Februay Crop

Our February crop is tomorrow, the 1st of the month - it's very early, due to various other activities going on in the Village Hall, but we are looking forward to a day of scrapping, chatting and cake-eating!  This month's kit has a rainbow of colours...

Make A Wish - Scrapbook Layout using Kaisercraft 'Oh Happy Day'

Hello, Rebecca back with you with another 12x12 layout created using the 'Oh Happy Day' Collection by Kaisercraft.

For the background of this layout I have used one of the plain bazzill cardstock sheets from the Matchmaker Pack, bordered on two edges at an angle with the '100s and 1000s' patterned paper. I'm pushing myself out of my comfort zone a little this year and trying to use more coloured and patterned papers for my backgrounds instead of my usual white.

I hand drew a cake on white card and cut it out to make my own cut file - I don't have a fancy cutting machine... can you tell?! I then used three of the patterned papers to back my 'cut file' (Party Popper, Yay and Bright Bursts).

I fussy cut three of the candles from the Party Popper patterned paper to sit on top of the cake and popped these up on foam dots to add dimension.

I mounted my photo on the coral side of the Garlands patterned paper as the coral colour is featured in the papers used for the cake, so it added some of this colour to the opposite side of the layout. I cut a couple of the 'cut apart' cards from the Bright Bursts patterned paper and used them to fill the space on the right hand side of the page. I mounted one on white card to co-ordinate with the cake 'cut file' and the other, I drew around using my Uniball Signo white pen to help it stand out a bit more.

I fussy cut a couple of the gardlands from the Garlands patterned paper and added them to the top right hand corner of the layout.

I added some star shaped acrylic perspectives from my stash, but felt like the layout needed some more gold to tie in with the foil on the patterned papers. I used gold embossing powder on a piece of scrap card and then punched some tiny stars out and added them along the angled edges of the background cardstock to finish.

The Muttcracker by Photoplay - May your days be Furry & Bright

Hello, Karen C here with you today to share another layout using The Muttcracker collection from Photoplay. The Muttcracker collection is a bright primary coloured Christmas collection and  perfect for scrapbooking festive photos of your furry friends. I used a photo taken Christmas 2018 by my daughter when she was playing around with some Snapchat filters.

I started my layout by trimming a quarter of an inch off of each side of a sheet of the Feliz Navidog paper and matted this onto a sheet of white cardstock. I machine stitched round the edges using white thread.

Two large Christmas trees were cut from white cardstock using a template from the Silhouette Studio and the 'baubles' on the trees were backed with scraps of cardstock which matched The Muttcracker collection. The trees were then attached to the layout using foam to raise them up. Two torn strips of white cardstock were placed at the bottom of the layout to give the impression of fallen snow.

My photo was printed at roughly 7.5" x 4". I matted the photo with white cardstock and then placed it on top of the Christmas trees and added some red photo corners.

To embellish the layout I fussy cut some of the dogs from the Countdown paper. The images were matted onto white card and I then stuck them in groups  along the bottom of the layout on foam to add dimension.

The dog with the reindeer antlers and scarf was so like my dog that it was the perfect embellishment. A few stickers from the Element Sticker sheet were also added.

A border sticker from the sticker sheet was stuck to the top of the layout.

Foam letter stickers from Pink Paislee were used to make the title.

The layout was finished off with a few sequins and letter stickers from Websters were used to add the date.

Lady Like..... Kaisercraft.

Hello, Anita here with you today.

 I have working with the beautiful collection by Kaisercraft called Lady Like. A soft delicate collection with beautiful roses and various ephemera in soft pinks, greys and greens. Sadly my photos do not depict the colours very well which is a great shame but they really are very pretty in real life! I used a photo taken last summer on the seafront at Bexhill, we often go for a walk along the front and feel lucky to have the coast a relatively short drive away from where we live.

I gutted the centre out of a sheet of  DELORES and then added a sheet of white bazzill cardstock which I had trimmed to 11.5" x 11.5" square, leaving the sheet of Delores showing to create a frame. With the piece I gutted out I drew round a plate and cut a ring that I popped to one side whilst I created the background on the cardstock.


