Snow Snow Go Away....

Family-Friends-Others let's catch up....

Enough's enough...I'm done with snow.  I've seen enough in the past 6 months to pretty much last my lifetime :) --exaggerating a tad--I'm just getting tired of snow right now.  It has been snowing here in Utah all day every day since this past Sunday.  I'm ready for sunshine-warm sunshine.  I'm ready for beautiful clear days to view our scenery-sit outside on our picnic blanket-go for hikes.  I'm ready for at least one sweater weather (instead of long johns-several shirts-scarf-big jacket).  I'm ready to be tan and cute.  I'm ready for the BEACH!

This current mood could be caused by the recent purchase of two tickets to South Carolina for our family beach trip in July!  It will be so nice to go back to South Carolina and visit with those Southern folks and see Southern things and do Southern things and to just be Southern with other Southerners who won't peg you out as being Southern :)-Ahh the joy.

Seth and I are semi-officially Utahians now.  We went and applied for a Utah driver's license and both passed the open book test :).  Unlike South Carolina-Utah seems to give paper licenses out until we receive our 'real' licenses in the mail within 3-4 weeks.

Emily and Trevor week:

Bearded Pizza from the Beard and Mustache Society Meeting.

My Sister-in-law-fun to say.

Trevor & Seth-They soooo loved being with each other :).

We built a snowman.

Snowshoeing group.

Lemon-Blueberry Cake that Emily and I made.  Note to self: Buy a cake plate.

Making Peanut Butter Cups.

Playing :).

Seth and Trevor went Skiing and both had a ball from what we heard.  Emily and I hung out-chitchatted-ate crepes-and we baked a tad.  We all went snowshoeing-Crystal Hot Springs-Walking around Campus.  Seth and Trevor had snowball fights every second of being outside in the snow while Emily and I were a little more sophisticated :).  It was so much fun to have family here again-We both enjoyed their company and having them see our Utah home and lives :).

Recently I have been missing a lot of Eason-Troupe-Fried Okra-Basically all things Fried.  And of course all the time our families!

Well guys-that is about all I want to say right now.  My wonderful husband just cooked me dinner while I blogged and we are about to chow down and enjoy it :).

Cook Necessities to Living.

So, while working out in the gym I thought about what all Seth and my daily needs were.  Things we COULDN'T do without-things that are necessities in our lives.

Actually-I'm not going to lie-I was sitting on the couch drinking my morning cup of joe in my pajamas-but I just threw that in here so everyone will know I do work out and am not getting to be a fatty. :).

Anywho-I thought it would be fun to blog about what us Cook's need to live. :).  So-while most of you read things you will realize 'Hey those are things everyone/I need daily too'-but I'm going to tell you to shush it and just enjoy what I'm telling you about us folks.

.Cook Necessities to Live.

