Design Team Member Stephanie created this layout for the November Sketch Challenge. She used a modified version of sketch #1 for the November challenge. She said, "When I saw the sketches, I knew that I had the perfect moment to scrapbook! These three photos are from our trip to Disneyworld in February and I fell in love with the castle. (Unfortunately, I don't think the hubby would like a book filled with castle layouts!) I knew I needed to make it into an 8x8 which is why I modified the number of images, but there was something else that struck me.
While creating this layout I just knew that I was going to need the perfect "Thickers" to give my title the right emphasis...so, I made my own! I Used a previous Frugal Friday tip that drew me to the SOS Blog! I chose my favorite magical feeling font (It's a Sizzix font called Sunset) and some fun, silver, glittery, self-adhesive foam and created a custom title for my page. The remaining elements are cut from self-adhesive metal that I colored using my Copic markers. In the end, I ended up with a truly homemade, cost effective, memory capturing page! Perfect for someone who just received their first student loan bill in the mail, no?
If you haven't had a chance yet, pull out those crafty supplies and play! There's plenty of time to get in on the November challenge!
-Steph

November Challenge by Wendy
Design Team Member Wendy used Sketch #1 to complete her November Challenge. She said, "I was so excited about this month's challenge. I just love sketches and Helen's are great! I plan to use all of them. The pictures in my layout are from many years ago. With the colors of the Pooh costume I wanted to use something besides the traditional Halloween colors. I pulled this MME stack out of my stash and remembered how much I loved it.
Now it's your turn to take the sketch challenge. See the sketches and all the details in November Challenge below.

November Challenge by Malina
This month's challenge requested that we complete one of three assigned sketches but I chose to do a double layout highlighting the Crop for a Cause which my company, Reflections Keepsakes partnered up with LSS Rochester Scrapbooking Co. to host. In order to stick with the challenge requirements I chose to use two of the sketches and combine them to create a single sketch. I am a huge fan of Becky Fleck who encourages designers to think outside the sketch and manipulate the sketch to meet the needs of the design.
Well, I needed to include some memorabilia such as the thank you card from the organization we were raising funds for and I decided to include the thank you gift and card my business partner and I provided all the Croppers. I also did not have a vertical image so I worked from a horizontal photo. Instead of journaling I made the card my journaling. Instead of flower embellishments I used the keepsake. The title on this page is for the Crop for a Cause we hosted but then I wanted to take it a step further and share what the crop inspired. For the second page and second sketch I really manipulated my images to fit into the design and utilized the sketch journal area to include the sentiment I had written for the cards Reflections made for women to give to other women as a reminder to get a breast exam. This side of the layout tells the second half of the story, after the crop for a cause.
"Pink Scrappers for "Green Papers" became a month long project in which I and my business partner invited the Rochester local scrapbook stores, Rochester Scrapbooking Co. and VIP Scrapbook Gallery' as well as Rochester based internet company Wigham Designs, to raise as much "green paper" as possible for the direct benefit of Breast Cancer patients & their families living in our own community and the Join the Journey organization (learn more about them at http://www.jointhejourney.org/). I needed the story but didn't want to take from the sketch design and so I used the pattern paper panels as well as the first set of photos to hide my journaling. When each panel is lifted the story of Pink Scrappers is told and on the back of each panel I have documented specific things I want to remember such as how much we raised, or specific activities or people associated with the project.
Visit me at http://www.reflectionskeepsakes.blogspot.com/ after November 15th to learn more about what this project accomplished and what it continues to accomplish and how you can be inspired!

Anyone have something they want to Show N' Tell? Send whatever you want to share by email to scrappinpsycho@live.com. SHOW N' TELL SUNDAY - is a forum where you can share anything you want to Show N' Tell. For example a layout you've completed that you'd like to share - but it doesn't fit into the challenges, or maybe a new technique you've tried and want to share, a new purchase, a great bargain, a great picture you've taken, a link to a great blog, a special accomplishment in your life. Anything that you'd like to share. It will be open to anyone who wants to share. Just email me a picture (if possible) and a description to scrappinpsycho@live.com - I'll collect the submissions throughout the week - and then post them on Sunday.
I do retain the right to edit or not include any submissions I deem inapporpriate for this forum.

