Hanna Route 66

I just love Hanna. She is so adorable. I have been wanting this set for sometime and have finally got her. Sparkle was selling off some of her stamps, because of the move. So, I jumped on the opportunity to get her. Not a bad way to collect stamps. I think it would be a great idea if we could sell our stamps to each other. Back in college, I would buy books from my friends each quarter to save money. It always worked out, because being the same major meant taking the same classes. So, all that I would do is see what book the instructor was using and buy that book from one of my friends. So this leads me to think that selling the stamps that we aren't using anymore might be kind of fun. And, who cares if they are used? Just a thought.
Anyway, back to the card. The stamp set used is "Hanna Route 66". I colored the image with copic markers and then applied "Liquid Glass" to the red part of the motorcycle and her helmet. It looks great in person. The Liquid Glass gives it a raised shiny finish. I added some awesome metal buttons that my Sister-in-Law, Vicki sent me. And attached her to the "Game On" paper. I rarely buy masculine paper packs, but I finally gave in and bought this pack. I'm glad that I did, because you never know when you might need it.

What's Up Cupcake?

Yesterday, I created this card using the "Cupcake Sprinkles" stamp set from CTMH. The paper is, also, from CTMH and is called "Daydream". I gave this set to my good friend Jackie for her birthday and she asked me how to use it. So, I searched the CTMH Board for ideas. This adorable card design was created by Vicki W. She used Sculpting Foam for her frosing. I used Liquid Appliqe. To get that creamy looking frosting, I stamped the image in a light colored ink, cut it out and applied Liquid Applique. While it was setting I sprinkled on glitter and let it set over night. In the morning, when it was dry, I took my paper piercer and poked holes in it and inseted brads. I then attached it with popdots. So, here is your card Jackie. Liquid Applique comes in different colors, so you could have chocolate frosting, strawberry frosting or any other that is your favorite. I ,also, thought of adding real sprinkles to the frosting. When I thought of the idea last night, it was too late. The Liquid Applique was already set. I will have to try that next time.

Card Workshop

I am having a card workshop on Saturday. We will be using some of the new papers and stamps from Close to My Heart.

This card uses the March Stamp of the Month "Butterfly Wings". The paper used is "That's Amore". And the cardstock used is Blush, Vanilla Cream and Chocolate. The butterfly is dimensional. Using Blush and Chocolate ink, I stamped the image on cardstock using the "Rock and Roll" Technique. I then stamped another image and cut it out and attached just the front of the butterfly with adhesive. Using a glue pen, I outlined the butterfly and sprinkled on glitter. The scalloped edge is made from a Fiskars Border Punch.

With Easter around the corner, I thought it wouldd be nice to have a cute bunny card. This card uses the stamp "Bunny Love". The patterned paper is "Creative Basics, The Emporium Collection". I used Hollyhock cardstock for the background and random stamped a flower image. The oval and Scalloped oval were cut using Nestabilities. To color the bunny, I used a water brush and ink. The flowers have a little glitter in the centers.

This card uses CTMH's version of Bella. Isn't she just adorable? She is "Ms on the Go". Since we all loved paper dolls as a kid, I thought it would be fun to play with them. So I paper pieced her clothes. The paper used is also "Creative Basics, The Emporium Collection". the cardstock used is Cocoa and Buttercup. For her shirt, I used scraps from the "Emporium Collection", a different pack, not Creative Basics.

This card is my favorite. I scraplifted it from another CTMH Consultant. I wish that I could remember who it was. If you are reading this, thank you. The stamp sets used are "Bird Basics" and "Aspiration". The paper is "Unforgettable". The cardstock used is Desert Sand, Cocoa and Sorbet. I stamped the branch first using Chocolate ink, and then using the Second Generation Stamping Technique, I stamped the flowers on the branch in Sorbet. Using another piece of cardstock, I stamped two flowers, cut them out, sponged the edges and attached them with brads, The bird is stamped on another piece of cardstock in Juniper and Chocolate ink and pieced together on the branch. I sponged the edges of the bird before attaching him to give him a finished look. The card stock is sponged in Chocolate ink and the scalloped border was made using a Fiskars Border Punch.

Someone in my class requested a teen-age boy card. They are the hardest to make. What do you give a teen-age boy? So, I did some searching on the boards and was given some ideas. Someone said that it is heart breaking to watch a teen-age boy rip into your card and toss it aside after all the hard work. So why bother? So, I decided to give it a try. This card combines a couple of different consutants ideas. I can't remember who, but thank you. The stamp set used is called "Off Road" and the paper is "It's A Guy Thing" The cardstock is Cocoa, Desert Sand and Barn Red. The circle was created to look like a tire. I punched a circle and using my small scissors, cut notches in the edge.

If you have not had a chance to look at the Close To My Heart Spring Catalog, please do so. There are so many gorgeous papers and fun stamps in it. Orders can be placed directly through my CTMH Webite. You don't even have to go through me. All you do is order online and the order comes straight to your house. How cool is that?