I have recently properly discovered the joys of working with Infusions powders!!Oh my goodness what fun they are! I know I am late to the Infusions party.... but I am enjoying it now I am there!
If you haven't tried them before then you really need to....they are pepper like in substance and you just sprinkle them where ever you want colour and spray mist with water! I used Blackcurrant Infusions
I made a pin prick hole in the top of the lid and keep it safe by leaving the pin in the lid whilst not in use. Paperartsy Infusions are a Water based colour stain that are water soluble particles with 2 components: dye colour pigment suitable for paper/ fabric mixed with walnut stain. The dye colour spreads quicker with the water than the walnut stain so you need to spray more if you want the walnut to spread aswell.
Really lovely to spray away and watch the colours grow and spread.... and you can create such pretty backgrounds. I will certainly be using more of these!!

Once I the background had dried out fully I stuck the ring on and set about lots of fussy cutting elements from the sheets of PATSY and ROSE. Lots of flowers, leaves and various ephemera to choose from.

I pretty much cut every item I could find and then laid them out to see what I had and picked the bits I liked best. The rest went to one side for another layout to use up the left overs.

I started with half a small glittery gold doily and then layered various bits and bobs around my photo and then around the ring too.

The good thing with the fussy cut flowers is that you can poke them in randomly here and there and build up your design. Even if you have only half a flower it can be used and if you sit it next to a straight edge ( ie the photo mat) it then looks like its layered behind the photo...and saves throwing those bits away.

I love to add a little bit of bling to my layouts when I can, so I popped a few flat backed AB Crystals around the ring and on the corners of the page.

January Papermaze Kit

Happy New Year Scrappers!  Lynn here today with the first Monthly Papermaze Kit for the year 2020. As always, Vanessa has put together a delightful kit containing 6 quality double-sided papers, two sheets of Bazzill and a bag of gorgeous embellishments to compliment them. Smile - My first layout is a photograph from my daughter's wedding last summer.

This layout was inspired by one of my favourite scrapbookers - Gabrielle Polloco, and her romantic layout, I spotted some years ago.

All the inking for this layout was done with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

I started by gutting a sheet of Birchtone Dark Bazzill. Then I trimmed the 'Tags' paper, by heavily distressing the edges and then inking them. I also gutted the Lagoon Bazzill, and set aside the frame for another layout and used the remainder for die cuts for this layout.

After making a heart shaped template approx. 10" deep and 10" tall, I drew around this template onto the centre of the paper (stripe side) and carefully cut this shape away using a craft knife. Then I drew around the template again onto the 'Falling Snow' paper (dot side), and cut this shape out.

I attached the Bazzill frame and the stripe paper onto a scrap sheet of 12" x 12" paper as a base.

With the 'Through The Woods' paper (horizontal wood panel side) I cut a piece 12" x 4.5", distressed and inked the edges. Then this was placed across the middle of the page.

I trimmed the dotty heart shape with some cotton lace from my stash. I glued this to the back so it peeps out from underneath. The decorated heart was then applied over the heart shaped gap in the stripe paper.

I took three small white paper doilies from my stash and arranged them over the heart. Then I wrapped some 1 1/2" wide ribbon over the layout from both sides and tied a bow arranged to lie to the left of the photo. I mounted the photo onto another piece of 'Through The Woods' paper and attached to the layout using foam tape.

Next came all the die cutting! I cut flowers, a branch and leaves using the Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits die set - Funky Floral Large and the title with the Shadow Script #2 set. Then I cut a fence panel using a Crafter's Companion Die - from the Fence and Gate set. The latter was embossed with clear embossing powder. For all these die cuts I used Lagoon, Aqua and Birchtone Dark Bazzill (from the kit) and some pale pink scraps from my stash. The flowers were inked and layered up around the photo.


Mendham Wheelbarrow Competition - We are new to the village here in Mendham and last summer we were asked to join in the wheelbarrow competition. This photo was taken when we first planted up the barrow, a few months before the judging. 

As a base for this layout I used the sheet of Stonehenge Bazzill. Then I took the 'Leaves' paper and carefully cut the wooden border off and mitered the corners. Then I distressed and inked the edges before reconstructing the frame onto the Bazzill. 