Show 'N Tell Sunday - by Ren-Yi
It's been about eight months since I started with this paper-crafting obsession. And I find myself always learning something new: a technique, a cool new tool, a new stamping or crafting supply company, a new embellishment.
For fun, here is my first card attempt.
It was a pull out gift card and I remember thinking "I made hand cut grass - this is tedious - isn't there a tool for that?" My second thought "Uh oh - I'm turning into a paper crafts tool junkie. Scissors to fringe the grass is NOT necessary"
To keep myself accountable and give myself a deadline, I try to play along with a few of my challenges. This one was a contribution to the Sweet Stop Sketch #80. Here is the sketch as a reference.
My take? Segment an image and see how it goes ;) I sponged my white card stock to convert it into a tad vintage, added a cute scalloped border and a sentiment on the side - in case the tree was not "festive" enough. Twine & buttons are my favorite embellishments thus far.
I never think anything about it when I enter a challenge, since it is about the fun while creating process. So when I received a comment from Korin, owner of Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, that she had featured my card on the Sweet Sketch Stop Challenge blog, I was just stunned - didn't know what to say. Lil' tiny old me?
Anyways - if you haven't had a chance to check out the Sugar Babies, they make some beautiful creations. Hop over and leave some blog love!
But most importantly - to all you new crafters - it's a growing process! So keep at it. Practice makes perfect after all.

November Challenge by Irit
Guest Design Team Member Irit submitted her take on Helen's sketch. She said, "I used the first one photo sketch #2 and did a pretty "unscripted" take of it. I used butterflies and not flowers, used a journaling enevelope and not a real journaling spot here
I also added some recycled items. I altrered the green Prima packaging with crystals, used some white crackle paint on the 3 brown chipboard birds, and did some faux white pen stitching, a lot of inking and used a 3 part title.

November Challenge by Amy
Design Team Member Amy submitted this layout for the November Sketch Challenge. She used Sketch #1 and this is what she said.
When Kathy announced the challenge for November, i knew i had the perfect pictures for the sketch! I was already envisioning it in my head. :) Previously, i bought Photoshop Elements 8 and have been playing with editing my pictures. I've been focusing on getting more than one photo on a 4x6 photo. These photos were edited to 2X6 size and, therefore making it one print with two photos on it. So, having these on hand made it perfect for this sketch!
I really loved the circle elements, so i decided to make a "stencil" and mist around it. Then i layered my pictures and added all of my embellishments.
Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned Paper: Basic Grey; Mist: Glimmer Mist, Tattered Angels; Punch: Ek Success; Ribbon: Offray; Letters: Echo Park (blue), American Crafts (brown); Flowers: prima; Gems: Queen and Co; Chipboard: Maya Road; Heart: Me and My Big Ideas; Corner Rounder: Marvy Uchida; Pen: Zig, EK Success.
Now it's your turn to take the Sketch Challenge. Just pick one (or more) of the sketches and send a picture of your layout to Scrappinpsycho@live.com along with a description. You could be chosen to be on our January Guest Design Team. See all the details below in November Challenge.

