Trick or Treat

I am not sure that my kids (or rather son) thought I gave enough attention to Halloween costumes this year. He spent weeks online searching for a Bionicle costume. He even went so far as to bid on several only to miss the ending bid by a few cents or dollars. I was a little distracted with what was happening to my mom (more on that in another post) and so was okay with his back up plan of being a pirate. He felt that being a pirate was a little too "original" which led to a conversation about what "original" meant and that perhaps he had meant unoriginal.

About 2 days before halloween he gets the brilliant idea that perhaps he (and by he, he meant me) could make a bionicle costume. I felt that by he, he meant his dad so passed it on to the creative genius. He (meaning Jeff) did not disappoint and created a fabulous Bionicle costume! Quite the miracle worker.

Our Tinker Bell, Pirate Lass and Bionicle Warrior had a great time out trick or treating with their dad and came home with a boatload of candy! A good time was had by all!

Virtual Integrity

One of our friends wrote this book about navigating the web. He is quite a big wig in the state of MI and actually just won a huge national award that is only given to a few people each year.

Loose Tooth(s)

Yee haw! Two teeth out in a matter of days! She already has one of the adult teeth growing in behind it so she won't be toothless for long!

Pumpkin Patch Visit

I have been delinquent in my posts. I got to go with Olivia on her field trip to the pumpkin patch in October. It was a beautiful crisp fall day! Perfect for visiting the pumpkin patch!

Extreme Makeover- Home or Heart Edition

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition invaded our area at the end of September. It was all over the radio, tv, and newspaper. We couldn't go anywhere without it being the topic of conversation. Everyone knew someone who knew someone that had worked or saw one of the design team in person. One of my friends got to see Rib Hillis and Michael Maloney up close and personal. Another friend got to meet most of the design team and go to do the "Braveheart March" down the road. One of my friend's hubby's got to meet Ty Pennington and worked right next to him during the demo. I even saw Paige one night in Walgreens. All week people went down to the worksite. I had the chance to go on the next to last day. The community support was unbelievable.

This family's life will be radically changed. Because of Extreme Home Makeover and the community their lives will never be the same. Their encounter with this project will be life altering.

My life on the other hand won't be altered or changed at all for having visited the site. It was a fun thing to do with my kids on their day off. But seeing Paige or Michael won't make a difference to who I am or what I do for the rest of my life.

As I stood at the site I couldn't help but wonder if this is what it was like for Jesus. Crowds followed him- thousands at a time. Maybe some took off work to get a glimpse of him. Perhaps someone knew someone that knew someone who had been healed by Him. The towns were probably abuzz because of him. Many lives were radically changed by their encounter with Him. But I am sure there were some whose lives weren't altered at all. When He left they went on about their business with no change at all.

We have a choice. Like this family our lives can be completely altered and changed...by Jesus. Or like me, we can just be bystanders who encounter something amazing but it doesn't change our lives at all. What is your choice? Will you be changed...I mean radically changed by Jesus or will you just be a bystander? I know for me- I want to be radically changed by Him!
