genting the third

so far, i've had 3 ways to enjoy genting. the first time i went, it was purely for a concert. the second time, with a bunch of mature people who's not up for the theme park. and this time round, for the third, we go all out crazy.

Out-of-the-ordinary Act 1:

eat the banana-peeling ice-cream.

first thing first, it wasn't even in banana flavour. i didn't realise that until V pointed it out to me. you see the yellow 'banana' peel? it's pineapple flavoured jelly. the white part is just vanilla ice cream.

obviously you can get it at a much cheaper price at pj or anywhere else. but honestly i wouldn't have bought it on any given average day.

Out-of-the-ordinary Act 2:

i have no photo for this but i think it deserves a mention. that stupid roller coaster ride - corkscrew.

the story is, we bought express tickets for the outdoor theme park and were determined to squeeze every cent's worth out of it. and squeezed we did. we jumped the queue for the teapot ride (i forbade any teacup turning, hence, we were the most lifeless teacup among the lot), the pirate train ride (too chicken to take it in the end), ferris wheel (amusingly named after the sun, the matahari),the spninner (the ride with the swing seats and you get swung around in circles. highly DANGEROUS).

and then we arrived at the CORKSCREW, with lotsa 360 turns and plummets.  needless to say, i am so humji that the camera shot me looking straight down at my legs (throughout the ride) while everyone else was looking up into the sky. pft, i'd rather take the caterpillar ride any day (which we did and slept the whole way through).

Out-of-the-ordinary Act 3:

Skydiving. or rather, mock skydiving. rm38 for 2 minutes worth of skydiving experience.

fun, but once is enough. note: you will need to live with skydiving goggles mark  for the next hour or so.

Out-of-the-ordinary Act 4:

shoot arrows like crazy. well, that's because G was hooked on archery. but that's besides the point. omg my leg is damn awesome here can.

the point is, we shot a total of close to 100 arrows per person, for 2 days consecutively, with malay music continuously blasting in the background. the result: irritated archers with aching arms the next day.

Out-of-the-ordinary Act 5:

busting our wallets on theme parks and funfair games. no need for further explanation.

and V won this on the first throw when we were at the coin throw game. talk about lady luck on our side. but subsequently we spent over 20 dollars on more of these funfair games before concluding that lady luck has left the building.

there you have it, ladies and gentlemen. 3 notably different ways of enjoying genting, for the 3 extremes.

bento

i've been very very inactive lately and i'm sorry but you have to bare with this PLUS this blog entry will be a very short post and it will sound a lil bit angsty, so don't say i didn't warn you.

note: any form of sarcasm is accidental.

i think one who is saving at the expense of others is not called saving. it's like seeping your seeping your parents' money from their account and call it your saving. that is just an example from the top of my head, not implying that i do it. what i do is that i spend my parents' money and don't save.

oh no, i'm so angsty i've forgotten my next point. anyway, i'm booking my air ticket in about a day or two! karaoke session coming soon!

i'm also looking forward to this piano concert i've signed up for, which will fall on september. that means i can practise all i want on my very own black beauty (my school piano room's piano is getting old and rough ) and as usual, annoy the hell out of my siblings, if they are not on holiday somewhere in hong kong (?) or genting (?). i put question mark because they're taken from indirect sources.

so yes, to put a nice closure to this, i give you my current all-time-favourite bento:

from umi sushi at $5.50. yums :)

plan b

i am feeling totally lost. maybe it's a phase, or maybe it's not. or was it the thought of being unemployed at the moment.

i am now at the end of a 3-year affair with my university (which, i suspect, is trying to promote it to a long term affair with this exclusive circle called the alumni club) and still stuck in my hostel, thinking what course should i take next.

course as in route, inclusive of further studies and professional examinations of course.

allow me to take you through the latest draft of my future plans. i have 3 options:

1) take the actuarial exams, starting with the most basic Core Technical Paper 1 (which i screwed up in school pfft). earliest possible date would be September. and that is only 1 out of a string of 15 papers (at least).

2) take the CFA exam, which a few of my classmates are considering. it's not as professional as the ACCA or the actuarial ones but it's a starting point. 3 papers in total, out of which 2 are 100% MCQ. at this stage of my life, MCQs are like extinct animals.

3) start working. that is if someone would like to hire me in the first place.

there you have it. 3 non-mutally exclusive choices. no strictly true or false answers.

compensate

i dislike people who've made a promise, proceed to break it, apologise AND their subsequent actions seem to contradict their commitment in fulfilling the promise.

note the word 'and'. i'm fine with people making a promise, breaking it and then apologising. i break promises, i apologise and then make sure i please you up to a reasonable level. it's only human to do so. what matters is the actions that come after.

you are a failure if you've apologise but ignore the actions to compensate, knowing what is expected from you.

identity crisis

i think i'm going through an identity crisis. i've forgotten that i'm a blogger.

anyway! many many updates because i haven't been blogging much.

first up, i've learnt to hack a psp. the story is like this: the lifeguard bought a psp-3006. no, not the upcoming one which has touch-sensitive panel at the back. this is the version before that, almost similar to mine. the price is S$250 for a somewhat limited black and red edition. i bought mine at RM800 (a psp-2006, modifications included) 3 years ago but that's besides the point.

so yes, a new brand, unmod new psp. and you know what they wrote on the receipt?

"PSP-3006 CANNOT MOB UNIT"

i assume that he meant psp-3000 cannot "mod" unit. which means unlike my modded psp, which allows me to play games without forking out a cent (if you get the drift), this new psp will burn a hole in your pocket. just like the psp GO. that explains why you don't see many (if any) people holding a psp GO, not in Malaysia anyway.

so what do we do if we're thrown into this kinda hopeless situation? like many others, we googled for solutions. and solutions, we have found. the day is saved, once again.

honestly, i'm just proud of myself for proving that receipt wrong. i haven't got around to taking photos of that psp. it's prettier than my psp, so it deserves a pictorial post dedicated to immortalise its beauty.

and if i'm in the good mood, maybe i should post a step-by-step guide on modding the unit? i don't know whether i'll get sued over it but oh well. see my mood.

that marks the end of the psp story. let's see what other stories do i have in store. hmm.....i have a quiz tomorrow. i've also finalised my final year project. my groupmate did most of the mathematical/geeky work, which made me feel bad, and the only way i console myself is that i did a small bit of calculations on the reinsurance premiums (if this makes no sense to you, it's ok, just keep reading) and a big bulk of the report, which includes writing the conclusions, abstract, introduction, putting in the content page and the front page with the school logo on it. there. good job jy.

oh no, i'm starting to feel the blogger in me again. should i write more? should i write less? should i put in photos?

i think i will leave some stories for next time. have a good week peeps!
