A Warm Welcome to 2019 'Simple Pleasures' layout by Kim

Happy New Year!

A very warm welcome to 2019 to all of our
dear Scrapmatts followers!

We have given you a few days to settle into the New Year and now we hope to inspire you!

Today I have a layout to share with you all.
A layout created featuring my Grandfather.

Let me show you.....

{Simple Pleasures}
My Pop lived on the land his whole life, working the land and he was also a dairy farmer....he was a giant man but always so wonderful and kind to me.

My brother was on a genealogy website and came across this photo of our grandfather with one of my uncles. Well I knew this photo needed to be scrapped!
Scrapmatts had the perfect chipboard embellishments to go with this precious photo!

[Isn't it just perfect!!!]

Now, I had these pieces in white mist, so all I did was ink them to match in with my paper and design. The Grass chipboard pieces came in the green, so no need to change them!
I also managed to find a little Scrapmatts silhouette dog to add to the bottom right corner.

I have had that giant Ric-Rac ribbon in my stash for so long. I cut small sections of it and frayed it out to make it look like grass and I really like the effect. Sometimes it's good to think outside the box.

Happiness by Lauren Tomecek

Hello fellow chipboard fans! Thanks for checking out my reveal today. I've gone back to basics with a lot of classic pieces, along with some new leaf pieces. I have had a 12x12 sheet of CB8001 Circles 01 for so many years now, and I've used almost all of the 29 pieces up but just had two large circles left. I couldn't resist paring it with this oversized photo I had ordered in the wrong size.

My title comes from CB6112 Scrap Words 31. The leaf pieces come from CB1246 Leaves 06. They come in a variety of sizes so are perfect to scatter around as accents.

My top cluster uses CB1209 Scrap Words 12, CB1189 Scrap Words 01 and CB4008 Butterflies 01. You can see little bits of Stencil 9017 net poking out of the edges from both clusters.

Thanks for visiting!

Hello from Helen at Scrapmatts

Welcome back , it's lovely to have you come and visit as I showcase the versatile  Scrapmatts products, which add wonderful texture and embellishment to any project.
I chose the chipboard  Triangles to complement the triangle paper.
I coloured them with Heidi Swapp Color Shine, "Coral" and some Ranger UTEE, "Gold"
I scattered some other words around - CB 1189 Scrap Words 01
In keeping with the triangle theme I used Alphabet flags as the title.
A bit about the papers I've used.
The denim border is an oldie from Simple Stories.
The turquoise background is from Crate Paper.
The triangles paper is a new release from Cocoa Vanilla, "Endless Summer"
I like the way they all played nicely together, and highlight the chipboard triangles.

The layout was inspired by a sketch from mascarinashirley.blogspot.ca

I have some journalling on the back of the page.  It reads:-
You two little scamps came with your big brother for a sleep over in the school holidays.
It's about the only time I can nab you together and get a couple of photos.
Out of the dozens I took there was not one with both of you looking good.
You love to joke around, flick your hands in the air, wrestle each other to the ground,
poke your tongues out, close your eyes, screw your noses up
and make and all sorts of crazy faces.
So this photo is a composite of two images - the best of a terribly bad lot!
Love Granny

Because we are in the count down to Christmas I created a gift box
with a mixture of papers and of course lots of Scrapmatts yummies.
Why I chose the busiest time of the year to experiment with making a video
 is utterly beyond my comprehension.
But I wanted to show you the mechanism of the box.   Bad idea!
It's taken me days and I'm not sure it's something I would care to do again,
but here it is, with my long suffering husband's help. Ta Dah!!!

It has lots of flaws, but in the spirit of Christmas,
I know you will be tolerant of my first effort.

Do you use Scrapmatts products?
Why not upload your projects on to the Gallery so we can leave you some love.
Thanks for calling in and for any comments you care to leave,  I love reading them.
Wishing you a safe and Happy Christmas
and I look forward to seeing you again in January.

DT Member Canvas by Dunja

Good Morning Everyone, Dunja from Germany here with my very first Scrapmatts blog post.
First let me say i'm more than happy to be part of this amazing team!!

You've seen lots of the other Design TeamM embers sharing their beauties of canvases and today I'ld like to show you mine. There will be a wall of DT Members when Scrapmatts is on a show. You have to stop by and see all our Canvases in real life :)
First i used Gesso and painted the Canvas. After that i've used the Scrapmatts Stencil ST1001 Circles on different placed on the board with white modeling paste. When it was dry i grab some color burst colors and water - indigo blue, lime green and turquoise -

In the left corner i placed the Scrapmatts CB6106 Assorted Words 24 and added a little flower on it.