1. First and foremost it would be the Bible-of course right.  Seth and I have grown so much while being married and living in Utah and we wouldn't be where we are today without the Bible and our Church.
2. Flour.  We have easily gone through 100 pounds of flour since we have been out here-maybe even more.  We usually have a 10 lb bag in our flour container-and a 10 lb bag waiting to be put in the flour container.  It's a big deal and I can definitely say we couldn't LIVE without it.
3. Skype.  It is our way of seeing our family and friends while being so far away from everyone.  It helps our homesickness and family withdrawals.  I actually just got done skyping with my parents and seeing my 2 year old Troupster (his birthday was Saturday-sing happy birthday to him!)-and we got our fix for a little bit.
4. Beer.  Seth and I just enjoy a tasty flavorful beer with our dinners sometimes. It is just a little treat for both of us-just like those Pepsi's or Dr. Pepper's are for some of you.  Hopefully that is an okay comparison-I'll justify it by saying we usually only drink one every so often nowadays.  It helps bring out the flavor of our food :) and make us feel good about life.
5.  Coffee-this may be a necessity for many of you also.  Out in Utah there aren't that many folks that drink coffee so we are one of few who enjoy it.  We drink a cup in the morning together and each take a coffee thermos to work for enjoyment.  Green tea is another of those can't live without items.  In the afternoons (especially on these cold Utah afternoons) we will both love a hot cup of tea (Seth's plain-mine with a little honey and splenda!)
6. Water- I could include it with the coffee and tea but I'm not so get over it.  Seth and I basically just drink coffee and water.  We don't buy soft drinks or other beverages-water is free.  Water is good for you-and it keeps you hydrated and that's what we both need living in Utah.  You could also throw a lemon slice in it and call it Lemonade :).
7. Bread is one of those things we CAN NOT and WILL NOT live without. I refuse.  I gave it up to lose weight for my wedding-and I did lose a little but I will not give it up again (I think).  It is always just such a joy to put in your mouth and I can eat any and all kinds of bread.  It's so versatile-can be eaten for breakfast-sandwiches-dinner.  Yum-bread is just where life is at and Seth and I have to have it to live.  End of story.
8.  Candles-Smellgood this is moreso one of my things I can't live without.  I love to have a smellgood going and just walk from room to room and enjoy the scent.  I also simply love the way a smellgood looks when it is going. It makes me feel better about life and that's about all I can say.  I need them in my home.
9. Text Messaging.  Seth could go without it if he weren't married to me :)-so now it is a necessity to our lives.  I'd much much rather text you something real quick then call and have a 2 minute conversation.  Text is just so simple and easy-and it is my best form of communication.  It's how I ask Seth would he like this or that for supper.  Or how Seth tells me how much he loves me and adores me and blah blah blah (that last line was a fib :)! ).  Maybe I should be a little embarrassed about it being my best form of communication-it actually sounds sad reading it-I may work on changing this necessity.
10. Garlic-Onion.  These two will have to go together and I'm sure most of you can't live without either of these!  Seth and I always have these items on our weekly grocery list with a roman numeral beside it.  We put both of these ingredients in just about every recipe-even if it doesn't call for it.  We live for these flavors-and then after eating them we give each other big sloppy garlicy-oniony kisses :). Kidding.
11. So next item is Tortilla's.  They definitely have to have there own category.  Seth and I began living when we found the recipe for these bad boys.  They are so delicious and yummy.  One of the best things you can put in your mouth-and I'm not even fibbing or exaggerating on that one.  They are on our weekly menu at least once maybe twice a week.  The first time I made these-Seth stated, 'we won't be buying tortillas from the store ever again' and that statement has held true.  They are worth living for....
12. Library card.  I am an avid book reader girl.  I love all kinds of books and I would be lost or either Seth would be one unhappy fella if I didn't have books to read.  The library where we live is wonderful and 5 times as large as my previous library in South Carolina.  Everytime I go into the library here I stay for at least half an hour.  Emily shared her idea of renting cookbooks from the library (never even thought the library would offer that-silly me) and I went down the cookbook aisle this past Saturday and was in awe.  I didn't even look at the entire aisle-I grabbed one that had a lot of pictures and brought it home :).
13. Recipes.  I love recipes-love asking for them-researching them-looking at recipe/food blogs-etc.... I love reading them and seeing the visual picture for how they are suppose to turn out.  I like measuring quantities for recipes and I go specifically by the measuring that the recipe says to use.  I can't just smell and add random things like Seth can.  I'll ask him if I should add anything else to a recipe/meal and he will just come to our spice rack and start this hand waving sniffing deal and will just start pouring deliciousness into our meal.  I wish I could just use my nose or whatnot but I didn't get that trait so I abide strictly by recipes.  We couldn't survive without them.
14. Movies.  I never was a movie buff but I always enjoyed a good movie.  Seth on the other hand is a serious intense hardcore movie buff.  If you catch him while watching a movie-good luck with trying to get his attention.  He gets soooooo into them (even if it is an awful movie and he will later tell you that it stunk) and you can have no form of communication until it is over.  So--what else could I do but get into them also and become a movie buff--what other choice do I have? So movies are big on our list of necessities of living.  It is our form of entertainment sometimes and being able to 'spend' time together :). I enjoy them a lot more now that I actually watch them and don't chitchat during them.
15. Eucerin lotion & Burt's Bees Chapstick.  Yea life couldn't go on without these.  We would be dead.  Since we are our own dishwashers our hands will dry out so bad-burn-get little red dots on them-itch-dead flaky skin will fall off-etc....So we have to use lotion several times a day on our hands to survive.  Also-we both have to apply Burt's Bees or Blistex on our lips constantly throughout the day because it is soooo super dry out here.  We both carry them in our pockets-I have one in my purse for backup-and we have several laying around in random places for extra backup.  They are a necessity anywhere you live but mostly here :).
16. Seth couldn't live without Racquetball.  He is a racquetball nut-I've already mentioned this before-but it is a big deal.  He plays several times a week and LOVES it.  So-I couldn't dare make him live without it now. I couldn't live without the gym.  :)-Again I could--just wanted to throw in there that I work out to keep this bod of mine-gross huh.
17. Lastly-you couldn't get away without any mushy stuff right?  We couldn't live without each other and our love :).  So-I just had to add that to be silly and mushy and icky-sorry folks.

Hope this isn't to much or overwhelming for some of you-just thought it'd be fun.  Just an FYI-we could live without folding and hanging up clothes (I don't mind washing or drying) and live without washing dishes :).

We went on a little hike today and here are a few gorgeous pictures-It was 53 here today.

