Snow Day

We were delighted with another snow day! The skies were a brilliant blue which doesn't show up well in the pictures. The white balance was off on my camera so had to doctor the pictures a little bit to get them to show up well!

Hoping to Stay Current!

My goal is to stay current on my scrapbooks in 2011. I used to be so good about this when my kids were small and life was uncomplicated! Now I am more than a few years behind and quickly forgetting the story behind the pictures. The easiest way I could figure out to stay current was to use my scrapbooking program (SBC+ from Creative Memories) and make a digital page with each set of pictures taken. (I have also printed the pages off to put in an album!) Amazing...it has worked and so far 6 weeks in to the year I am completely current. Of course I haven't taken a ton of pictures yet but so far I have done these 4 pages!

Jackson's Baptism

Jackson got baptized today! He made the choice to tell everyone that he was a follower of Christ by being baptized in our morning service! We were so proud of him as he took that step of obedience & faith!

Afterward we had a luncheon with a few of our friends to celebrate!

Wild Things

Ainsley's class was part of the 3rd & 4th grade production of the musical "Wild Things". It was a very cute program full of songs about what animals might do in a zoo after it closes for the night.

She made this picture of a "mouse" in art to go along with the theme.

We had trouble getting many good pictures of her. She kept losing her shoe down in the bleachers and would disappear to get it.

Her teacher was really getting in to the "Raptor Rap"! We loved watching him dance with the kids. He said he dressed so brightly to assure that no one would miss him!!

She also got glasses and wore them to school for the first time yesterday! We think she looks beautiful in them! (I think she actually looks a lot like my mom in them from a distance.)

Jackson's Interview

Jackson's science teacher had an assignment for a class she is taking to interview a student about science and asked Jackson to be her interviewee. She just posted the interview on her podcast here that you can check out if you have nothing better to do for 10 minutes or so! (And honestly I am sure only his grandma will be interested!) I was impressed with his answers!

Savings

My kids think my part time job is saving money! Today I bought these items at Walgreens which would have been $48.08 if I had paid full price for them including tax. I only paid $3.41. Plus I got $7 in rebates to be used on my next shopping trip. In essence I got this stuff for free and made just under $4.

NJHS Induction Ceremony

Jackson was chosen by his 6th grade teachers to be inducted in to the National Junior Honor Society. They based the selection on grades, test scores, attitude and overall behavior.

Last week was the induction ceremony at our school and he was one of sixteen inducted.

It was a very nice ceremony. Mrs. Freese is one of the sponsoring teachers as well as his social studies teacher this year.Mrs. Milligan is another sponsoring teacher. She teaches 8th grade math.

Mr. Smits is the main sponsoring teacher. He is Jackson's math teacher this year.

Mr. Holloway (Jackson's 4th grade teacher and Ainsley's 3rd & 4th grade teacher) was quick to take ownership of Jackson's accomplishment! He was quite proud of the group as quite a few of the inductees had been in his class. Mr. Holloway is one of those teachers who has teaching in his blood! Definitely a Master Teacher!
Jackson is a great kid and we couldn't be prouder of him! Thank you God for blessing us with him!
