I Am~

Today I am sharing the OTHER layout I created while I was at the Gadget Girls Spring Mega Crop at the end of March. Yes, you read that right....I created a whopping 2 layouts the entire weekend.
But let me tell you....I had a great time with my crafty friends!

I'm just going to say it...I love this layout. It features a photo of Margaret on Brackley Beach, PEI...just at sunset at the end of a great day. Dreaming of warmer weather and clearer skies!

I have said it before and I will say it again....I love the I Am collection from Simple Stories. It's oh so pretty patterns and gorgeous hints of gold.

"I am seeing the beauty in the everyday"

I love all of the little accents from the collection.

The little chipboard frames can add so much interest, just being layered on each other.

Thanks so much for stopping by to check out my I Am creation.

Craft Lightning: Teacher Appreciation~

So happy to be back in action with the Craft Lightning Blogger Team!
What is Craft Lightning you might ask? Well from time to time, a group of talented crafty bloggers get together and share ideas for projects that should take 15 minutes or less to create....minus drying time if that applies.
We know that many people out there have a hard time fitting family craft projects into their busy schedules. So 15 minutes is very doable!

Our theme this time around is Teacher Appreciation. It's that time of year already where things are starting to wrap up. Whether it be piano lessons, school sports and of course the end of the school year is fast approaching. So we are sharing quick and easy project ideas for all of those special teachers out there.

A big Thank You to The Country Chic Cottage and 30 Minute Crafts for having me back with Craft Lightning!
My project is TEA themed. Myself, I am not a coffee drinker. So I created a project for all of those tea drinking teachers out there.

It's easy, I found a nice little vintage tea cup and saucer. Fill it with some tea favourites. Then I added a cute little tag using some fabulous May Arts Ribbon. The tag itself took no time. I simply used some scraps and pieces from my papercrafting stash, some letter stickers and words, and a little handwriting.

Have fun with your saying and lettering to make yours personal to your teacher.

She's So Pretty~

Today I am doing a quick share of a layout that I created while at the Spring Gadget Girl's Mega Crop at the end of March.

All I can tell you about this layout is that, when I took this photo I was desperately trying to take a PRETTY picture of our crazy pooch Kya. The scene was set, a beautiful day on a beach in PEI, with absolutely no one else around. An old lobster trap laying in the sand surrounded by beach grass. Kya was wearing her pretty scarf given to her by her Nanny McLennon.

But...alas....this is the best photo I could get.
A sand covered face, driftwood stick breaking in half in her mouth....looking crazy.
So I thought I would create an ultra feminine layout, that would be perfect for a great photo.

I used the Burlap & Bows collection from Fancy Pants.

I adore these sparkly flowers from Petaloo.

And of course the perfect title.

Thank you so much for stopping by to listen to my story :)

My Creative Scrapbook April Reveal~

Some of you may remember that a couple of months ago I was the Guest Designer for My Creative Scrapbook. They are a monthly kit club. They put together kits of fabulous new products with a little bit of everything for you to create from.

Well, this month I was asked to become one of their talented Design Team!
I am so excited to create along side them every month!

I don't know about you, but I LOVE to travel to crops with all of my crafty friends.
But one of the biggest tasks is to pack....what to pack!?!
I love to bring kits. They have EVERYTHING in one bag, I just throw in the photos I would like to use.

This is a photo of the April Main Kit, that I created from.

This kit includes patterned papers, and embellishments from the American Crafts, Rise & Shine Collection.
For all of my Canadian followers, shipping is only $12 for us. A pretty good deal! Check out the subscription details HERE.
Here are a couple of my projects that I created using this fun and bright collection.

This collection was perfect for such a sweet photo.
I added a little bit of May Arts burlap string and some buttons of course.

I created a border of sorts at the top and bottom using handwriting and stickers.

The second layout I used a black and white photo of dear friends, that way I could play up the layout with some of the bolder, brighter patterns.

I added a few buttons to this layout as well.

Thank you so much for stopping by to see my April Main Kit Reveal for My Creative Scrapbook! Stay tuned for more projects from this kit!