Pagerize This Challenge #3
Let's Eat by Christy is our 3rd Page to be "pagerized" in our "Pagerizie This" Challenge.
Each month on the 15th we will post a new layout for you to "pagerize" (plagerize, copy, lift, steal) whatever term you want to use. The idea will be - to use the posted layout as your inspiration to create your own layout. You can "pagerize" as much or as little of the original layout as you choose. You may want to make a layout just like the one posted - or you may just want to use something about the layout as your inspiration. It's totally up to you.As winner of the Pagerize This Challenge #2 - Christy is our new Pagerizer! This is what she said:
Once you've completed your layout - email a picture and brief description to scrappinpsycho@live.com. All entries will be posted here at Scrap Our Stash. The challenge runs through midnight central time on November 12th. The "Pagerizer" (in this case Christy), will then choose a winner from all the entries. The winner will be announced on November 14th. Then the winner will be asked to submit a layout for us to "Pagerize" starting on the 15th of November. Then on the 12th of December - the winner will be chosen by the winner of the "Pagerize This Challenge #3" and on and on it goes.
So your challenge - if you choose to accept it - is to use Christy's layout as your inspiration.
Winner Christy said:
"WOW...I was so honored to be chosen. I love doing challenges like the Pagerize This Challenge. They allow me to learn new things and to stretch myself from my comfort zone. I really enjoyed using paint on the last challenge. As for this challenge, since it's getting close to Thanksgiving, I thought I would share a recent page I made of last year's dinner.
I used recollections Autumn stack and my EK success punch for the leaves. I actually used both sides of the paper. I cut a circle in the middle and flipped it( yes the blue is the back of the paper), then used the cardstock border and handstitching to hide the cut. I used glossy accents on parts of the die cuts and leaves to make them pop. The border in the center is actually a faux pleated ribbon. I cut the cardstock border into sections and then glued them down of a cardstock strip to make them look pleated.
I am looking forward to seeing what will inspire you...be it the color, the layout, or the theme."
This challenge is in addition to the regular monthly challenge and is open to anyone.

Show N' Tell Sunday by Kathy
Not only did I want to share my layout - which I am very proud of... I also wanted to share the story behind it.
I started dieting on March 21st - and then 10 days later joined Weight Watchers. On May 2, 2010 I had lost 14 pounds. Niko and I were at the grocery store - and he wanted to buy a watermelon. When I picked this one up - I noted how heavy it was. Niko suggested we weight it. It weighted 14 pounds. There was no way I couldn't buy that one at that point. As a true scrappinpsycho - I was already thinking this would make a great layout.
Of course when we got the watermelon home - I had to have Niko take a picture of me with the watermelon - and I also had everyone who came in contact with the watermelon - pick it up and see how heavy it was!
My next leighout (get it) - is me with my youngest grandson - I've now lost my weight in Jonathan.
Do you have something you'd like to Show N' Tell - see how in the SHOW N' TELL SUNDAY post below.

Pagerize Christy by Missy
Guest Design Team Member Missy submitted this layout for the Pagerize This Challenge. She said, "My boys are crazy about these Silly Bandz! I spent all summer looking for these silly little things. They all had different ones that they were looking for! I don't really understand why they are so crazy about these little (and expensive!!) things. Now those gelly bracelets I had forver ago, I can understand that!!
I loved the big circle and the punched borders on Christy's layout. I turned her layout to the side and moved the circle to the edge to give me a little more white space on my layout. The border strip is made using my EK Success emboss/punch combo. I used a bunch of little trims and scraps to embellish the side. The card with the question mark on it, I have had forever! So I was glad to be able to use that! I attached the Silly Bandz with Glossy Accents. I love the way this one turned out. I am glad to be able to scrap these pictures. So when this fad is over, we will remember what all the fuss was about!

Best of $$Frugal Friday Tip$$
Faux Chipboard Letters by Kathy
My tip is to use chipboard letters as patterns instead of using the actual chipboard. This allows you to never run out of those pesky E's or any other letter. I have posted 2 examples.
In Indian boy - I cut the letters for INDIAN by placing the letters on the front of the paper and traced them with my Zig Writer. Then when I cut them out - I cut them just a little outside the lines leaving a small border.
On the Goofy layout - I traced the letters backward on the red paper from the back. Then I cut them on the line. Then I inked around the edges for emphasis.
To make the letters appear to be chipboard - I used the little foam adhesive (pop-dots) as my adhesive. Even up close and in real life - they totally look like they are chipboard.
This is a great way to match your letters to your layout too - no more having to find chipboard letters that "work" or having to paint, ink or cover them to match your layout. And best of all - you will always have the letters you need!
If you use this tip - please send a picture and brief description of your layout to: scrappinpsycho@live.com and I'll post it here.
Also, if you have a Frugal Tip you'd like to share - please send a picture and description to the above address and it may be posted as a future Frugal Friday Tip.
Don't forget to get your November Challenge in - entries must be received by 6 PM November 30th. Who knows - maybe you will be our next Guest Design Team member. See all the details below in November Challenge.