Weight Watchers on the Iphone

Good news!!! At today's Weight Watcher meeting I found out that I can have the WW program on my I phone. If you are signed up with weight watchers online, you can access it from your Iphone with just the touch of an icon. Here's what you do.

Access m.weightwatchers.com using the browser on your iphone. Once you get to the WW mobile home page, press the + key at the bottom of your screen to bookmark the page. The iphone will ask you where you want the bookmark placed - press 'add to home screen'. The iphone will give you the option to rename the site - you can call it whatever you like - and then it will place it on the home screen of the phone. If you have lots of icons on your phone already you might need to flip to the 2nd or 3rd page of your home screen.

Wish me luck. When it comes to counting points, I need all the help I can get :)

Makes Me Smile

Unforgettable and Aspiration

Today is my daughter's birthday. She is 26 years old. My how the time flies. She was just a little girl yesterday and now has a four year old daughter, who I sometimes call Jennifer. I guess my age is catching up with me.LOL. I made this card for her using the CTMH paper Unforgettable and the stamp set Aspirations. These are my two favorites in the catalog.

Easter Tilda with Tree

It is so nice to be back home again. To me the best part of going away is coming home again. Last night I was able to play with my new Easter Tilda. The tree and little chicks are also from the Magnolia stamp line. I stamped the tree and sponged around it in Heavenly Blue ink. After coloring Tilda and the chicks, I cut them out and attached them with adhesive. I used some of my SU paper that I hadn't used in a while. The little charm is from a CTMH special. I love putting little charms on Tilda cards. They just give it that extra touch.

Pictures of our ski trip

This is a picture of me and Bill up at Sierra Lake Tahoe Ski Resort. This picture is taken on the deck of one of the restaurants on the mountain. It is just so glorious up there.
The next picture is a view of the lake from our hotel room.

On our way home we decided to drive around the lake. I didn't realize how large it is. It is 22 miles long and 11 miles wide!!! We stopped along the way and got some sandwiches and had a picnic by the lake. It was a very nice day. I had tried to post some pictures from my Iphone to my blog but was not successful. If anyone knows how to do so, I would appreciate some help.

Beautiful Lake Tahoe

Bill and I are up at Lake Tahoe. Yesterday, we skied at Sierra. The weather and snow conditions could not have been better. We will be coming home tonight.

Tilda with Tulips

Good Morning Everyone. Hope you had a great crafting weekend. I certainly did. On Saturday I had a Scrapbook Workshop that went very well. After everyone left, I created the layout of Lexi on the prior post. Yesterday I created this adorable "Tilda with Tulips" Card. The paper is from Close to My Heart and is called Paper Garden.

The card design is from the March Magnolia sketch over at Magnoialicious . This is where I buy my Tilda Stamps. Tilda is sitting on a Pretty Oval from Alota Rubber Stamps.

Nice Kitty

Last night I had time to do some scrapbooking. I love these pictures of Lexi with our cat Tiger. He has got to be the most easygoing cat ever. Lexi can carry him around and he doesn't even mind. I walked into her bedroom one day and found that she had put the cat in her doll buggy. I used my new pack of paper from Close to My Heart called "Daydream". I love the colors. They are so girly. The flowers, buttons, ribbons and slide, sparkles, pretty pin, chipboard and stamped letters are also from CTMH. I made a birthday card for Lexi to take to a party using this same paper and the stamp set "Happy Endings".

And the Winner is.......

First off I want to thank all of you who took the time leave a comment on my blog and to put a link on your blog. I have enjoyed reading your blogs and will continue reading them. Thank you, also, to those who have signed up to follow my blog. It has made me so happy. I never expected to get so many responses to my candy. There were 302 responses!!!! Wow. I wasn't sure how I was going to pick a winner. The last time that I offered blog candy, I cut out all of the names and had Lexi draw a name. This time I had to think of another way of doing it. I came across a website called "random.org". It was so simple, all that I had to do was put in the numbers 1 to 302, and like a slot machine where you pull the handle and get 3 cherries, it came up with the number "150". Now the hard part began. I printed all the postings and counted them one by one until I got to 150. I was getting pretty excited as I got closer to 150. I couldn't wait to see who my winner would be. And her name is:
TERRI
http://terriearley.blogspot.com/
Check out her blog. She has a very cute, but funny story to tell about making a card for the new baby next door. She is also a very talented artist. Please stop by and show her some blog love.
Thanks again for participating. Have a great day.
Hugs,
Lori

Bird Basics

I made this card using CTMH Emporium Paper pack and CTMH Bird Basics stamp set. I got the idea for this card from Karen's blog. Check out her blog. She has some beautiful artwork. http://karenkemme.blogspot.com/

You can order this paper pack and stampset on my CTMH website. I love this stamp set. It is so whimsical and fun. It has differnet birds, legs and feathers so that you can change him up. I also love ordering on line. I remember about 10 years ago when they were saying that the internet was the wave of the future for shopping. I didn't believe it at first, because I liked going into stores and touching the merchandise before I bought it. But, with scrapbooking supplies, not all stores have what you want. I love being able to go online and see all the new products. It's a little dangerous, because with the click of the mouse I can spend way too much money. LOL. But, I forget about that once I have those items in my hand.