Kaisercraft Design Team 2015 Entry~

Today I am sharing 3 projects that I have recently created using products from the always fabulous Kaisercraft! This is a post showcasing my creative style, with hopes of joining Kaisercraft's so very talented Design Team for 2015/2016.

So let's get started!
First is a layout that I created last month for May Arts Ribbon, as a hop along with Epiphany Crafts. I used the bright and beautiful Shine Bright Collection.

I adore this bright and brilliant collection, it is just so eye catching!

My second project is a card that would be great for a masculine birthday or even graduation.
It showcases both the Close Up and Mister Fox Collections.

I would classify my style as Clean & Classic. I love to mix and match patterns, elements and textures.

My third project is an altered balsa wood canvas.
This pretty and sweet wooden canvas features the All That Glitters Collection.

Project Recipe:

  • All That Glitters Collection
  • 8x10 Balsa Wood Canvas
  • Wood Veneer Frame
  • DecoArt Dazzlin Metallics Gold and Multi Surface Satin Ivory paints
  • Gold Liquid Pearls
  • May Arts Ribbon: Teal 1.5" Silk Ribbon and Pink Burlap String
  • Cardstock
  • Glitter paper
  • Gold Sequins and Mint Pearl stickers

The 1.5" silk  ribbon ties so nicely for altered projects.

Thank you so much for stopping by to check out my Kaisercraft Design Team Entry! I love to create and I love to share!

Autism Awareness with May Arts Ribbon~

International Autism Awareness Day is something that is near and dear to the hearts of all of us at May Arts Ribbon. SO we have prepared some creative projects to share and spread the word on behalf of Autism Awareness.

I decided to create this card using Sheer Royal Blue Ribbon.

I simply added a single knot to each piece of ribbon and attached it to the front panel of white cardstock.

I used a little bit of patterned paper from Teresa Collins Designs to add a little bit of sparkle.

Thank you so much for stopping by to check out my creation. Thank you for every click, share and pin for spreading the word on behalf of International Autism Awareness Day.

Journey of My Art Journal: Getting Started~

I have wanted to start an art journal for some time, it was something that definitely sparked my interest. I had walked by this exact Art Journal for months at The Cutting Garden, but the weekend of the Spring Gadget Girls Retreat I finally gave in.

Before papercrafting I loved to draw, doodle and paint. I miss it from time to time.
So far, it has been exactly what I wanted it to be, another creative outlet.

I wasn't exactly sure how to start my journal. So I went back to what I was comfortable with back in the day, and that was a black art pen.
That is more than likely how these pages will stay. My plan is to copy the pages and colour them when I feel like it. Like an adult colouring book.

My first page, I went a little doodle crazy. But I still love it!

Second was a little bit of East Coast love, and the S.S. McLennon.

Each page I draw is a new favourite.

Then my first double page. A quote that I will now continue to repeat until there is NOT 5 feet of snow in the yard.
I'm sure like everything my pages will evolve and incorporate different mediums, but for now I am loving it!
Thanks for stopping by, and seeing those first few pages in my Art Journal.

Recycled Crafts for Kids & Teens~

I am so excited to be back and crafting along with many others for Craft Lightning.
Craft Lightning is a round-up of crafts of a specific theme that will take approximately 15 minutes to create, not including drying time.
I've had so much fun each time creating these quick and fun crafts! It doesn't have to take a ton of time to create, so we're trying to inspire and make it easier for even the busiest of households to include crafting in their day!
A big THANK YOU to The Country Chic Cottage and 30 Minute Crafts for including me once again!
Our theme this time around is Recycled Kids Crafts, I added the Teens to mine....as I thought my project would be cute in a younger or even teen child's room.

The project I created are sweet little jewelry holders, to showcase those favourite little items.

The recycled portion of my project is that I used old wooden spools as a part of the base of two of the frames. Also on the bases are recycled cork coasters. The earring hangers are actually made using pop/soda can tabs. Most every household probably has a couple of these at the ready.

Project Recipe:

I picked up the sweet little mini frames as well as that cute little birdcage at Michaels.

The cork coaster base adds stability to the raised mini frame as well as a place for your favourite watch or bracelets.
