2 Halloween Scrapbook Layouts - 2 Totally Different Looks.

How do you capture your Halloween Memories?  I like to take several approaches and today I am going to share a couple of them!  One with a traditional Halloween feel to it using Halloween products and one capturing Halloween without Halloween products!  Join me as I share 2 Halloween Scrapbook Layouts with 2 Totally Different Looks!  Both pages comes from products that came in The ScrapRoom kit this month!

Traditional Approach

Although I kept this clean and simple, I was still able to add some technique into it!  I used a white pen to really bring out the background and up the eeery look.  My process video for this one walks you thru the creation of it and shows the details I added:

Here's my supply list for this one including Affiliate Thumbnails:

Non-Traditional Halloween Layout
This one looks totally different from the above doesn't it!?!  I used the "Boys Fort" collection from PinkFresh Studios to make this one.  In fact as soon as I saw it, I knew it would be perfect for a Superman layout!  Here's the process video to walk you thru this one:

This one is again, fairly simple, but still packed with detail and techniques!  Here's the supply list with affiliate thumbnails for this one:

Hope you are having as much fun Halloween Scrapping as I am!

10 Halloween Scrapbook Layout Ideas & Tips

If you are like me, those repeat holidays can get somewhat challenging to scrapbook!  Every year, same ideas, same color scheme, etc...Join me today as I walk you thru 10 Halloween Scrapbook Layout Ideas and Tips to help keep things fresh.  First up I have a video walk-thru and then check them out up close below that.

10 Halloween Scrapbook Layout Ideas & Tips Video

Up Close Halloween Layout Ideas
Tip Number 1: If you don't have Halloween Supplies pull out some neutral pieces in the right colors from your stash.  This entire layout has nothing "Halloween themed" on it aside from the cut file I used for the title. The rest is pulled from Purples, Oranges, and Blacks in my Stash.

Tip Number 2: Personalize a collection with cut files, punches, stamps or metal dies.  You can keep a layout from looking like everybody else's by personalizing it with your tools.  You can find tons of fun metal dies here and stamps here.

Tip Number 3: If you are low on your supplies - use a clear Halloween base for your layout and then build it up with neutral pieces.  My base page is here is clearly for Halloween - the rest makes it even better!

Tip Number 4: Base the whole layout on the colors in the costume not Halloween Colors.  For this layout I went with that turquoise color that you can see in his monster costume and just added Halloween embellishments that played up the theme.

Tip Number 5: Multiphoto layouts are so common for Halloween - add small embellishments on multi-photo layouts so that the photos are the star.

Tip Number 6: Bail on Halloween completely and do the whole layout based on their costume.  Oftentimes the costume has nothing to do with Halloween and is just a fun theme to work with.

Tip Number 7: Play with Words for your Title - think catchy phrases that don't have anything to do with Halloween.  Part of why I love this layout is because the title is something we say all the time "Something Stinks."

Tip Number 8: Much like the last tip but on this one I say bail on Halloween and focus on Autumn. This works especially well for playing down the spookiness of Halloween.

Tip Number 9: Focus on the shapes of Halloween like I did here mimicking the moon.  Think pumpkins, crescents, triangles for candy corn...the options are endless!

Tip Number 10: Shape your pictures!  As you can see here I went with the ideas of eyeballs and shaped my pictures to match that.

Boos & Brews Halloween Cards for Doodlebug

Halloween is one of my favorite crafty seasons of the year so I am always excited to play with everything and make cards, home decor, and of course layouts! I am up today at Doodlebug and have a trio of cards to share with you that I created using the Boos and Brews Collection!

How fun is that mad scientist!?!  This paper actually originally said "I'm mad about Candy" but I changed it to say you so it would work for a card.  Although, in most cases, both are probably true!

I used the splatters from the Odds & Ends to be my base for the word "you" and outlined those in black to make them pop a little more.

"May I be Frank" just made me giggle so I knew it had to go on a card!  Doodlebug rocks punny phrases and words in every collection!

The Eerie Eyes Shape Sprinkles are the best embellishment....grab them while you can and up the fun factor on your projects! I used them throughout my cards!