Under my photo i put some layers of newspaper and corrugated cardboard, i painted them with some gesso too. Then i placed the Scrapmatts CB5141 Retro Squares 01. If you follow me on Instagram you've seen that i colored the chipboard with the color burst colors too. :)
I want to show you how 'happy' i am so i choose one of the words from
Scrapmatts CB1197 Scrapwords 05

Well you'll find some more words on my canvas, they can all be found on the Scrapmatts CB1189 Scrapwords 01. I enjoyed it a lot to play with their amazing chipboards.

Here is a little collage for you, to show you some details of my canvas.

Thank you so much for stopping by totday!
Make sure you head over to the Scrapmatts Gallery to check out the Design Teams amazing creations! If you have projects or creations using Scrapmatts products you can upload them into the gallery, because we would love to see them there

Happy Together - by Lauren Tomecek

Mixed media is not new to scrapbooking by any means and it is a technique which I really enjoy for the opportunity to get messy and just keep layering. Scrapmatts has recently released a range of mesh chipboard pieces which are perfect to use on mixed media pieces. I have used the larger circle mesh (CB5130 Circle Mesh 03) on this layout and created a tutorial if you want to create a similar layout.

Photos for steps 1-4 are at the bottom of that set of instructions.
1/ Take a piece of cardboard/chipboard and start laying down materials for your background. You can see I have cut part of my mesh into three pieces and positioned them around where I planned to place my photo. I pushed all the circle pieces out of my mesh and put them aside. I have also added some book page strips, builders tape and texture paste through a matching stencil.
2/ Cover the entire background and spare circles in 2-3 coats of gesso. You want to make each background material absorb the next layer at the same intensity to get an even colour. Make sure you let each layer dry between coats.
3/ Using spray inks and water, colour your background and spare circles. I started by spritzing the whole thing with water, then used one purple and two blue inks to add colour. I again spritzed with water to re-activate the inks and then flicked some purple ink around the place for a more intense colour.
4/ I had hoped some ink pooling would highlight the different texture of the background but it didn't work. Instead, I took a bronze ink pad and rubbed it over all the raised areas to highlight them.

5/ Once the ink is dry, cover your spare circles with dimensional magic and set aside to dry fully.
6/ Pretty up your background, how you go about this is up to you. I placed some washi tape strips around the photo area and edges of the page, then rubbed gesso over them with my finger to blend them into the background better. I stamped some bubble wrap circles in white acrylic ink randomly over the background. I used spray adhesive to stick down two lengths of balled up thread. Lastly, I used a script stamp to create a border around the edges of my layout.

6/ Add your embellishments and title. For this layout that involved scattering the spare circles and some sequins from top right to bottom left corner of the layout. I also added two charms (CH019 Lock #2) to the layout, one at the title and one at the bottom right of the photo just after the date. My title is a Kaisercraft sticker and a piece from CB1189 Scrap Words 01.

There you go, an easy mixed media layout in just six steps! Show us what you create with the new mesh by sharing in the gallery.

Celebrating special occasions with Scrapmatts

Hello again crafty people! I'm back after taking last month off to spend some time with my new baby. Harrison Donald Tomecek was born on 5.8.14 and has consumed my life since that time. People tell me it gets easier after 6-8 weeks, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Right now though I'm managing on very little sleep and even less craft time. I did manage to whip up a painters tray as a Fathers Day gift for my husband though.

I love the variety of painters trays available (circles, hearts, stamps) and they are such an easy way to do an OTP project. Just pop in a photo or two, maybe a quote and embellish away!

Scrapmatts used: CB1078 Gears 05; CB1189 Scrapwords 01 and CB6094 Mini Tray Stamp 01.

My other project for this month was originally intended to be one of last month's projects, however my waters broke while I was working on it! I love doing Christmas layouts and find the Kaisercraft ranges work perfectly with the huge variety of Scrapmatts Christmas pieces available.

I have only used two chipboard designs on this layout but they are two of my favourite Christmas ones. The ornaments were coloured with distress inks and the stars have been embossed with gold.

Scrapmatts used: CB6081 Christmas Stars 02, CB1059 Christmas Ornaments 07.

Lastly here's a quick messy layout I completed:

Today

on this one I have used:CB6092 Ornate Frame 20 Which I gessoed and then randomly painted with Sparkling H2O's, CB1190 Scrapwords 02 and CB1200 Scrapwords 08 to draw attention to the centre of the layout and the pics. When layouts go wrong....

Hello Scrapmatts fans, Renee here with a series of tags that started off life as a layout.

I had started to create a mixed media background for a layout but it seriously went wrong so instead of binning it (as sections of it were kinda rockin') I thought I could turn it into a series of tags. I have used quite a few packets of Scrapmatts chippies and charms but I have modified some (like snipping the frame and using it on 3 different tags and the flat charms, snapping them and using the off cuts on another tag.)

Here I have used: ATC10-025 Sewing Spool 01, CB6096 Ornate Frame 24CB1190 Scrapwords 02CH043 Assorted Charms #4.

I hope you enjoy having a look at my spontaneous tag set as much as I enjoyed making it!