20,000 Hits and Yummy, Oh so Tasty Blog Candy Ends March 14

Wow. I have hit the 20,000 mark on my blog in less than a year!!! I started my official blogging in April of 2008. At the time when I started setting up my blog in February 2008 , I was so new to blogging that I didn't even know where to start or how to set it up. With the help of all you "seasoned" bloggers, I learned so much about blog banners, backgrounds, posting links and photos and the list goes on. Plus I found all kinds of stamps, papers, flowers and other embillishments from your blogs that I didn't even know that I needed until I saw them!!! I love blogging. I wake up every morning and with a cup of coffee I read all of my earmarked blogs just like reading the morning news paper.

To celebrate my big 20k, I am offering some very tasty blog candy.

Here is what you will get:

From Stampingbella: Halobella, Hippiechickabella, Peace Sentiment, and Stargazing.

The new Porcelain Paper Pad from Basic Grey

Five packs of Rub-ons with Rhinestones from Imaginisce

Flowers from Imaginisce

Here is what you need to do to win my candy. Spread the word that I have blog candy to offer by putting a link to my blog on your blog and telling me that you did so. I don't want to exclude anyone, so if you don't have a blog, leave a comment.

The winner will be announced on Saturday, March 14

Another Enchanted Lily Card

I am really loving this stamp set. Instead of cutting Lily out this time, I cut the frog out and put him on a pop dot. I wanted to add the caption "Make a Wish" but it was a kind of hard to make it fit. But, I am still loving this card. Inside it reads "Have a Fairy Nice Day". The sketch is from Splitcoast Stampers, SC218 and the paper is SU.

Enchanted Lily

Good Morning Everyone,
Last night I came home from work to a nice surprise. My "Enchanted Lily's" from Pink Cat Studio's had arrived. After dinner, Lexi and I sat down and made cards. For my card, I used paper from SU called Tea Party. I colored Lily with my Copic Markers and painted her wings with "Pixie Dust" Shimmers. I cut the ovals with my Nestabilities. Lexi used paper from DCWV called "Sweet".

Bunny Hop Sophia

I received this adorable Sophia stamp over a week ago and have not had a chance to play with her. Yesterday when I woke up I had a hard time wanting to go to work because I wanted to stay home and play. Ever have that problem? So, when I came home last nightI got her out immediately and began to play. I got my inspiration for the card sketch from Jackie Pedro over at Paper Pretties. The paper is from Stamping Up. It is called Tea Party. Sophia is from Paper Pretties. I belong to their stamp of the month club. It is so much fun to get a new stamp each month. If you are interested in signing up, you can go here to do so.

More Pic's from Arizona

Here are some more pictures that were taken at the Regional Celebration. This is a picture of me and Joyce showing off our new goodies.

Here are some of the members of Elaine's California Dream Team. From left to right are:
Mary, Me, Elaine, Sherry and Joyce.

Here is a picture of a "Saguaro" Cactus. These cactus's are hundreds of years old and are very expensive to buy. I love how they photographed against the sunset.

It was Elaine's birthday. We went to an awesome Mexican restaurant where I had a Margarita and Enchilladas. Yum. Elaine got some fried ice cream for her birthday dessert. I couldn't believe that ice cream could actually be fried, so when we got back to the hotel we looked it up online and sure enough it is fried in 350 degrees oil!!!. To make it, you roll ice cream in corn flakes, refreeze and then fry and refreeze. Amazingly it works.

Elaine had me pose by this giant Kokopelli. If you don't know what he is, I will tell you. He is the God of Fertility. Yikes. No more babies for me. And, here are some beautiful pictures of Sadona. Wish I were still there. Loved the peacefulness there.

They call this rock "Snoopy" because he is shaped like the cartoon character. If you look closely, he is laying down. You can see his head (see the little nose), torso and feet.

Regional Celebration Pictures

Good Morning Everyone. I am back from the Regional Celebration in Carefree, Arizona. I went with Elaine, my upline and Joyce my sideline. We shared a room and got along very well. The resort that we stayed at was so peaceful and the weather was beautiful. Each morning I would get up and sit out on the patio looking at the gorgeous peach tones on the hills and listening to the birds singing. The contrast of the green trees and suguaro cactus' against the peach colored sandstone was stunning. And, the sunset's were just gorgeous. My camera battery ended up dying so I will post pictures of the setting when I get Elaine's pictures.

This is a picture of Jeanette Lynton the founder of Close to My Heart. She taught one of the classes.

Here are some of the freebies that we received. A handy tote bag, Stamp sets: Connections, Dainty Thoughts, Priceless Love and Rustic Alphabet.

They also gave us the paper pack That's Amore, the stickers and Love Always Journaling Spots, A Workshop on the go folder, Color-Ready Alphabet, Rhinestones, Brads, Waxy Flax, Buttons and other embilshments, plus individual papers to make layouts and cards.

And, here are the layouts that we did. These are not my layouts, but the examples.

Here are some pictures taken at the hotel.
