed to throw his party together in record time. As always, Pinterest was helpful.
At the last minute I decided to cut out some circles to represent the solar system for some decoration. I thought they turned out pretty cute.
I used peach rings and cherry sours poked on toothpicks to make "planet" cupcake toppers. The blue icing came with dolphin sprinkles, but if you squinted they almost looked like rocket-ships. So we went with it.
When the kids arrived, they worked on outer space coloring pages..
...and played in the giant rocket ship I jimmy-rigged together.
The backstory on this bad boy: My mom works in a Kindergarten classroom. A big cardboard tower had been made for a play the kids had done. My mom asked me if I wanted the tower for my kids to play in. I said no, it would just take up too much space. But then a few days later I realized I could cut it down and turn it into a rocket ship! So I called my mom back and asked her if I could still have it. A few cuts, some duct tape, and crepe paper later--and voila! The wonkiest rocket ship ever.
This astronaut was another score from my mom. Hooray for old Kindergarten supplies!
We played "Pin the NASA badge on the Astronaut."
Bean bag toss into the sun.
Drop the coin in the jar, duck, duck, goose, and plenty of free play time topped off the party. And of course eating cupcakes and opening presents.
And every parent probably loved me for the blue frosting that ended up all over little faces. Thank goodness for baby wipes.
The kids got sent home with these little rocket ship cup favors. Complete with some "planets" (play-dough) and the Milky Way.
And what party is complete without streamer dancing, right?
We loved celebrating our big 3 year old.
Happy Birthday Elliot!