The rest of the paper was cut in half (keeping the planks horizontal). I turned one half so the leaves were uppermost, distressed and inked the edges then applied it to the top half of the page. For the other piece with the plank side uppermost, I cut all the planks apart, distressed and inked them, then placed them onto the bottom half of the layout. I only added glue to the ends of the planks to leave me room to tuck the tags in later.

I added some of the strip of mesh along the join in the middle of the layout. Then I mounted the photo onto a piece of Aqua Bazzill cardstock, attaching it to the layout with some foam tape.

I created the title next, using the Sn@p letter stickers from the kit and some Pink Fresh Studio Indigo Hills #2 mini puffy alpha stickers. Once these were in position I knew where I could add the tags. With the scraps from the 'Tags' paper, I trimmed some of the tags inked the edges and made holes in the tops. These were tucked in-between the planks, then I tied some jute twine through the holes in the tags.

Finally I added brads to the corners of the frame and the two bark butterflies to the top right of the layout.

Simple Stories ~ Holly Jolly #2

Hello and a Happy New Year to you! It's Anna back with you today, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. I haven't quite finished spreading festive cheer, so I have another layout to share with you using the Simple Stories Holly Jolly collection.

I began by using a sheet of white 12x12 bazzill as my base. I then cut a strip of Peace & Joy and adhered it to left side of the cardstock. I then tore 12inch strips of the Seasons Greetings and the reverse side of Peace and Joy, placing them along side each other. I matted my photo on a piece of red bazzill cardstock.

I used a Scrapiniec Chipboard Christmas tree and decorated it using embossing powder and nuvo drops.

I finished my layout using the Combo Stickers.

Capture This Moment - Scrapbook Layout using Kaisercraft Oh Happy Day

Hello, Rebecca with you today with my first layout of 2020 which I have created using the Kaisercraft Oh Happy Day Collection. This collection was perfect for me as my little boy turned 3 last week and I actually did something I've never done before - I started this layout before I'd even taken the photos!

The papers in this collection have gold foil accents so I knew from the beginning that I wanted to have a lot of gold featuring on this layout. I started by tearing a section of the 'Yay' patterned paper to run horizontally across my layout. I wanted to have torn edges on the papers to reflect the fact that I knew my photos would be of my little boy tearing open the wrapping paper on his birthday presents.

I really couldn't decide at this point whether to have a white background, or to use the blue co-ordinating bazzill cardstock. I decided to go with white as I wasn't sure at this stage whether or not I wanted to add any mixed media onto the background. I felt that I needed some plain paper in a darker colour to help the 'Yay' paper pop more against the white, so I tore some strips of the blue bazzill cardstock and added it behind the patterned paper. I raised the patterned paper on foam dots to add a little dimension to the layout.

I left the layout here, and came back to it once I had my photos. I mounted them both onto white card and then again on the same blue bazzill cardstock to help them stand out more against the busy patterned paper. I then cut one of the tags from the 'Bright Bursts' patterned paper as the blue matched well with the bazzill cardstock. I mounted it on white card and punched a whole to add some string.

I then cut out a present from the same patterned paper and also a coral/pink ticket and some party hats from the 'Party Popper' patterned paper. I stuck some of these onto the layout using foam dots to help them sit off the page a little bit.

I decided I wanted more gold on the layout so I pulled out a gold embossing powder and my heat gun. I had a lovely chipboard title from Dusty Attic which can be found here and I also had some wooden presents in my stash and I heat embossed both of these to make them a glittery gold.

I felt like the title needed something more around it so I used the branding strip from one of the patterned papers as the colours matched well and it said 'It was the best birthday ever' which I thought fitted well. I mounted this strip onto the blue bazzill cardstock and added it under my title. I finished the layout with some peppermint twist sprinkles enamel dots by Doodlebug Design.

I hope you've enjoyed this layout. It was my very first of 2020, so here's to a brand new year full of scrapping!