Mountains-and to the Right is a Valley and More Mountains-It was So Pretty.

Seth hiking up the side of the Mountain.

Our view-Look at those distant Mountains.

Valley overlook and More mountains :).

Peace out folks! :).

--So Long, Farewell :).--

So Long, Farewell-we hate for you to go and leave this pretty sight :).  So Long, Farewell I leave and heave a sigh and say Goodbye.

Olivia and Brian week is Officially over.  Don't think I like the thought of the next time I see these folks will be in 5ish months-but I do like the thought of seeing them and the rest of my clan at the BeAcH for a full wEeK in 5ish months :).  I think the whole family LOVES our annual beach trips-and the four of us chatted about past trips and began to plan fun ideas for this years trip.  My one goal is to get my tan on-and be darker than Olivia :).  Another goal is for Seth and I to be able to stay up late with the dock folks--and maybe Cara and Steve should try and set this goal too :).  I know Seth will be able to hang-If I can-though-is another story.  I may be one of those wives who won't allow there hubbys to stay up late??  Kidding-even so I think Seth will adopt my Daddy's excuses of 'I have to stay up with Darren-Eason-John-Brian to make sure they are behaving and not getting out of hand'.  Now that I'm a domesticated woman-I wonder if I will be labeled like those 'older' women in my family who have cooking and cleaning up duty.  Not sure how I feel about this yet-but----Ahhhh-I just can't wait-I love our beach trips!  I may even get crazy with it and start a countdown soon :)-anywho back to Olivia and Brian week.

Seth and I confirmed that this past week was a success-for us at least-we have reason to believe that Olivia and Brian would confirm the week as a success also.

Luckily we had perfect weather while they visited.  It wasn't TOO cold (but it was colder then they were use to!) and it was mostly clear BEA-UUU-tiful days.

Such an Amazing Sight-Never gets Old (to muah at least!)

One of a kind SunSet

Traveling home-Colors were such a Sight

A view from Campus.

We took our guest to Hardware Ranch to visit all the elk.  One fun fact I'd like to share with everyone is there were about 500 elk-and they feed each elk about 8-10 lbs of alfalfa per elk per day.  Wow!  And they grow all the alfalfa on there own meadows!  Interesting stuff.

We celebrated the SuperBowl with Olivia-Brian-Gina-Joe and had a great PaR-TaY!  Not much of the game was watched-but we definitely enjoyed stuffing our faces until it was uncomfortable and playing CatchPhrase-(which will be brought to the beach for dock fun).

We also went to two different Natural hot springs.  One was very remote in Idaho where we enjoyed the front desk lady-Olivia especially.  I will let her explain the rest of the story to those of you who would like to know-she enjoys telling it :).  The other was down the road from where we live.

Olivia and Brian went and explored our hometown for a few days-they now have been to more places in one week than Seth and I have been to in almost 6 months!  I took them on a short tour of campus where we took more beautiful pictures :).

So funny story-They have this 'true blue aggie' deal here at Utah State.  If you strip buck naked and leap on top of this bull/aggie (whatever this thing is with horns) and 'ride/sit' on it-then you my friend get to be a 'TRUE BLUE AGGIE'.  Of course our bud Brian here wanted to become a 'TRUE BLUE AGGIE' and he did my friends.  He did.  Brian left Utah this morning as a 'TRUE BLUE AGGIE'.  Olivia wasn't to pleased with him about this though.

I just told a fib.  He did no such thing-but there are folks that are considered to be true blue aggie's.  And we have shaken hands with those that are such a thing.

A view of the Island and Mountains.

Olivia's cool Panoramic shot-AWESOME camera.

One of my BeSt friends :).  See my reason to get my tan on? I'm pale....

LOVED having family come visit-it was such a fun time showing them where we live and what we get to experience daily out here!  Thanks for coming guys!

Valentine's Day :).
Seth and I have already celebrated our V-Day!  While traveling home from Salt Lake this morning I decided we should go ahead and exchange gifts.  Why wait-if you know me I LOVE surprises-but hate not knowing what they are and also can't stand waiting(even though I had a good inkling of what I was getting).  Seth agreed-what else could the poor guy do?  I got him a big bamboo cutting board and a dirty clothes basket-don't let this guy fool you he thoroughly enjoyed both gifts :).  Moreso the cutting board-but we needed a new dirty clothes basket-so I thought I'd buy it and give as a gift instead of just buying it straight out.  Don't you fellas out there wish you were married to me now ??  Kidding!  He got me exactly what I wanted!! :). Facial/Massage-and I have already called and made my appointment for Monday the 14th.  We are also going out to eat to Hamilton's one day next week for Valentine's + our 6 months of marital bliss :).  Hope you all have a great weekend & Valentine's Day.

February will be and has been a good month!
