Hey There

Hi everyone, March has certainly crept in quite nicely and once again I have embraced this months Moodboard.

What can I say about these Lucky Findings Imagery's, they are a true statement to my projects and Missy jumbo is no exception.  Along side with some graph paper, HS puffy stickers, 49 & Market washi tape to bring this all together.

I enjoy creating subtle layouts when using cool colours as this months Moodboard suggests.

Hope you get to have some creative time and TFL.

Hello Harrison by Tracey B

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday

here's another LO based loosely on this month's mood board.

This is my third great great nephew - love this beautiful peaceful photo

I started with a waste not page (a term I use for all the pages I accumulate using left over medium - I usually have 2 or 3 pages in different colour ways going at a time and it gives me a great head start for a background - and I don't waste any valuable product)

Other products I used include

Heidi Swapp vintage alphas & sewing machine
My Minds Eye enamel dots

When the Night is Darkest”

This mixed-media piece is a stunning interplay of elegance, mystery, and resilience. With a dreamlike central figure and an opulent background, it conveys a message of hope and transformation, reflected in the poignant phrase: “When the night is darkest, dawn is nearest.”

Key Features:

1. Ethereal Central Figure: A delicate doll-like woman adorned with a vibrant lotus flower headdress stands as the focal point, symbolizing rebirth, enlightenment, and growth. Her voluminous, textured blue gown appears to merge with the background, evoking fluidity and depth.

2. Luxurious Baroque Background: The ornate gold and black damask pattern contrasts beautifully with the raw, painterly textures, creating a blend of refinement and artistic spontaneity.

3. Expressive Mixed Media Layers: Bold splashes of blue, pink, and black are applied with a free-spirited approach, balancing structure with creativity. The hand-painted white accents and distressed textures add a sense of depth and movement.

4. Typography & Message: The phrase “When the night is darkest, dawn is nearest.” reinforces themes of resilience and optimism, making this piece both visually and emotionally compelling.

5. Contrast & Balance: The interplay between structured pa/tterns and expressive, organic textures makes this design a perfect metaphor for finding beauty in chaos.

Overall Mood & Inspiration:

This artwork embodies a poetic fusion of strength and grace, making it ideal for storytelling, art journaling, or as a visual reminder of hope and transformation.

March Field Note Kit has been released……..

Oceanography Field Notes March 2025

This mixed-media project, part of the Foragers Field Note Series, is an immersive journey into the depths of marine exploration. The Oceanography theme is beautifully executed through layered textures, oceanic color schemes, and intricate details, making this a captivating and tactile experience for journalers and artists alike.

1. Nautical & Scientific Theme:

The Oceanology Field Notes journal cover prominently features an octopus illustration, evoking mystery and the vastness of the deep sea.

Maps, marine charts, and scientific references add an educational and exploratory touch, making it feel like a true field journal.

2. Textural & Dimensional Elements:

The journal cover incorporates various media such as stitched details, layered collage pieces, and embossed effects, enhancing its tactile nature.

The inclusion of beads and metallic embellishments adds depth and an artifact-like quality to the project.

3. Rich Colour Palette & Artistic Layers:

Deep blues, rusty oranges, and muted vintage tones mimic the natural hues of the ocean and aged nautical maps.

Hand-drawn elements such as water ripple patterns and scientific bottle sketches add authenticity and whimsy.

4. Interactive Features & Journal Functionality:

Inside, hand-drawn and collaged pages create a mix of functional note-taking space and artistic inspiration.

Pockets, pull-outs, and stitched-in ephemera make this journal dynamic and versatile.

5. Typography & Branding:

The title Oceanography Marine Life is styled in elegant, scientific-inspired fonts, reinforcing the field journal.

“Creating Opportunities”

This mixed-media piece is a striking fusion of bold expression and personal empowerment. The vibrant composition, rich in texture and symbolism, reinforces the inspiring message: “Opportunities don’t happen. You create them.”

Key Features:

1. Empowering Central Figure: The focal image of a woman with piercing blue eyes and a butterfly wing seamlessly blended into her hair symbolizes personal transformation, growth, and self-made opportunities.

2. Butterfly Motif & Symbolism: Multiple butterflies in shades of orange and black surround the composition, representing change, evolution, and the power of taking control of one’s destiny.

3. Dynamic Background Layers:

      •   Bold Abstract Paint Strokes: A rich mix of reds, oranges, yellows, and pinks adds warmth, energy, and movement.

      •   Grid & Geometric Elements: Black-and-white grid lines and dots contrast the organic flow of the paint, adding structure and a contemporary edge.

      •   Ornate Details: Baroque-style embellishments subtly frame the image, reinforcing a sense of elegance and artistic flair.

4. Typography & Message: The statement “Opportunities don’t happen. You create them.” is broken into fragmented, typewriter-style pieces, reinforcing the theme of constructing one’s future step by step.

Overall Mood & Inspiration:

This piece serves as a reminder that success and growth stem from self-initiative and vision. With a bold aesthetic and uplifting message, it’s perfect for mixed-media enthusiasts, art journalers, and scrapbookers who embrace transformation and creative.