I'm loving the Cute Clips in the Doodlebug's Collections as well.  They make such a nice accent and the shapes are so clever!

For this card I did layers of the patterned paper and then added the monsters.  The mummy is a Doodle-Pop and the others are from the Icons Sticker Sheet.

The Monster Mash label actually comes from a patterned paper in the collection. That paper is covered with all kinds of labels perfect for embellishing or adding labels to your own spooky brews!

Don't miss out on this fun collection...there's bits and pieces for everyone in it!

Too Cute To Spook: Using Multiple Cut Files on a Layout

Using lots of cut files on a layout doesn't have to be scary or complicated and this week we were challenged at Just Nick to use at least four!  It took a little more precise planning than I usually do but it wasn't too difficult to do!  I think JustNick files definitely make it easier to do this as she has so many words

I started off using one of my favorite files the Brick Circle Background.  In this case I used it as a way to pull in some extra color and texture to my background.  That extra orange really helps my pictures pop off the page!
The Handcut Letters 2 are so unique and kind of fit with my "tiger" title because of the stripe!  The bats come from the brand new Spooky Stuff file.  I folded their wings up to give them some added dimension.
The Doodle Frames were perfect for mounting over my pictures and adding another pop of color. He certainly is Too Cute to Spook and I think he will be just that again this year!  Have fun experimenting with multiple cut files - you never know how great they can look until you give it a try!

Happy Halloween Layout

Hard to believe Halloween is coming quickly and it's gonna be time to move on to other fall crafts! Before that I still have a little more Halloween crafting in me to share!  Today it is a layout on the Samantha Walker Blog.
My tutorial there today focuses on title work and using the negative space when you have a more complicated negative space than usual (eg spider webs). If you want to see a quick little tip that doesn't require you to have extra supplies, check it out over there. After doing my title work pretty much in the center, I decided to do pictures below it and continue to build up my title above. I hand cut a cute little ghost to add and used SRM Border stickers as an accent piece throughout.  I think I am finally done scrapping 2012's Halloween pictures - now to finish off that pile from 2013 :)

Supplies Used:
Patterned Paper: Doodlebug Design, Pebbles Inc
Stickers: SRM Stickers, American Crafts
Cardstock & Tags: Core'dinations

Monster Bash Home Decor

Paper House Productions has some of the cutest and spookiest stuff for Halloween.  Today I am sharing a little home decor I made using their 3D Stickers.

My frame is a simple 5 X 7 one from a dollar store.  I added a cloudy vellum to the background of the frame - I like this vellum because it looks kind of like fog - has distressed areas that make it different from a traditional vellum.  I then used the large Haunted House for my base and added Monsters and other 3D stickers to that.  I can't get enough of any of there monster stickers, so I jumped on the chance to use these ones too!

Supplies Used:
Stickers: Paper House Productions
Vellum: CutCardStock

Samantha Walker Creative Crafters Team Blog Hop: Halloween

Welcome to the
Samantha Walker Creative Crafters Team Blog Hop!
You should have arrived here from Nicole Stark's Blog!

For my project this month I used the same cut file to create two different cards - this was so much fun!
I used Card Halloween & Bats (#49920) and kept some things the same but made others different.

I love the look of a 3D card that has some transparency to the front.  To create this card I simply opted to leave out the square of cardstock behind the front cut.  I also turned it to be a vertical card.  I decorated it using the bats that are part of the file.  Outlining them with black stickles made them more dimensional.  I also added some simple stars and gems and surrounded them with white sentiment stickers.  I cut out the Eeeeek from cut file #33314 which has a whole series of fun Halloween words!

I cut the base of this card from a vellum cardstock that has a blurry feel to it - I thought it looked like spooky clouds!  I added gray under the vellum.  The bats and embellishments are all similar to the other card but has different words.  Have you ever tried cutting out a card and using different mediums?  This was really fun and a good mojo burst for me!  I am also going to share this on the SRM Challenge Blog!  Have you played along there yet?  You know I love their stickers :)!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock: Core'dinations
Stickers: SRM Stickers
Vellum: CutCardStock
Patterned Paper: Carta Bella