Let's Go - With Lisa

Hi, Lisa here!
I've been in need of some colourful scrapbooking.
So I delved back in to my Pinkfresh Studio Scraps. I think this line here 'Out & About' may have been my favourite collection of 2019.

I love how happy this background is. I really wanted it to play a big part of my page, so decided to add my photos along the bottom.

I really like this way of adding a few photos to my page as it doesn't feel crowded. This paper line has so many fun features on the papers to cut out and use for journaling and embellishing.

I love layering them around my photos. If you aren't a big fan of journaling it's a great way to add little bits here and there.

I also never felt the need for a big title as I felt all the bits and pieces I added throughout the page did the job for me.

I'm so pleased with how this page turned out.
It's documented a really fun day.

The first crop of 2020!

Happy New Year everyone!  We're back to our monthly crops, and to kick us off in a brand new decade, we have a bright and cheerful layout designed by Janina for our kit.

It's at our usual venue of Otley Village Hall from 10am until 5pm and as well as the delicious array of cakes, there'll be punches and dies for you to use... and don't forget the January sale in the shop!

December Papermaze Kit - Part 3

Hello and Happy New Year! Lynn here today with a third pair of Christmas layouts made with the December Papermaze kit. For me this kit has been amazing value for money, I have just added an extra sheet of Bazzill to create a total of six pages. Extra Matched Bazzil Cardstock Pack

The extra Bazzill pack is made up of Butter Mints, Mocha Divine, Safari, Grenadine.

Embellishments include: Doily, exclusive star stencil, 50cm twine, 2 paper fern leaves, Prima paper flower, 2 heart buttons, 3 tiny paper roses glittery chipboard star, 20cm lace with velvet ribbon &  strip dots. 

Holly Fairy - This layout was made to celebrate the costume Emily and I made for her to wear for Book Week in the year 2000.

 Starting with the Mocha Divine Bazzill, I gutted the card to give me a frame 4cm deep. Then with an extra sheet of cream Bazzill, trimmed to 26cm x 26cm I used the Cherish - Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page set to create a border. With green embroidery thread I stitched around the punched design, tying a small bow with the ends.

Using some of the Mocha Divine Bazzill left over, I mounted my large photo. Then I cut the three small photos to measure 4cm x 4cm.


With scraps from Rejoice #22, Home for the Holidays & Cozy Christmas I cut more pieces 4cm x 4cm. I arranged all these small squares into a grid on the cream card. 

I cut two branches from Safari Bazzill with the Sizzix Holiday Greens Thinlits set. I dabbed them with some Versamark Ink and embossed them with a little Stampendous Frantage Shabby White Embossing Enamel. I applied these to the layout and added the self adhesive domes from the kit as berries.

I used the Bigz XL Handmade lettering die to cut my title from scraps of cream card. These were coloured with Distress Oxide Ink in Forest Green and Aged Mahogany.  Once arranged on the page I added some Crystal Stickles.

Christingle - For my last Christmas layout with the December 2019 kit, I made another layout using this old favourite photo from 1995, when the children were dressed up for the Christingle Service at our local church. I have scrapped this again so I can place a layout in each of the children's scrapbook albums. 

To start off I have used some of the gutted cardstock from previous layouts made from this kit. The outer layer is Fawn, then Grenadine, and the paper cut to 28cm x 28cm, is the burlap print side of the Protea paper. I splattered some Dylusions - Ink Spray - White Linen over the page. 

There was a doily in the kit, which I managed to mess up! - So I have taken one of similar size from my stash and placed it in the centre of the layout. I mounted my photo onto a scrap of Grenadine Bazzill and mounted this towards the bottom of the doily.

Next I die cut seven fir trees with the Woodlands Sizzix Thinlits set. I cut the trees from scraps of Safari and Fawn Bazzill.  They were treated to a coat of Versamark Ink and some Super Sparkle embossing powder. I'm not sure the photo does justice to the amount of sparkle in these trees! I placed the trees around the base of the photo.

I created the title and date with the Wanted Sizzix Sizzlit alphabet die and some scraps of Mocha Divine, which took on a different colour when glitter was added with Crystals Stickles.

I also added some Stickles to three wooden stars from a previous kit and placed them around the doily.
